Devo 7 Report post Posted July 2, 2017 Been having some trouble with my 2013 BRZ. It started to make clunking noise coming from the front wheels. It seems to be getting worse and I have no idea on how to fix this but it's driving me insane. Lauren 2259 Report post Posted July 3, 2017 I can't see the vid for some reason. There have IIRC been two others that had issues with HSD's knocking. Edit, seen the vid elswhere. That is pretty bad. Something is loose. Check top nuts but if it's not that it's something else.

Mark-in-Stoke 488 Report post Posted July 3, 2017 This sounds identical to the sound mine was making, several garages tried to find the problem to no avail, eventually had the front suspension removed and sent for a re-build, it came back as no problems found so everything went back on, Rich at TunedUK did say that he thought it was the pre-load as he said there was very little of it. now all is good once more. so if i were you i'd check top nuts, droplinks then pre-load then all associated nuts n bolts

surrey86 352 Report post Posted July 3, 2017 Sounds like a shock knocking to me.
Devo 7 Report post Posted July 3, 2017 I've adjusted the droplinks checked all the bolts were tight and then decided to give up on trying to fix this my self. Dropped it off at local Subaru specialist and he seems to think that it's the shock absorber, I guess I just need to find out if I can buy replacement shock on driftworks. Thanks everyone for input

I am not sure as I bought the car few months and the HSD were fitted, I haven't got any proof of purchase so I guess I will have to pay the full price for the shock. Not really too impressed with HSD if I am honest, they looked pretty much brand new when I got the car so can't imagine them being too old. Not really sure how long coilovers usually last but I never had to replace stock shocks after few thousand miles.
Foulsmell 120 Report post Posted July 4, 2017 I'm sure they can investigate for free. If it's the coilovers then you'd have to pay. If not then you might be ok. Worth a go.
Keethos 842 Report post Posted July 4, 2017 Mine started knocking from the front drivers side (not as bad as that though, usually when you turn the wheel it knocks but it would also come and go), RRG Macclesfield couldn't find the issue so I ended up changing them for something else. I've still got them and I've been meaning to have a play and look at them, see if I can find the issue with the shocks themselves but I've not had the time and they've just been sat in the garage ever since. I've spoken to Driftworks who are the UK master distributors of HSD coilovers and this is what they said: "The HSD dampers cannot be rebuilt, however if a replacement is certainly needed we would be able to supply one (£136 for an inverted monopro damper, £143.5 including delivery to yourself). As a newer kit we are unlikely to have spares of the dampers in stock but can be ordered in directly from HSD. These orders from HSD are without a set ETA and can easily take towards 6 weeks to arrive dependent on their shipment dates." If you are interested, you could have my set and swap out each corner to see which one is the culprit?
