Keethos 842 Report post Posted June 30, 2014 Wow, that does sound pretty good actually, very burbley which I like and a hint of scoobie yet still different, but will need to hear it live and at full chat, I originally like the Milltek because it had a nice low down burble....until I heard it at full chat and then it started to sound a lil tiny. smudge 1020 Report post Posted July 4, 2014 Wanted to get a before and after of the exhaust. So these videos are with the resonated mid pipe that comes standard with the Invidia [TUBE] [/TUBE] [TUBE] [/TUBE] Tomorrow will be the same videos but with a straight (unresonated) mid pipe Watch this space! 1 Tweedbean reacted to this
smudge 1020 Report post Posted July 5, 2014 Well, what a difference a bit of pipework makes! Just a few pictures for now Up on the ramps at Fast Road Conversions in Ashford. Top guys here, squeezed me in last minute like they did with the 350z and the work is top notch Out with the Invidia midpipe with the resonator New, custom pipe in. Had to put a flexi in to makeup for the lack of spring bolts that held the Invidia midpipe in place All I can say is WOW! Such a different car now, sounds like an absolute beast but still quiet on the long motorway journey home. Only starts shouting when you open it up. Reminds me of the 350z in where the noise is, but a much different sound Will try and get videos later
smudge 1020 Report post Posted July 10, 2014 SOOOOOOOO excited to pick up another box today, although I had to unpack it to fit it in the car... and it contained my favourite mod so far! Can't wait to fit this! 1 Keethos reacted to this

smudge 1020 Report post Posted July 11, 2014 REALLY bored at work today, which is never good for my wallet... Just purchased a few little bits: Boost, Oil Temp and Oil Pressure gauges To fit into this which fixes onto the passenger side of the dash and faces the drivers side 1 TankGirl reacted to this

Lauren 2259 Report post Posted July 12, 2014 The trouble I've found when driving cars with these gauges on the passenger side is that you just can't really see them. They're just too much out of eyeshot to really keep an eye on. I think putting them somewhere else on the dash would be a better option. What spring rates did you go for on the coilovers? They're just too much out of eyeshot to really keep an eye on. I think putting them somewhere else on the dash would be a better option. What spring rates did you go for on the coilovers? Don't think my gauges will be a problem, they're fairly bright! But we'll soon see As for spring rates, front is 4kg and rear is 6kg Also got my new carbon fog light surrounds today Look immense, but then came across this Can't see it unless you're really up close, so tempted to just keep them rather than send them back seeing as these are unique from what I know
Lauren 2259 Report post Posted July 12, 2014 I know the gauges will be bright, I guess what I was saying is they just don't fall to the eye in the position they are in. 4 front and 6kg rear. I know that Maz is running 6kg front and 4kg rear, but I think it's better to run the rear stiffer as per the standard setup. I have driven Maz's car with the 6/4kg setup and I felt it rolled over on outside rear a little too much. I run 5/6kg, stock is 3/4kg. Will be interesting to see how you find your setup as I don't know anyone else with those spring rates.
smudge 1020 Report post Posted July 15, 2014 Went out for a drive earlier tonight, thought I'd get a couple of videos of the new exhaust sound 1/4 throttle, 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_gA2LqDeEg Full throttle 2nd gear https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M6a__o6dIRI Much meatier sound, wonder what the supercharger will do to it?!
Lauren 2259 Report post Posted July 15, 2014 I think the supercharger will make it a little louder and of course you'll get a whistle. I'm sorry but it sounds way too loud to me.

Lauren 2259 Report post Posted July 15, 2014 Indeed. I'm just worried if you were going to take it on track it doesn't sounds like it would pass the noise regs.

Can easily install the resonated pipe back in for that kind of thing, 30mins job max It may even go back in anyway depending on how much the charger makes a difference

Will update tomorrow once we have some yummy progress to show Yes mate love it. Quite loud totally me. Good mod. hashiriya 52 Report post Posted July 16, 2014 The springs will be 6kg front and 4kg rear as standard on the Max IV GT. I've set my dampers quite soft all round for road use 25 clicks from hardest on the front and around 20 on the rear. I've set my a little softer at the back to keep it a little more settled when I put the power down. There is massive scope for adjustment though so hopefully you can find the setting that suits you. I'm confident you can find the handling you want without compromising on comfort.
smudge 1020 Report post Posted July 17, 2014 What a day! Relatively simple install, but just took forever on fiddly little bits that would be so much easier if I had to do it again How it all started out: And how it finished up with everything removed, ready for the SC install: Charger all built up with throttle body, injectors, fuel rails and 75mm pulley for now: Then it was the actual install of the charger, intercooler, extensions for all the breather pipes and wiring. After a few hours with some helping hands, we end up with this: Gorgeous looking bit of kit, my favourite picture from today after the 1st startup: Base map put on it for now, booked into Abbey Motorsport for a proper dyno tune on the 28th so won't have any official figures until then Current map has a 5,000rpm limiter to keep it safe for now, so you don't get a huge amount of SC whine as it's not spinning fast enough. Got a quick video earlier tonight, certainly shifts compared to standard even with a limit of only 5,000rpm! Can just about hear the whine before reaching the limit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWfadRHAJMM And just as we were packing away, some more porn turned up: Can't wait to get them on along with the proper map from Abbey later this month Stay tuned! 1 Keethos reacted to this
smudge 1020 Report post Posted July 28, 2014 Wow, what a day! Mark @ Abbey was fantastic today, spending almost 4 hours on the dyno making sure he got everything he could from the 86. Great service from Abbey as usual Car was put onto the hub dyno and mapped with the 75mm pulley to get everything setup, ready to put the 69mm pulley on for more boost. 75mm ran 232hp at the wheels I think Then the smaller pulley goes on and we get 247.1hp at the wheels! Rough conversion meaning she runs about 290 at the flywheel which I'm chuffed with! Soundtrack wasn't too bad either (does no justice due to fans and extractor being very loud, but you get the idea ) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30uoeSCQjTs&list=UUmUrsO4oG9BoH8HdOSNbA6g https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4nob7pheOyw&list=UUmUrsO4oG9BoH8HdOSNbA6g 247.1hp at the wheels, roughly 290 at the flywheel Running at exactly 1bar of boost Car has been transformed and I was laughing on the way home at how quick it is, spinning the Prius tyres all the way into 3rd gear in the dry! Car now has 4 maps which are interchangeable by the cruise control stalk 1 - Full power, soft throttle (for wet conditions to keep the back end in check) 2 - Full power, stock throttle (my favourite ) 3 - Full power, stock throttle with auto blip when changing down a gear (not my style, I heel-toe brake naturally), flat shift and launch control at 4k revs 4 - Unleaded (for when you can't find v-power and need fuel) Fallen in love with it all over again! Next up will be things like expansion tank, baffled sump, oil cooler and better air intake which should get a couple more horses from her
