knocking from front drivers side

Recommended Posts

Well tonight went out for a drive and straight away noticed a knocking/banging metallic sound, had a look around and couldn't see anything, drove it over a slightly bumpy road and the noise was worse, any ideas what to try a look at and check just in case i've forgot  something. The last time it was driven was this morning and it was silent.

Top mounts as Keith said, also the bolts for camber adjustment. I would say if it's making a right racket it must be prettty loose somewhere. Check torque on strut to hub bolts and all that stuff. Basically anywhere there is a bolt.

All fixed now, I checked the top mounts first and everything seemed OK, the top nut was firm but when a socket went on it it moved quite freely, tightened this nut up and went for a drive, no more noise, if the top mounts didn't keep been mentioned I think I would of not rechecked it again.

Thanks all
