When I did some work on mine, I could get a trolley jack to sit underneath, and just past the metal skid tray underneath the engine, there is a spot on the subframe to jack the entire front of the car up.

Looks like the car had a proper workout mate, gonna need a proper clean this weekend! Glad it took everything in it's stride! In car footage was great, did the Leon have much done to it in terms of software and bolt on bits? The Blue S2K looked rather tasty in your walk through video of the cars too!

This forum is excellent for advice, since joining here I have learned so much about the car! Any questions you need to ask on your journey, I am sure someone will be available to offer their advice

How are you finding the car Smudge? Dealing with everything you are throwing at it so far??

I think that is because most of the parts are in their early development phases.. Which would look like they don't have much of an effect.. I read the U.S. forums quite a bit because they generally get the great Japanese stuff first.. Toda and HKS are starting to make quite big strides with NA tuning. When I go to Fensport on Friday to get all my goodies fitted I am going to chat with Adrian to see what he currently knows on the subject. My ideal situation would be to increase displacement to 2.2L for a bit more mid range torque, but to then combine that with a set of aggressive cams to shift power right a bit and increase the Rev limit to say 8-8200 rpm. HKS have released a stroker kit of 2.1L complete with Pistons, beefed up valve springs and cams, but I think they are using it as a "development kit" to initiate much bigger inprovements. I want to change the throttle body and intake manifold too, but there are not any options for an improved manifold design right now, and there is no point changing the throttle body until that happens. I'm happy to be guinea pig though as far as my budget allows

Got to love the bead effect on a freshly cleaned car

Welcome to the club I too am doing a spot of N/A tuning, with the aim of cams/stroker kit next year. Will be good to see someone else go the same route instead of going FI with "easy power"

Sounds like a plan batman!

Hi guys, Just a quick one from me really. Whoever is in the Essex area and who are going to the hotel the night before Japfest, I was wondering if you all wanted to meet somewhere along the A12 and then go in Convoy down to Chippenham? Basically for 4 1/2 hours across the country I really don't want to be an 86 loner and thought it would be a good idea for us all to meet somewhere beforehand and then do the M25/M4 together? I have taken the day off work on the Friday in order to get to the hotel in good time, so anyone who is interested in joining me please let me know below! If we arrange a popular spot on the A12 that is easy to find, I thought interest might be high If not then it looks like I am going to have to try and amuse myself for the long trip there on my own haha

I think the two above summarise it perfectly, just don't speed where you know there is a risk of getting caught
-
That would be awesime mate, I don't plan on leaving until early afternoon any way as I too want to give her a good wash before I leave.. I'll pm you my mobile number over the next couple of days and we can sort it out closer to the time. But hopefully we can get a few others to join along the way too
-
Whereabouts is the detour you need to take Rob?? Could potentially meet you further round towards the M4 maybe??? as I'll be going northbound round the M25 to avoid the tunnel and Shizz obviously
-
Well depending on what time you leave for the hotel on Friday buddy I could meet you on the way down to Chippenham? You're only local after all and Witham is on the way as I go down the A12!
-
It does put a smile on my face every time I drive it! Obviously it isn't for some people, but to me it is the meanest combination I could think of, and I don't regret it at all! Got a huge increase in flow for power ready for when I get it mapped next week, and It retains that boxer rumble. I'm Interested to see what you go for

Certainly won't look out of place with the more expensive machinery! Done an awesome job there!
-
Glad they found a good home
-
To be honest I have gone the go loud or go home route! Borla UEL no cats and an Invidia N1, surprisingly bearable on a day to day basis. Although car alarms will hate you! This is the setup I have and I find it hugely addictive (note I had to find a vid on YouTube as I haven't got round to filming mine yet) I will grab some footage this weekend though.

Spending more money on mechanical parts is always more fun than cosmetics in my opinion
-
Exactly the same on the A14 and A12 too! Everything feels so pedestrian at that speed
-
So this was the surprise! Can't go wrong with a set of BBS's to be honest mate! They look ace
-
Congrats on the purchase
-
Surprised he said the chassis struggled with the bump in power, especially after thats exactly what many journo's said the chassis needed to unlock it's full potential! But I guess it all comes down again to the setup on the coilovers
-
Just try and avoid the M6 if you can as they have average speed cameras everywhere on that stretch past Birmingham Sounds like an awesome trip though buddy! I'm sure the 86 will hold its own!

Different is what will make the car unique after all mate

You should theoretically be making more power as cooler air is more dense, denser air = a bigger explosion in the combustion process therefore making more power. That is how it is for N/A cars, which is why your car feels faster in cooler conditions, and obviously a turbo car will still be going through that process. However your boost pressure should not be increasing and decreasing depending on how cold the air is, as that is electronically controlled at a set pressure (bar). Cool air will not "give" you more boost, it will only give the car more oxygen to use in the combustion process. Anyone is free to correct me though, not 100% on that.
