Everything on OR sport mode OR traction control off
JamesP1991 replied to trashy's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
I keep it on everything on in the wet, sport mode in the dry when I find a nice road and then everything off when I find a nice open space to have a play around Don't see the point of risking yourself and car on narrow roads with traffic etc, without having some assistance there. -
What about all the torque steer from all that extra power in that FWD Scirocco though?! Understeerin'ell!
-
Shame we don't get too many nice roads like that our way in Essex! It's all flat
-
Exactly the same setup as the Lancia Delta S4 which was also twincharged back in the Group B days! Supercharger for low end response, turbo for high end power
-
I stand corrected then guys, I thought response times would be a lot slower than that, and with most customers having different setups to each other would mean a lot of extra work tweaking In that case, the level of service sounds to be very good indeed.
-
That is a very long winded process in that case, and to be honest the amount of customers that will not have the Cosworth (nameless) exhaust will far outweigh those that do, meaning they would be causing themselves a massive headache tweaking every individual customers tune for their car (something Adrian could just do regardless).

A lovely place for a mini meet that

Wouldn't a three speed box be a bit long in the tooth Keith? I know you'd be packing a lot of power, and there isn't a lot of weight to push along, but the ratios will still be a very long with only 3 speeds... no? unless of course you'd plan on having the first three ratios fairly aggressive, with the overdrive very long and just used for cruising? Just thought I would ask the question as it is something that does interest me -
That would be a great breakthrough, because originally I remember hearing at Snetterton that it could not be altered at all!

Just can't catch a break can you Keith! -
That's a good point! You'd think they would throw a manifold in with a Cosworth kit considering that contains the most restrictive cat too which would sap power!
-
Yeah power looks spot on, and as I said, to hit just below 245hp at the wheels is a great achievement, The torque dip does look quite severe on the graph from 4k onwards, which is why I thought I would ask if you were expecting more from the kit in terms of torque gains, but if in the real world it really isn't an issue for you when driving, it is a win win I guess you wouldn't notice it as much on track anyway as you'd want to be above 5k most of the time to make the most use of that peak power at 7k
-
Great numbers Mike! 243 at the wheels is a great figure to reach! Torque numbers look a little low though? Or is that me?
-
Thought it would be When you say the issues, I am guessing you mean about blending in the front splitter to the original? Looks good though fella, can't wait to see it in the flesh at the hotel before Japfest!

Oi! We don't all act like those tossers on TOWIE! haha

You going to extend the body stripe across the new kit as well Rob? Think that is what makes the wheels looks small in my opinion!

I need premium membership by the looks of things -
Buckmore Park has some great elevation changes too, with the fast chicane where you drop down the hill leading to the tight 90 degree right hander at the back end of the circuit! Last time I went, which was just before Xmas, it was tipping it down with rain and it was great fun wrestling the Kart under the trees where it was especially slick with both leaves and standing water on the track! 45 minute race there was £60 odd quick I think??? Depends on whether we could get a deal there instead guys?

What's the cheapest you will let it go for buddy? -
I recently went to Rye House to compete in a 21 kart enduro. I was probably the second heaviest guy there at 16 stone (102kgs) but still managed to come 8th out of 21 runners after 2 hours worth of running. I was depressed until I saw the size of some of the guys who finished ahead of me, some I was giving away over 4-5 stone (25-30kgs) in weight! The Karts there are twin engine 4 stroke versions, and that helped me keep up somewhat, but the main area where I was always losing was just out of those slow corners where the kart was having to drag all my extra weight back up to speed compared with the featherweight guys around me! It normally means outside of the 2 stroke 125cc Rotax Karts, which have the powerband advantage to keep the revs up and stop my weight killing the engine on corner exit, I struggle to be as competitive as someone who is half my size haha! Obviously indoor circuits are notoriously slow compared with most outdoor and therefore that is why I hate them! An alternative could be Buckmore Park in kent guys?
-
Count me in, up until the age of 14 I used to compete in the junior categories, and then it got too expensive One point of note.. do you know how powerful the karts are as in engine size? I am not too competitive until you get to the more powerful karts these days due to my weight (blame Rugby)!
