Ade 517 Report post Posted August 29, 2013 Shame we couldn't all get along. I guess now there are two clubs to browse..Shame about all the bannings. I have a mod blog I want to update at some point, now do I have to make two threads to cover both forums.... Would have been nice to be able to cross reference! rob275 1817 Report post Posted August 29, 2013 Hi buddy, you do indeed have to make two threads if you want to post here. Sorry not much can be done about this, shame we can't all get along :)However, glad you find us and choose to stick around, you probsbly recognise the majority on here anyway! Keethos 842 Report post Posted August 29, 2013 Welcome along mate. Yeah, tis a shame but that's how some people are I suppose. You're more than welcome to just copy and post the thread or paste the link in here if you like (we can still see the mods section of that site), we promise not to redirect people to porntube or something....unless you want us to :32 (18):

Special K 442 Report post Posted August 29, 2013 Hi GT86Owner. Glad you decided to have a look... hopefully a lot of the 'confusion' referred to in the other place will be resolved soon and we can start looking at co-operation. But it does take two to tango... and (in my opinion) there is an undercurrent of envy that taints over there, alas..The biggest difference is that this is a genuine 'Club' with Members who subscribe and get a say in the management. And it will grow, as the management are all totally enthusiastic GT86/BRZ petrolheads who want to encourage more events, both social and track.. hence the booking at BHP Lydden on 05 May 2014. I shall be looking to organise another Essex/Herts meet in December and I'm sure Rob has plans for a Kent bash.. all are welcome..Spec K
Lauren 2259 Report post Posted August 29, 2013 Hello! :)It's one of those things, really, still watch this space in respect of events, as we're pretty active on that front!

Special K 442 Report post Posted August 29, 2013 Be good to see a few more on this 'Club' site... there has been (uninformed) comment on the Forum and, being banned, I (we) cannot rectify the misleading assumptions that many regulars have made. And continue to make. All are free to post their comments here, including Dan/ Stu/Kodename (and in Kodename's defence he's the only one who is standing up for the dark side and talking sense, in my opinion. But he stands against Dan and Stu.. ) Watch out for a rather special event I'm trying to put together... plan is to take over a private hotel, very close to Mallory Park, for two days. Marquee in the grounds for 'Members'. Can fit 80-odd 'jewels' on display. Not worried about track time (if it's on for us manic nuts = it's a bonus, okay?), but it's not the focus, this is a big, big, social chill. I need to bounce the whole idea off the Committee...Spec K

Pitman 188 Report post Posted August 29, 2013 From my perspective, my sole interest in belonging to forums and posting is to share my love of the Toyota GT 86 (and obviously the BRZ, but as a died in the wool Toyota man, I cannot say that too openly :-)).I am not interested in forum politics, or helping to stroke peoples egos. This final comment, unfortunately, refers to the 'other' forum. As I posted there when bangate was first revealed, it was a very sad day for the integrity of the Gt 86 Owners Club forum, as well as the European GT 86 / BRZ community in general. Hopefully sanity will prevail, and if there is anything I can do to help resolve the issue, the offer is there.Dave
Lauren 2259 Report post Posted August 30, 2013 Many thanks, Dave. I think time will help with sorting a lot of issues out. We are clear though that we will not be oppositional to Dan's forum. Otherwise, we'll let you know!

keelerad 256 Report post Posted August 30, 2013 The thoughts expressed below are my view on why what happened, happenedI think the main reason that this club happened was we wanted to move on to the next level from a forum and have the members involved in making decisions/planning events by becoming a real club. This was suggested a number of times on the forum, but all that happened was SpecK got banned and still nothing seemed to be happening re events, so we went to JapFest piggy backed on IMOC courtesy of LaurenWe started talking about how we could get things moving at JapFest and decided that we would probably have to set up our own club. This occurred before the JAE thread was started on the forum, so we had already decided what we wanted to do and it was not out of spite that we didn't sign up there, just an opportunity to get things started for our new clubIt wasn't about wanting to take over Dan's Forum, just that nothing seemed to be happening there and with Dan not interested in attending any events (not that surprising as he doesn't own an 86/BRZ to attend in) we doubted that much was going to changeSo we set up this club to allow those that really wanted to attend events, to be able to commit to them with the backup/support of the club so we don't end up missing out on events that members want to attendWe are not a bunch of control freaks that want to lay down the laws about who can do what or when, we are just a bunch of really enthusiastic owners/drivers that like to get things organised and actually do stuffAlec
