Frozen side windows - don't panic!

I remember back when I first bought the car and I experienced this problem for the first time! I was flapping so much thinking I'd have to leave the car outside all night with the window open haha! Looking back on it now I only have to laugh at how simple the solution is!

What kind of style wheels do you want? Always interesting seeing what choices people go for

Why do you think they put the indent in it Lauren? Judging by how snug it is around there I thought it was because of room, but maybe it is for another reason? But yes the front pipe is where the gains are

No worries Nigel, thought it was worth the question any way. I would snap both off you in a heartbeat when I got paid on the 1st April as I don't have the funds for it this month (which is why I asked if you would sell it separate) but I am not sure whether you would be willing to wait that long?

I found out when installing my custom over pipe too that they have even put an indent into the standard pipe (bottom half on the right hand side) so that there is a lot of clearance next to the steering column. My over pipe is wrapped in titanium which obviously makes it rather thick. When taking the stock pipe off and putting it on, I realised just how little room there is between the subframe and the steering column. I spent an incredible amount of time making it fit without rubbing and vibrating on the steering column. With the stock one, it looks like they had to compromise IMO and put that horrible indent into it so that it did not rub on the front subframe and steering column, I can't think why would do it otherwise? Only trouble is that ruins the exhaust flow somewhat so that is why I wanted to replace it. Difference between mine and the stock: I took a picture too to show how small the gap there is: Ah not to worry, what else do you think you will get whilst there?

Would you sell the Flywheel seperate Nigel? As a lightweight flywheel would be more beneficial for me, but not the clutch as I am still only N/A and not putting out a great deal of power that would require it.

Great choice buddy! The Tomei looks awesome and it will sound pretty epic combined with the sports cat. To be honest, whilst the overpipe is not really an area you can gain a lot in regards to hp compared with the front pipe, the stock design is still pretty average and quite restrictive. As seen here: It all depends on whether you think it is justified or not What date are you booked in for? If it is late April I might bump into you as I am booked in for the 29th. I know I will probably get a few goodies whilst visiting, the temptation will be there!

Driveshaft Inner-CV Problems on Lowered GT86s

I guess it will all be dealer dependent too! Some dealerships will be slightly sympathetic whereas others will be useless! Secondhand ones do look tempting but I guess you are just installing a ticking time bomb again as they will just go pop like the originals a bit further down the line. Whereabouts are you looking for the updated Subaru ones?

Driveshaft Inner-CV Problems on Lowered GT86s

No worries fella, let's just hope they will fix it under warranty and won't try and blame you for the problem due to it being lowered!

Driveshaft Inner-CV Problems on Lowered GT86s

What kind of ticking/clicking sound is it Jay? Almost like a clock ticking Or is it quite quick in its bursts? Be good to hear the feedback you get from Toyota on Thursday, if it is I'll ask about the condition of mine after it's service in May.

Driveshaft Inner-CV Problems on Lowered GT86s

Hmmm mine is just coming up to 16k miles and I have a service due in May so will keep an ear handy when driving to see if anything develops! Surprised with it being such a well known problem they haven't released the stronger ones.

    My Silver Project 86

Funny you should say that, we did joke after completing the job that the manufacturer and suppliers probably have a special tool to open up the clip very easily and that we were pretty dumb to use pliers! Ended up keeping the spring loaded ones on the top pipes and just replaced the ones on the main pipe with jubilees for ease Be great to see that footage of the machine they use!

Welcome to the forum Chris! I can assure you that the more time you spend on the forum the longer those 7 weeks are going to be! You'll be glad you waited though as the car is worth it

    My Silver Project 86

So yesterday I was bored of seeing the box sitting in my room and decided to get to work on installing the pipes! It ended up being nearly a 3 hour job but it was thoroughly worth it and I love the look of the engine bay now. Firstly the problems, to begin with my trolley jack at home was not low enough to get underneath the car to the front jacking point! So after completely forgetting to use the spare tyre jack to raise the car just enough to get under it, I ended up borrowing a low floor jack from a neighbour of mine. In addition to that, the clips used for the cooling pipes are just hideous spring loaded ones that are a right pain in the ass to both lock and shake off the lip of the pipes. It was here that me and my brother spent most of our time doing the job. The actual job took just 30mins, it was the clips that gobbled up the majority of the time! Makes me wonder why they didn't use jubilee clips as standard like a lot of aftermarket parts? Especially as they so much easier to work with! Anyway after much swearing I am pleased with how they turned out, and the engine bay is looking rather fresh now! Tested the system and there are no leaks so hopefully I have no problems Here are a few pictures from the work! On the jack ready to go: Front jacking point just infront of the bash plate: Pipes on the left hand side were fairly simple to fit: Bottom pipe was a bit harder due to the location so the intake had to be removed (note we spent 1 hour trying to remove the spring loaded clip under the car due to it not locking open): Finished product with coolant back in and everything back in place: Overall I was very happy with the result and it was well worth the hassle

    Gunmetal Supra rebuild from DW

Just such a shame it is an auto and not a manual I know manuals are rare but I'd still be tempted to do a conversion so I could really "drive" it. Beautiful unique car nonetheless!

Cheers for the advice Nige, spend a lot of time on the US forum as they have plenty of nice goodies over there. Will do a bit of digging over the next few days. I am guessing a lightweight driveshaft and flywheel would be the optimum choice then to help reduce rotational mass?

    Nigel's Daily Driver.

Hmmm In regards to the tuning potential, does the stage 4 avo have a higher capacity to hit bigger numbers or is the JDL a better prospect? Not read up much on the JDL turbo kits so couldn't offer my opinion on it! Does the JDL kit use Garrett turbos? As I can imagine you can chop and change Garrett turbos depending on how much power or lag you want. A nice dilemma to have nevertheless!

No worries Nigel, if you would want to send me a PM away from this thread to explain why I would be hugely grateful, as I would love to learn a bit more about that side of it including the problems it causes! Be good to expand my knowledge on that area of the car

    Nigel's Daily Driver.

Is that the same JDL from over the pond? Their manifolds have quite a good reputation over there too on the U.S. forum, it's just such a shame they are quite expensive! React well to a remap too

    ACT Heavy duty clutch.

I was more looking at the flywheel to reduce the rotational mass of the car, as I want to get one and a lightweight pulley kit to allow the car to rev more freely! The clutch would just be an added bonus if I was ever going to go down the FI route in the future

Would be all over this if I wasn't saving up for my map next month Nige! Look forward to seeing someone snap them up soon
