    MartinT's BRZ

I'll start this thread here and recap. White 2017 BRZ bought as a dealer demo with only 2000 miles on the clock. I love the purity of the design, all based around driver enjoyment and a few creature comforts but no additional thrills. Nice engine, great chassis, comfortable seats, crap radio. As I said, it's all about the driving. Mods to date: TD UEL NA package, TD full catback exhaust with Super Resonator. I have left the 2nd cat in place to remain vaguely legal. TD inlet pipe, HKS inlet duct, sound delete. Rota Blitz 17x8 ET35 wheels with 225/45 Michelin Pilot Sport 4s and replacement TPMS sensors. H&R Super Sport springs with about 33mm lowering.

    That unique GT86 sound!

I was looking up youtube videos about 6 speed vs 5 speed transmissions and what the differences are. I'm trying to learn everything I can so I understand my car. Sometimes I think, what exactly is the point of the 6th gear? lol. I'm sure some of you are rolling your eyes. Well, I clicked on one video, and there was a about a ten-second intro with some text and the sound of a car starting up and running. I thought, that sounds like a GT86! And sure enough, when the video started, it was! I definitely do not have a trained ear for different cars, but this car really does have a unique sound!

    That unique GT86 sound!

The sound is quite unique. It's a combination of the high revving four cilinder boxer engine and the exhaust system. Regarding the sixth gear, I think it's mainly there to reduce fuel consumption at constant speed, as well as getting a better environmental rating.

Yes, it does. I get it at least once every time I go out. I'm sure people are wondering "What the hell is that?" and "Wow, that's cool" simultaneously. lol

On the way home, I had a really cool experience. I was in the Blackwall Tunnel, so going slow obviously, and I saw this Bentley in the wing mirror coming up next to me, so I looked over as it came up beside me to have a look. Well, there was little boy in the passenger's seat, he couldn't have been more than 5 or 6 (and not in a car seat, and apparantly up on his knees). I smiled at him and he looked at me briefly, but for the whole 4 or 5 seconds that the car was beside me, he was looking at my car. I mean intently checking it out. I just grinned and thought, yeah, kid, you got it. You're on the right track. You might be in a Bentley, but forget that cumbersome thing, my car is FUN. It was just like one of those wistful car commercials with the romantic music in which a little boy dreams of driving a race car. If I were a film director, I couldn't have produced a more perfect moment. It was amazing!

    Tail Wagging

Adjusting tire pressures is nice way for simple & quick grip (or grip bias) adjusting on site, and for testing out some things, but in my book it's worth dialing suspension (alignment's camber/toe, and/or sways rates/misc adjustments of springs & shocks) right, so that when everything else is even, grip & it's bias is right on spot i want, and i can change/adjust using other means if wished both way from "neutral" or do change overall, keeping bias same, instead of keeping in mind pressure delta front/rear.

You get 45K from these tyres easily with regular rotation and road driving. I do that kind of miles up and down the M way and took me 3 + yrs and I was still at 3 mm. Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk
