    Car Meet in Nevada

I love seeing the different approaches the guys over there take! Some of the money they pump into their cars is beyond belief! That silver one with the red headlights does look rather nice though, doubt it is legal in the UK to do that though lol! I wonder if they have more meets purely because the number of cars out there albeit still rare far outnumbers us in the UK.

Very nice Ztox, you going to just go for a catback, or also a high flow catted front pipe too? I too am saving up for the smoke Valenti's as I love the look of them

    Subaru STI Performance Concept

Can't see it being made, which makes me very sad The turbocharged engine they use in the race car for the GT300 class in Super GT has to be restricted any way. The rules are quite a lot more strict than the premier GT500 class. Quite a competitive class though with a lot of GT3 machinery in there. You'd expect without restrictors, the engine could make a fair amount of power for the road going version though, not that it is going to happen!

    My Silver Project 86

Forgot to mention that Keith! Got it on a lift this morning at my local tyre garage and saw that the top of my catback was slightly rubbing my prop.. So when the prop slightly flexed it tapped the exhaust and created that loud vibration sound! Managed to clamp the rubber bracket at the back of the car a bit to drag the catback down for now, but next week I'm getting my frontpipe custom bracket extended a bit which should offer a more permanent solution in lowering the pipe a bit. Thank you for offering to give it a listen though

    My Silver Project 86

So was a pleasure to meet you all on Sunday for the first time at the TSS. It was great meeting Nige in person and talking to him about his plans for his crazy Rocket Bunny project. It also gave me the chance to collect this little beauty off him at last, ACT clutch and flywheel: It is now going to sit on my shelf for the next month and tease me until I visit Fensport My order from Tarmacsportz is also on its way, so overall it's been a good week for car related bits!

    Quball's Pandem V3 BRZ

If it is polarising opinion you know it is working mate! The beauty of modifying is doing it your own way. To be honest they are a bit too in your face for me, however I commend the colour coordination and I applaud how much you have made the car stand out from any other owners really.

Adam's Stage 3 Turbo Rocket Bunny

I am booked in for May at Fensport. I will be getting a map, and installing the clutch and the flywheel. When I get home I will do a full rundown of the drive home and how it has changed the car, so will give you a nudge when that is published so you can take a look mate In regards to the Crawford BPB's, from what I have read up on the FT86 forum, they are most effective on a stock engine, as when you start mapping your engine and do a full exhaust upgrade (manifold included) the gains start to shrink. This is because by lengthening the intake runners, it shifts the whole torque curve lower down according to my knowledge. On a stock engine that is fine, as that is where the biggest gains are to be had. However with a map and a full exhaust system you are already eradicating power and torque black spots in the power band, meaning rather than a major upgrade the BPB's become a more complimentary modification. That does not mean they are useless, far from it, their effectiveness just shrinks. Independent test on them here: http://www.motoiq.com/MagazineArticles/ID/3443/TESTED-Crawford-Performance-FR-SBRZ-Power-Blocks-Intake-Manifold-Spacers.aspx

    My Silver Project 86

So I am becoming inpatient with waiting to go to Fensport in May, so this afternoon I ended up speaking with Chris from TarmacSportz regarding a few products and have accidentally bought a few more goodies to go on the car. So from next week these will be bolted on to the 86: Agency Power Strut Brace K&N Gold Performance Oil Filter Cusco Radiator Cap Just got to pick up the clutch/flywheel from Nige on Sunday and the car will start taking shape for Japfest!

Adam's Stage 3 Turbo Rocket Bunny

Looks good fella, to be honest the Nordschleife is a once in a lifetime experience. However you see so many compilation videos on Youtube of people dropping it on the grass when pushing etc, it does possess an element of risk. I think if you are sensible and don't push the car TOO much you would have a great day and come back from the Green Hell unscathed. Put it this way, would you regret it more if you didn't go at all? Like you I am staying N/A, and although I don't have the biggest budget in the world, I want to try and push this engine as much as possible (saving up for a stroker kit next year). Free flowing exhaust including catless manifold, remap and crawford power blocks are probably the best bang for buck mods you can do with an N/A car at the moment in regards to torque and power. Pulleys, lightweight flywheel and aluminium/carbon propshafts will not increase power, however it will release more of the power you have to the wheels, as the engine requires less energy to turn them. This means the car will be more eager to rev (and lose revs) and throttle response will be a hell of a lot better. This in turn makes the car faster as less weight to shove around, means more power to your wheels and therefore more usable power to make the car accelerate faster. With N/A it is all about reducing rotational mass as you don't have the massive grunt of FI, so I would say it is worth it. I am picking up a lightweight flywheel at the weekend, but I will also be looking at a pulley kit later on in the year, so it would be good to see how you get on too.

    Fuel gauge

I give in to temptation far too easily to be honest. The amount of cars I see right up my boot lid off roundabouts and slip roads. It gives me just the right amount of encouragement to drop it a cog and listen to the car sing.
  19. JamesP1991

    Fuel gauge

Noticed this a few times so thought I'd ask the question.. Pulled up from the drive home from work just now and noticed my fuel light was on long before the needle has even reached the red part of the reserve. I have never been brave enough to have played chicken with the fuel gauge, but when the car is switched off I do notice the needle goes a very far way down past the reserve mark. Why is it then that the low fuel light comes on so early when apparently I have a huge portion of the tank left according to the gauge? It's obviously nothing too important, but the thought popped into my head and so I thought I'd ask When do people on here feel the need to fill up and how low do you go? How far do you normally get in terms of miles in the reserve tank??
  20. I went with 17x8's with the view of staying N/A and with a 225 section tyre it should give you more than enough grip. Obviously the 18's are better for looks in some peoples opinion, however they will be heavier than the 17's which is why I didn't go that large. However it is one of those grey areas where you are neither right or wrong whichever method you choose, because at the end of the day it is all subjective to how you want your car to look/perform. Go with whatever makes you happiest

New guy - Pearl White 86 in Hertfordshire

Lovely looking EP3 that mate! The FN2 just never looked as good in my opinion. My friend has a supercharged FN2 and it does shift I have to say, but when you get behind the wheel of the 86 you realise why you chose it over anything else, I think wheels and springs are top of everyone's list to be honest. The stock wheels do get eaten up into the arches and the car sits far too high. Just watch out as once you catch the bug you can't stop

    Fuel gauge

42.1?!?! That's a pretty decent job! Jeeez the most I've averaged over my ownership is 37 and that was driving like a saint! To be honest though I drive sensible at the start of a journey but by the end of it I just get bored.. Bad habit I know!
