Toyota advertising standard specification which is not fitted to their car
Daninplymouth and 5 others reacted to will300 for a post in a topic
Imagine my surprise when I bought a car with an advertised 200hp only to find out none of them come with that..... 🤣....... 😥 -
4 pointsWell I found this post useful. 4 years of ownership, 2 different 86's and only today have I discovered there is a toggle behind the mirror to dim it. Learn something new everyday.

You sound like a right piece of work. Interested as to how you wrote it off, did you reverse into something brightly lit? -
3 pointsHad a quick chat with @Lauren at the sprint and have decided to just use the bolt that the reel is connected to as that's what Lauren's done and if the rear reel is connected to it, it must be strong enough (seems pretty well bolted in to the car anyway!). Fit the rear piece last night and you can do it without taking any trim off really. Just lower the rear seat back, remove the 2 pop clips holding the boot liner in at the side and you can get access to the bolt with an extension. A normal socket set should be strong enough to get the nut off.

3 pointsAfter considering quite a few of the 17 on models available at the moment I settled on a pre reg (Oct 18) Pro model with less than 100 miles on the clock,so still to be run in. At 70 years of age this may be my last sports car!...and I've had quite a few in the last 50 years or so. Now I've been well aware of the GT86 since its launch, and of the great reviews it has had but circumstances have not been right to get one until now. The main thing that has moyivated me in its direction now is that in recent years I have chopped ad changed with a number of 300 horse power cars but eventually thought that on UK public roads the power of the GT86 would be enough for me and actually more fun. I was right! Just one more thing...I would like to say a special hello to Lauren, whose enthusiasm for the marque and knowledge of automotive matters (and most other things!) has few equals.I remember her from MR2 forum days and trust that she is well.

We should all get off the OP's back. I find my entire driving experience is ruined when I have to manually reach for the mirror dimmer. For all that I love the way the car handles, the feedback it gives, the perfect control weights, Toyota blew the whole thing by forcing me to take my left hand off the wheel to dim the rear view mirror. Now I can never drive my car at night, or when the sun is low. 😭 It reminds me of the time I had to kick Scarlett Johansson out of bed for farting. I just couldn't look at her the same after that and we haven't spoken since. (Some of these things may not be entirely true) -

I wouldn't worry too much, if you're dealer is worried by your modifications then they can refer to Toyota for advice. In all honesty there are others with far more substantial modifications. I would simply show them the differences and express your concerns as they will only take it on if they are confident that is how it works. -

It’s been that long, thought I ought to say hello again, though I have been intermittently lurking. Still got the car, still love it, but work and house renovations have totally got in the way of doing anything else with it or to it... Bob is four this month. Still as much fun as the day I got him. I might even make more effort to stick around here. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Happy Birthday, Bob, good to see you're still around! -
1 pointTint your windows and you need never take you hand off the wheel to touch that toggle. Surely a safety mod right there 🤔

Thumbs up to Motorline for showing me the work in progress on the valve spring replacement at their workshop today.....a few pictures I've just taken...... -
1 pointI think it is, yes. I've had the Blue Edition on numerous occasions including for my recall. On the other hand it's hard to tell as my throttle is hyper sensitive since the remap. But I do think they have refined it somewhat over the earlier cars.

Nice guys at Motorline Toyota have given me this brand new car for a week with 14 miles on the clock.......after just one day I want to keep it -
1 pointI also distinctly remember seeing auto dim mirrors advertised. Having had all 3 mirrors auto dim on a previous car I was slightly disappointed for about 5 seconds and then thought ah well less to break down. I would have negotiated a free service instead and retro fit an auto dim mirror if I was that passionate about the issue. I'd be way more annoyed that I'd just written off a brand new car rather than complaining about a mirror. Please don't tell me somebody was blinding you with their lights and you went full rage mode, screaming poxy bloody mirror, while trying to reach for the toggle and lost control of the car?

I find it a bit sad that you’d buy a performance pack then complain about a lack of dimming mirror. Sounds more like you’ve wrote the car off so are trying to claim back your money from Toyota rather than your insurer -
1 pointI'd let it go, there are better things in life to do than worry about the lack of a self-dimming mirror on a car you no longer own.
