Hi After having a new Kia Sportage 1.6 GT-S Line for the last year, I decided to change as I really wanted a GT86, so yesterday I purchased my dream (picking up next week), Red, rear parking sensors, Auto (i'm lazy now). Love at first site, gave it a long test drive, Motorway & normal roads, it was so responsive and a BIG grin was had😉.

Thank you Lauren, as it is for the time being, been looking all day at different mods to be done on this brilliant site. Retiring next month, so who knows😉. I do like the Red intake pipe that you can get but may have to watch the pennies a bit. Also fancy getting an armrest for it.

    Turbo kit

My 200sx used to suffer badly from heat soak during the summer. It is important as Nerdstrike says. Both the TD and Avo kit have their strengths and weaknesses it's down the personal preference but in short they are the most popular kits for UK cars.

Where do you suppose the energy comes from that makes the post-turbo air charge hot? It's proportionate to the temperature of the air coming into the turbo. Aside from a bit of soak from the impeller itself, it's mainly the compression that increases the temperature - see ideal gas law. The higher the starting temperature the more energy in the resulting compressed air, and the more effort it takes to compress. The intercooler can take 10 degrees or more out of the intake charge, but I don't believe the cooling efficiency increases with temperature as much as the heat of compression does. That's before you take into account the practical effects of a car that heatsoaks at idle and has to drain the engine bay of hot air, instead of just the intake volume. I've lost count of how many times I've seen people complaining about wobbly idles and erratic fuelling from replacing their intakes and filter boxes. Good air supply matters! At least to a point. NA ram-scoops have a tiny effect, and most cold air induction kits trade weather resilience for marginal improvements over OEM offerings.

While the car was at Rogue Motorsport they also made me a manifold/overpipe combo to try along with a new sports cat pipe with an extra resonator added. It's a work of art and seems a massive shame for it to be hidden away under the car! And a picture on the car showing the sports cat and resonator section too
