Similar engine in characteristics albeit not revving as high and a lovely adjustable chassis! I'd say you were on to a win win! How much tuning did your FN2 have? As both stock there isn't a what you'd call a huge amount difference in performance
-
Sound like a steal Lauren! Whereabouts did you get your body coloured ones? Might like a pair myself
-
Been a bit naughty this evening and was looking at different bits I can do to help improve the engine bay and finally made my mind up! So tomorrow lunchtime I'll be purchasing the Samco cooling hose kit in blue and a blitz radiator cap! I'll also be gutting out the noise generator at the weekend to quieten down the cabin and shed some extra weight! As I have the cap to seal off the noise generator hole on the suction kit

One of the best looking 86's I've seen! Top work fella! How much were the TRD fins?

If you weren't so far away I would be right up for this! Hopefully a few others will be up for attending though and you can have a good blast -
The more I look at the 4.44 the more I find it would just bring the car alive that bit extra that it needs. A fair way off yet though, remap, brakes and other goodies are on the agenda over the next few months first Looking forward to seeing Fensports GT86R in the flesh for the first time!

Afternoon everyone, Just got off the phone with the guys at Fensport a minute ago. Booked my car in for a remap and if they twist my arm enough on the day some Crawford Power Blocks too. The date the car is booked in for is the Wednesday 29th April, so I just thought I would ask and see if anyone else is making the trip over to them on that day? They were fully booked in for all of March and Adrian is away In Oz early April so was the closet date I could get! Be good to bump into a couple of guys and have a chat

Google is your friend with this one, will tell you instantly
-
Not too far at all then, It would be lovely to see the car in the flesh
-
You are not too far from me Mike I think? I'd love to pop over and see the car once it has been completed!
-
Been chosen as the Guinea Pig then Mike

Trouble is, in the UK, exhaust options are still quite limited compared with the US, shame they always get the good bits first! Could be a job in there somewhere though, long term tester for all the big aftermarket companies, Free stuff all the time

Have a few friends of mine who have highly modified VAG cars, and they all replaced their Milltek systems because of dodgy quality issues when they went to push over 300-400hp. Cracks, rust and a whole variety of issued they had, so It's sad to see you have had problems too Lauren, you must be so frustrated even if it does have a lifetime warranty!
-
Very envious indeed Nigel! Can imagine you have learnt so much about the car with doing all of this too!
-
Yeah I have to hold myself back sometimes in terms of splashing out too much money on her otherwise the missus starts to complain It is definitely something that grows on you. Albeit now with my header fitted to remove the primary cat,the ability to have a conversation is reduced quite a lot, but my tolerances are probably a lot higher than other people who use the car every day so I take is as part of the character of the car! After the rest of the exhaust has been fitted do you have any other plans for the car? Awesome, There has to be a little side road nearby we can open her up so you can hear how the exhaust note develops across all RPM, and of course the obligatory wide open throttle launch

What kind of difference do you feel Deacon? Is there one specific area where you think the car has really come alive compared to the stock wheels? I think I had a bit of brain fade there Lauren?! Not sure why I said they were 7kgs the stock wheels, otherwise many lightweight wheels would be heavier than stock... Doh! Aftermarket wheel knowledge has never been my forte The ball park figure I got for my wheels was from a different thread on the other Owners Club forum.Given they are basically the same design as the Rota Grid's I would assume the weight would be near identical, however next time I take them off I will be sure to chuck them on a set of digital scales for you
-
Wow 11kgs is heavy mate! Are yours 18's? That is why I went for 17's as they would be lighter than a set of 18's so at least I would be able to save a bit of weight that way.
-
That's a shame Quball! They did say they were fully booked up in March and most of April so no doubt I will bump into someone else on the day down there
-
Just seen this Lauren, my apologies! I do believe the 17" version of the JR3's are around the 8kg mark, so around 1kg heavier than stock (I think?) so not too bad in my view. The reason I didn't go for Volks or Rays was that I wanted to save my money for doing more of the mechanicals underneath, as my budget isn't endless. I would have in a perfect world, but going for a lightweight wheel wasn't my priority, pushing the N/A aspects of the engine was as well as getting a nicer suspension and brake setup. Do you know how much your set weighs in comparison then?
-
Cheers for the feedback Palsx. What one did you go for? The 4.67 or the 4.44 final drive? The biggest gripe I have with the stock ratios is that 5th and 6th are just far too long for my tastes and it means the revs just drop right out of the sweet spot in the torque band.
-
To be honest a bit of a whine would be an added bonus in my eyes! If I closed my eyes I could almost imagine the car had a straight cut gearbox Nice to see they do have quite an effect though, Might treat myself later on this year around Christmas time once I have done a few other bits including the brakes
-
I generally am rather smooth behind the wheel to be honest Lauren, but sometimes the car almost teases you into pushing it above the limit off hairpins and tight corners All that experience racing karts when I was younger doesn't rub off easy, Sliding=Slow after all!
-
Yes I am really looking forward to it Kevin! I really want to sit in and experience a couple of turbo cars that evening to feel just how much of a step up they are compared with N/A cars.
-
That is exactly what I did! I listened to countless hours of video footage from guys who had the Borla header fitted with either catted resonated or decat pipes. I have always loved loud cars to be honest (grown up around them), and as it isn't a daily driver I wanted the car to feel raw, untamed and race car like in it's tone when I drove it. I have already got used to the increased noise volumes on the Motorway, and to be honest cruising along at 70 without much fluctuation in throttle, I hardly notice much difference to when I had the stock header installed.
-
Cheers for the feedback Jay, will probably be something I either do later on this year or next year given it is quite expensive, so it is good to hear from someone who has some personal experience driving it. When it comes to in gear acceleration did you notice any considerable gain in terms of it feeling more urgent?
