Mark at Abbey Motorsport has done a superb job. He has found torque across the rev range, with 284nm max but a very good relatively flat curve and smoother, too. On the road, the car feels livelier, more willing again to rev than before and has a lot of go even in 6th on the motorway. The noise is noticeably smoother and lower in level. There is also nowhere near the heat in the engine bay after a spirited drive. All in all, a very good day. The colour coding is a bit weird: green/yellow lines are for the Rogue, red line is for the TD manifold. Yellow flash is the new torque.

Has the HP changed at all @MartinT? Although that torque graph isn't helping with my decision to stay N/A 🤔 😆

I don't think it was that kind of mechanical noise - there was no resonance peak, just that off-beat of exhaust pulsing. The supercharger definitely made it louder (that's the difference between turbos and superchargers, a turbo would make it quieter). It was fine before, but reached a point where I was uncomfortable going through our village late at night. I mentioned to Mark that you might be interested in a Rogue. He said to call him if you're interested so that he can get one in time for your booking with them.

Good choice of header Martin and decent increase ( circa 14 nm). I always need to remind myself Abbey has a hub dyno as am used to seeing 300+nm with SCs. A 10% correction will make it 310 on the flywheel. Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

No problem, Simon. Mark already found a buyer so the price was discounted accordingly [emoji4]

That looks like a really nice gain across the board for both torque and power 👍

That's coming together nicely. Black gloss door mirrors will match it well.

I'm at Abbey now. It looks nice in its box, so last photo before it goes in.

    Help with wheel offsets

Will definitely look into those, thanks. 🙂. Nice wheels by the way, really hope when this virus is sorted I get to meet up with people from here at japfest or an other event and see all your 86's/BRZ's.

Stoptechs vs AP racing 4 pot BBKs

Yup. Stock brakes can lock your tires already, so you literally cant gain from more braking force. However, give it 15 or so 60to10mph hard brakes, and suddenly your stock system isnt stopping you as well as the brakes are fading. BBK will take longer to start that fading process. NB - Its also for looks.

It's just a small thing, but I like my wheels finished with the proper manufacturer's logo. I found these very good quality roundels from an eBay vendor in Portugal. They are 55mm and fit the XXR centre caps perfectly.

A couple of people have asked me about fitment. Going from 225/45 on 17" to 235/40 on 18", both ET35, has increased overall diameter from 634mm to 645mm. The tyre fills the wheel well by 5mm more. Testing it against GPS yesterday shows that my speedo is now almost spot-on, over-reading by 1mph at 70. Gearing is very slightly longer, but it felt just the same as before. Poke is 5mm more and so is inner distance to suspension, so it's safe. Although the fronts look to be barely clearing the arches, there is no scrub on full lock. Scrub radius remains the same, so the alignment that Abbey Motorsport did for me remains good.

    Valve failure 2014 GT86

Not been driving my car much this year but has had it regular services with Toyota recommended oils. About 2 weeks ago I had a good drive around the country lanes, wasn’t fast driving but cruising around. Was about 30-40mile round trip. Parked it up for the night. Woke up next day to drive my partner to work I started it and it sounded like a proper Subaru I mean that rumble sound. I drove it 5 mins to her work and it cut out. Wouldn’t start. It didn’t run very well driving there either. I thought maybe it was just cold and had a misfire. I checked oil, level was fine. I left it for a few hours and got my dad to come have a look as he runs his own garage. Got it stated, it sounded like metal clunking so shut it off instantly. Got it towed home and waited till today to get it to the garage. Got sump off and found all this inside. First thing I see is the valve head. Here is a picture of most of bits in the sump. only mods are decat exhaust back. I checked my car for the valve spring recall but it does not come under the right vin number. Should I speak with Toyota about this or is this just my own problem to deal with now it’s out of warranty? Appreciate any help or advice anyone gives [EDIT - This car is at 65k miles] Thanks Sean
