Lauren 2259 Report post Posted February 26, 2018 Just now, Rob_86 said: Is there a pads a disc setup that you recommend? Stock discs are fine. I don't think there is much to be gained by aftermarket discs in stock sizes. As for pads, Stoptechs work well enough. I've had Project Mu 800's they have good feel but are noisy on the road. Many run PFC fronts (cheap) and EBC yellow rears. Aftermarket pads are all you need really for occasional fast road driving. You'll only really overheat them if you are descending Alpine passes, so not really an issue in the UK. I run Ferodo DS2500's pad wise all round though obviously I have the AP 4 pots up front. They are nice and quiet and work well. That's another option as you can get ones for stock calipers up front too.
VAD17 479 Report post Posted February 26, 2018 I have Ksports bbk fronts (with Yellowstuff pads) and stock rears (also with Yellowstuff pads). They look good and I can brake harder and later on track. Could also go for 20mins with no change in pedal feel and no smoking smell (although It was wet, so not like for like comparison ).No sqeel after initial couple days either. They would be perfectly fine for fast road imo, reasonably priced as well.I might go for different pads next time, but so far Yellowstuff seem good.Rears disks though look tiny comparing to fronts... and rear bbk rather expensive for extra benefit you get vs fronts and better pads.Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
Rob_86 19 Report post Posted March 9, 2018 So was hoping to drive straight out of Brecon and home for the weekend until this happened. Pumped it back up and within 10 minutes it was completely flat again. National trye it is then.
Rob_86 19 Report post Posted May 17, 2018 Quick update, other week I was lucky enough to find someone who was breaking an aero edition, unfortunately it had front end damage so the bumper wasn't available but the got my hands on the skirts and rear spats. They are currently at the bodyshop getting sprayed up and preped to go on the car on the 25th June, ready for jdm the weekend after. Will get pictures up once there on the car. Rob_86 19 Report post Posted June 1, 2018 On Saturday I dropped my car into bodyworxs just outside of Bristol and after 4 days it was ready. Had the side skirts and spats resprayed and fitted on to my car. First off I would recommend the body shop to anyone, really helpful and professional. The work was completed to a high standard, definetly would use them again. Now to the car, really happy with the difference the aero styling makes, completely changes the stance. 1 Lucas reacted to this

Rob_86 19 Report post Posted July 15, 2018 Was planning on leaving my 86 as shes stands as i'm away with work for 4 months, but the Dom2497 was selling his HKS legamax sports exhaust which was to good to pass up, had to snap it up. recieved a week later and got it installed. the sound is amazing quiet low down and no drone at cruising speed, but when you open it up just wow, has a really raspy tone to it. Rob_86 19 Report post Posted July 23, 2018 So due to work commitments my car is now undercover for the next 4 month's. Cleaned her up before the cover went on. So this is how she stands for 4 months And then finally with the covers on.
Rob_86 19 Report post Posted July 23, 2018 Won't be much progress now for a few months, although I will be keeping a close eye out for q aero front bumper. Plans for when I'm back will be a set of 18" alloy wheels, still not sure which ones yet but got plenty of time to decide.
Rob_86 19 Report post Posted February 4, 2019 so its been a while since i last updated this and a lot has happened. as previously the car was stood for 4 months. As to be expected when i returned back the battery was completly dead, to the point were the keyless entry wouldn't work. A lot of praying came in at this point, as i've read on many occasions of peoples locking barrels to be seized. Luckily this wasnt the case with mine and was able to get into my car and jump start it. After a week or so of getting back into driving my 86 i decided it was time to complete the exhaust system and ordered a hks dual resonated front pipe which would remove the front cat and make it a complete decat. I was hoping to be able to fit it myself but due to a couple of seized bolts that wouldnt move this had to wait to be installed.
Rob_86 19 Report post Posted February 4, 2019 THE BIG UPDATE. The plan for around christmas and the new year was to get the front pipe fitted and leave my car as that for a while. Then comes along @Mike@TD.co.uk with his black friday deals, offering an iresitable deal on his stage 1 Turbo upgrade from the N/A tune. with me just recieving a bonus from work how could i say no to this deal. Without giving it a second thought i paid the deposit and booked my 86 in for january the 19th, along with the turbo upgrade my 86 was booked in for its big 6 year service and the front pipe install That week must have been the longest week ever as i waited for friday the 25th to roll around and to pick my car up from mike and the guys at tuning developments. So to the turbo install where do i start, youve all properly ready reviews on the turbo and everyone of them is true. The kit is amazing it completly transforms car, the fun factor goes through the roof. The car just wants to go all of the time. i truely believe this is what toyota intended the 86 to be. The work manship from the guys at tuning developments is second to none, they take pride in what they do and set out to give you the best customer experience. I highly recomend them, mike is always willing to help out and give proffensional advice. So to the figures my 86 is up from 210bhp to 277bhp, and 175fbt to 233fbt, and big increase in both figures. 2 Lauren and Mike@TD.co.uk reacted to this
Rob_86 19 Report post Posted February 4, 2019 Of course the day after I picked it up I had to go out and show mikes work off. As you would expect everyone was very impressed with his work and also the performance of the 86. Managed to get some pictures and a couple of videos of the turbo.
