Definitely the best bunch of car guys I've come across that's for sure! Everyone is here just for the love of the car, and are willing to share that with everyone else
-
Well you started off pretty well at Snetterton buddy! Can't be too much wrong with your driving! Looks like the idea of you taking the car to a twin charged setup seems to be quite popular above haha!
-
Really looking forward to seeing these Mike! Do you have any further developments planned for the car?
-
I think it just takes some time to clear. If there is a lot of moisture on the rear screen in the morning, mine normally takes about 10 minutes to fully clear! Bit of a pain if you need to reverse or see anything behind you though
-
Don't you love it when the posty brings you a big box for your 86

That is an impressive collection! -
The aesthetic changes I always hate doing as I think to myself that, that money could be spent on mechanical parts haha! But I think wheels and rear lights/wing is something that polishes the car off I am sure someone will have smoked Valenti lights on the cheap for you! Where did you get the wing from mate? Not seen one about on my travels when looking online.

Whilst in a perfect world I would do it solely for the noise, I think budget constraints and the missus will side firmly against it! I know the likes of Toda are already releasing larger TB's (68mm) for the FA20 platform, so if the ITB dream goes to pot, I will go that route instead. I know that the stock TB on the engine is rather large for an N/A application (65mm), however I might be looking at a custom or aftermarket intake manifold when they start appearing on the market. At which point a larger TB will be more beneficial and worth the investment. The aim first is to save enough for the stroker kit though, get the uprated cams, valves and pistons installed and then worry about TB's and intake manifolds, but if examples start appearing on the market soon I will look for feedback from over the pond (they always get the good bits first). The quality of parts on the market will determine what bits I buy first in what order! Let's see where this goes eh?!

Looks ace fella, carbon on a white car always looks the business!
-
I'm already catered for with my Invidia N1 Nige unfortunately! Plus I'm only fond of the twin pipes with a Y pipe design rather than a backbox, because I'm a tart like that
-
Got an Invidia N1 on mine buddy, it is lowered by 25mm and I have no problems whatsoever, even on speed bumps. Don't know how everyone else gets on, but I would assume it has never been too big of an issue?!
-
Yeah not to worry, will give you a nudge when they are up pal I am going to chat with Adrian and the gang about N/A tuning whilst I am there too.

A steal for a JDL product! They are very well respected over the pond, especially with their manifolds

Awesome! I will keep you updated on the financial situation then -
Just a quick update from me really to outline where I want to take my car over the next 12-18 months. Current fitted mods: Borla UEL Catless Manifold Custom Made Titanium wrapped overpipe (IWS Developments) Custom Made Catless Frontpipe (IWS Developments) Invidia N1 Catback Exhaust Blitz Panel Filter Blitz Suction Kit Agency Power Red Front Strut Brace Cusco high pressure 1.3 Radiator Cap Samco Radiator Hose Kit in Blue Japan Racing JR3 17x8" Wheels TEIN 25mm Lowering Springs Noise Generator Delete Next stop is Fensport in May to get the car mapped with the Ecutek Software and also to install the ACT clutch and Flywheel. I look forward to seeing how the car reacts, given I have the following setup now installed to improve flow: Borla UEL Catless Manifold Custom Made Titanium wrapped overpipe (IWS Developments) Custom Made Catless Frontpipe (IWS Developments) Invidia N1 Catback Exhaust Blitz Panel Filter Blitz Suction Kit To be fitted: ACT clutch and Flywheel After the trip to Fensport, we then have Japfest a couple of weeks later. After that weekend that is when I am going to get my head down and start saving hard as by the end of 2015 I want to have a few more items fitted. These include: MFactory 4.67 Final Drive Koni Adjustable Shocks Front and Rear Stoptech Brake Kit including lines, discs and pads. Aluminium Propshaft - maybe? http://www.fensport.co.uk/Parts/Model_108/Category_3/4604 http://www.fensport.co.uk/Parts/Model_108/Category_2/4459 http://www.tarmacsportz.co.uk/GB/GT86_StopTech_Power_Brake_Discs/GT86-GT86-StopTech-Power-Brake-Discs.aspx http://www.tarmacsportz.co.uk/GB/GT86_StopTech_Performance_brake_pads/GT86-GT86-StopTech-pads.aspx http://www.tarmacsportz.co.uk/GB/GT86_StopTech_Brake_Lines/GT86-GT86-StopTech-Brake-Lines.aspx I have been toying with the idea of a shorter final drive for some time. I have seen people rave about them on the FT86 forum on their N/A builds and the in gear acceleration improvements seem very appealing. With the 4.67 kit, theoretical top speed will be 153mph at 7500rpm and given I really don't give a toss about an increase of 2-300rpm at 70mph cruising speed, I think the pro's far outweigh the cons. Without the big power of FI pushing me along, a shift left of the gear ratio's is the next best thing. I want the shocks to fit inside my TEIN 25mm springs I have already installed and give me some adjustability for when I hit the track later on in the year. Stock brakes are reasonably good, however do like to overheat rather rapidly, so StopTech will be my preferred choice shortly after the Summer hopefully. Lightweight Ali Propshaft... we will see how many pennies I have left after the above?! By the end of 2015 if all things go to plan, everything will be on the car ready for the next phase in 2016. I will be staying N/A and instead of going the FI route, I want to see how far I can push this FA20 lump within my own budget. My ideal will be a stroker kit in the early months of next year, with pistons, cams and valves etc. I see a few weeks back that HKS have released their 2.1L stroker kit: http://www.hks-power.co.jp/en/product/engine/capacity/fa20.html However we still have 9 or so months of development until I am ready to buy a stroker kit, so it may be, by that point a revised and increased 2.2L kit may be available on the market. Who knows... This is just my own POA for the next 12 months or so. I want to be different, I don't want to go FI, I want to push this cars N/A ability within my own budget and hopefully come March/April next year I will be happy to say it is unique Anyway who wouldn't want to see what a stroked and uprated N/A FA20 will go and sound like? I will keep this thread updated as I go, next up will be a full round up of my day at Fensport on the 8th May.

2013 Pearl White GT86 TRD, cheapest in the country
JamesP1991 replied to Tilly's topic in For Sale GT86 / BRZ Cars
It will probably be late Summer so around July or August time, as Fensport are robbing me of all my money next month If you still have them by then I will be shocked, it all depends on whether you will still be active on the forum too that late? -

If only I had enough for the brakes It is next on my list! Hope you manage to find suitable buyers soon Mark -
So that is basically saying just do one or the other, but not both together from his experience? I went for a lightweight flywheel over a crank pulley, however will probably get the lightweight alternator and water pump pulleys further down the line. Getting it fitted next month so will see what effect it has.

An Essex meet?! Can it wait until after Japfest?? As I want to get all of my goodies fitted on to my car at Fensport first But yes totally up for that when we can get a good few members free at once
-
So got round to fitting the Agency Power front strut brace today in the sunshine! It fitted like a breeze with hardly any effort and will give her a good drive tomorrow to see what kind of difference it makes with initial turn in and front end responsiveness Engine bay doesn't look too bad now!

I'd say drop all badges, as than people will have a horrible time working out what car it is! With all badges on mine, someone still asked whether it was a Maserati?!?! Goes to show, even though the car has been released for 3 years now, the sheer lack of knowledge from people on the road as to what it is, is amazing! Shows how rare our cars still are

Toyota's New Sports Car Will Sit Above GT86
JamesP1991 replied to Captain Duff's topic in Non GT86/BRZ General Chat
I do have look at the import sites online to see what kind of prices a lot of the Jap cars go for now. Can get a very good R32 and Supra for around 11-15k now.. My normal wish list comes from Harlow Jap autos. Amazing to think these engines are over 25 years old now and yet examples from Japan are still pushing 500-1000hp! Be nice to see if the new example from Toyota/BMW can push the performance envelope for so long like its forefathers. -
It is incredible how heavy the stock system is! I was amazed when I took it off how lumpy it felt! Here is a cracking thread from the Ft86 forum how heavy each part of the exhaust from all different manufactures are: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42555 The Borla manifolds are so light, which is one of the reasons why I went for it, my custom mid and overpipes I weighed to be on the lighter end of the scale and I ended up going for the N1 as a combination of sound and weight.. Have a look at the thread and find out where your plans sit in terms of weight One point to note, if you are definitely going turbocharged in the future, it might be wise to get a 3 inch exhaust now, as it'll save you a lot of money down the line, buying a 2.5 inch exhaust now and then having to change it further down the line to improve flow. With induction systems, drop in filters with a proper intake hose/pipe generally perform just as well as a full intake system, as the stock airbox is so well designed, however the full intake systems do generate a lot of noise, so if you want induction roar they are the road to take

JamesP1991 replied to Captain Duff's topic in Non GT86/BRZ General Chat
I'd only ever be interested In getting a manual! I don't understand why they are so rare?! If I had a howling 2JZ underneath the bonnet pushing 500-600hp plus, I'd want to be able to rip through those gears Prefer that engine to the RB26 in the Skyline. -
Good to hear you guys had a nice time! Just too far for me to make an appearance!
