Keethos' GT86 Journey Back To Health + Mods

Love how you've acrually taken an idea from Forza and tested it in real life! Car looks rather mean now mate -
The car looks awesome with the Rays back on
-
Didn't need much convincing then fella Look forward to seeing you get everything installed!
-
Welcome to the club trashy! Lovely car and that blue is a great colour!
-
Cheers guys, will have a look at the suggestions you gave and treat myself to one of them Paint protection is not a subject I have a lot of knowledge in.

Hi everyone, Washed my car at the weekend given the weather was beautiful and I managed to find a few new chips in the paintwork. There is a couple on the bonnet that are very deep and have managed to take the lacquer off the paintwork as well as a few on the front splitter and the top of the roof! Now I don't drive my car that often and rarely on the motorway now, so my question was, does anyone else seem to suffer from chips and dinks on their car as easily and badly as me? Seems like the 86 is a magnet for chipped paintwork which I have not encountered on any of my previous cars before! Anyone else have any problems with it too? Really annoys me as when you see them they stick out like a sore thumb from then on! Any tips to try and prevent it too?

Front Valenti headlights don't look that great to be honest, I see nothing wrong with our headlights as it is in my opinion, aren't they are already LED and carry daytime running lights?
-
This thing is going to be so unique when it is done!
-
Got to admit I did laugh out loud at this! Sorry Rob!

Thankfully none of mine are starting to rust... Yet! When I bought the car I took out smart insurance that covers bodywork and paint damage so might get them done through that. I feel slightly better now that you guys have also suffered a similar problem, wonder why they have made the paint so thin on it? As I said above I have never experienced it this bad with any of my other cars. Now I prefer the "driven" look, not the type of show pony that gets wheeled out every 4 months for a show, but I want to try and protect the paintwork as best I can! Does anyone know if there Is something out there at all that can act as a protector on the paint to stop it chipping so easy?
-
Yeah they look class!

So the postie delivered these today from Fensport Just need to get round to fitting them now! Anyone else bought and fitted the samco cooling set yet? Was it pretty simple? Had a look under the bonnet and it seemed easy enough, just need to get the car on a lift to get to the pipes further down.

Hmmm not too bad considering! I can't afford a set of different rears just now but it is definitely something I want to do later on in the year! Haven't seen the 2nd gen Valentis yet, but my favourite has to be the Buddyclub version, best looking set on the market in my opinion!
-
How much were a pair through Japan Parts Ajay? They seem to be a fair bit more expensive on other sites compared to the Valenti rears.

Yeah I am yet to pass that stage unlike you guys! The reason I went UEL was that I thought I should make the most of the boxer engine tone, it is unique after all, just like a BMW straight 6. To be honest they sound a lot different to a scooby when giving it the beans in my opinion, at low revs it burbles and chugs away just like an Impreza, but at higher RPM it really screams in a rather unique way, and with no turbo to muffle sound you ride a massive wave of happiness all the way to 7400 rpm! Be sure to let us know how you get on with the map though fella You booked in for one yet?
-
Haha liking the mid range in yours now then Mark eh?
-
UEL Manifolds tend to give better mid range torque and the EL manifolds tend to react better at the top end, however the differences are subtle and it mostly comes down to how you want your car to sound. UEL will obviously give the burble and the EL more of a shouty tone. I have a completely catless exhaust system with a UEL manifold, and whilst I haven't had my car mapped yet (Booked in for April) I can certainly feel the difference in terms of response, power and torque. The primary cat is extremely restrictive in the manifold in terms of flow so eradicating that allows you to maximise gains with a remap. With a catted front pipe or manifold installed you certainly will get rid of a lot of the rasp that comes with an EL setup and of course it will be quieter. I was shocked how much of a different the manifold made in terms of performance to be honest. I'd say go for it, you will reap the rewards combined with a map

Spent the evening today gutting out that horrendous noise generator! Weight saved and engine bay cleaned up Also got this email from Fensport today! Samco cooling hoses will arrive tomorrow!
-
Thanks Lauren Will give them a bell tomorrow on my lunch break
-
Too many combos to list as others have said! Exhaust wise it all depends on whether you want a loud setup or a quiet! You'll find yourself watching footage of different combos and finding a setup that's suits you
-
Cheers Lauren, might give them a call as I can bet my local dealer won't stock them
-
Hmm £800 isn't too bad to be honest fella, I have just turned 23 and am paying just under £1000 a year to insure mine. I had a 155 turbo Mito before the 86 and I was paying £900 a year for that too! I would be pretty chuffed with your result of £800!
-
Might have one off you in the next couple of days then
-
Lovely looking car you have there mate, welcome to the club Nice to see another younger owner too, I got mine at 22 and have never looked back! What is your insurance cost at the moment? One of the reasons I went for the 86 was due to excellent insurance quotes for my age!

Any XL ones left Rob??
