KubaNowicki 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2018 Hello my friends, i am writting to you from Poland so forgive me my simple language. I have the issue with my gearbox. It is identical like on this video: I have already changed the thrust bearnig and oil for Motul Gear 300 and now it is better but not ideal. Sometimes this sound is quiet but sometimes is loud. Can anyone help me or give some advice? Thanks!
Lauren 2259 Report post Posted March 1, 2018 Are you sure that sound isn't coming from the engine?
Lucas 244 Report post Posted March 2, 2018 Can you only hear it when you depress the clutch pedal? I couldn't quite figure out from the video. I can't think of anything obvious, if your car is still under warranty, it's worth taking it in.
KubaNowicki 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2018 @Lauren when i press the clutch pedal is completely quiet so in my opninion it can't be engine. @Lucas@PartBox Yes, only if i depress the clutch pedal this sound appears, my car is 2013 so my warranty is ended. Or maybe it is the clutch pressure plate ?
Lauren 2259 Report post Posted March 3, 2018 Input shaft issue? Sounds a bit loud for a release bearing!
KubaNowicki 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2018 This sound doesn't always appear, it's hard to tell when exactly, doesn't matter if i drive fast (high rpm) or calm (low rpm). Are you still thinking it can be input shaft ?
Lauren 2259 Report post Posted March 3, 2018 It's a wild guess at best. If it's under warranty get them to look at it I would say.
KubaNowicki 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2018 Unfortunetly my warranty has anded, but i will talk with my mechanic about input shaft. Thank you @Lauren
GravelRash 62 Report post Posted March 3, 2018 Does it go away (get quieter) when the engine is warm and the gearbox has been used for a while? Another check could be to gently move the gearstick towards each gear without using the clutch. Don't push it into gear, just push enough to 'feel' it begin to engage. You might find one of them makes the noise stop. Mine does this when it's cold and if I 'touch' 3rd, then the noise goes away for a bit. For mine I assume it's just mechanical noise.
