I wanted Bilstein's over anything else, but due to the ease of Fensport selling Koni's and having Dave being able to fit them at the same time there (as I am quite close to them) I thought that would be the right way to go. The Bilstein's were hard to track down for me, or I could have just been looking in the wrong places. What kind of issues did the Koni's have? Bushing hasn't been an issue for me so far, but I thought with the lowered springs and new shocks, it would be wise to change them at the same time. I would be intrigued to see what feedback Mark can give us on the matter though.

I currently have 25mm Tein springs in mine with the geo all done and can confirm the car does feel tighter and more responsive on the road with less body roll when pushing on. Ride comfort is only slightly worse on the worst bumps. For £150 from Fensport it was a no brainer for me. I am planning on putting Koni shocks inside them towards the end of the year and finish it off with some improved bushes, now the car is turbocharged and running a bucket load more power. Like you I couldn't justify or afford £1000 just on suspension at the time, and wanted to do it in stages instead. The springs are a short term solution which have improved the car, which I will now finish off now I can afford it with shocks and bushes later on this year

Found it It says 6.9 to 60 though, not 6.7... oops! That is for a totally stock car.
-
The 0-60 times are much faster than the 0-62mph times as our second gear runs right out of puff at the wrong time. Some magazines do 0-60 and others 0-62mph so there is always a massive variation with some doing gear changes and others trying to hold out in 2nd. The gear change costs around 0.5 of a second. Remapped cars with a higher rev limit of 7650rpm can do the 60 dash without the need for 3rd gear and most people get 6.4-6.5 I think? There was a picture floating around somewhere of a GT86 on a Toyota stand with a 0-60 figure of 6.7 seconds stock? Will try and dig it out...

It's 99 remember Joking aside, Andy the guy who fitted my kit is sending all the pictures over from the build tonight for me, so I will order them and then upload them all in one post. I will then do a full write up in a post underneath. Thought that would be the best way to structure things

I guess that is what you pay for... the R&D instead of having to worry about it yourself when it comes to tuning etc? Isn't the cossie unit good to like 400hp like the HKS is without restrictor too?? I wasn't sure....

I can't have people talking about Diesel on my thread.... Blasphemy!

Intake, exhaust, manifold and then remap will yield the best gains and have everything optimised. If you start adding exhaust components after a remap you will then need to map the car again to gain the full benefit of them

Hi Matt, Welcome to the club, nice to see you jumping on the mod train already! look forward to meeting you at Japfest 2

Gradual boost logs will be sent to John this evening to make sure everything is running fine higher up in the rpm range. I had confirmation that the idle and cruise log figures looked good, so I am happy with that. I have also booked the car in to be custom mapped on Saturday on a dyno at Torque Developments International in Thurrock. Had a great chat with Sam there today. They will be modifying the turbo map using my own Ecutek programming kit and license. I have already rang the guys at Fensport and they said everything should be fine to do it that way. Adrian has been super busy at the moment and can't tell me how long it is going to take to road map my car to his liking, so a proper tuning company and dyno was the next best solution in my eyes. I don't want to drive the car too far on the basemap, so seeing as they are only 30-40 minutes down the road from me I thought it was the best decision. Looking forward to it and posting the results

I'l check the file when I get home, as it is on the laptop and report back. I have been relaying information back and forth to Adrian though and getting advice, as obviously having done all the work on my car beforehand, I trust him more than anyone. Well that isn't reassuring, It was his flex fuel kit for E85 that had a leak wasn't it? Caused a fire and then the rest is history.... I have noticed he can be a bit abrupt in conversation through emails, but has been very good with his response time and info. I am probably getting the kit custom mapped by Adrian when I can afford it though as being in the UK it is the easiest solution.

Free sound generator on/off mod using 12v cover from glovebox
JamesP1991 replied to DanJ's topic in Modifications
In my opinion it is unnecessary and only makes it difficult to talk to each other in the cabin. I have been running catless for months now and so I never heard the noise generator induction sound any way, to me it was just added weight which just made the engine bay look busy. But on a stock car, some people may like it? Everyone is different after all -
Didn't realise they had changed the rating! The turbo map is optimised for premium fuel any way, so I can't see there being any problems.

I always thought Nitro + was 98 RON?!
-
Yeah I only use Shell V Power wherein possible. I have a Shell garage 2 minutes down the road from me, so I would be stupid not to! Never trusted Tesco fuel to be honest, and BP 97 is horrible and way too expensive for what it is. In my area it is more expensive than V Power?!?!
-
I mentioned about the fuel quality I will be using (98 RON) and the difference between the US (C ROM) and European (D ROM) Ecutek formats, and John said not to worry about it and he had it all covered so I am guessing he has modified it to be perfectly fine in UK cars. He's done a great job so far with me and the slight issue I had on the first map he rectified right away

No problem, it will fit in an envelope so I might just stamp it and send it in the post that way? Will easily fit through your letter box RE turbo kit. Turbo is all plumbed in and running. A revised basemap was sent over from John V after getting a fault code on the first map. Uploaded it and all appears fine for the moment with no faults. Sent over some idle and cruise logs for him to check first before I get the all clear to drive normally again, and then it will be a case of saving a few pennies to pay for some proper custom mapping to be done by either him or Adrian
-
Sure is! Chris Riggs from Speed By Design recommended him. He has a lot of experience with the SBD turbo kits and offers custom mapping for them so thought it was a no brainer to work with him to get a good basemap on the car. I did slam on the pedal 2-3 times before start up as I knew about the dead spot before, but I guess a few more are needed to totally sort it out Apart from that though, everything appears to be running fine, and I am just waiting on his email today to confirm the idle and cruise logs that I sent are spot on, or if the map needs a bit more tweaking. We will see

Just a quick update.. After much swearing over the weekend, and a P0107 fault code, I went out at 10.30pm last night, uploaded a revised basemap that was sent over by John Visconti, and the car ran fine with no problems. He requested a log from me showing the idle and cruise figures, so after I let the car run for 5 minutes, I took it for a short 5-10 minute drive logging the car stationary and when cruising and sent it over to him last night. The ECU was still learning the new map on the drive so the idle and throttle application was a bit choppy to begin with, but by the end the car was pretty spot on. Just waiting to get his approval today that the figures looked good and I am free to drive normally for the rest of the week. I will also do some more aggressive driving on boost, which will probably mean some WOT logs that need to be sent over to John later on in the week, just to make sure the car is behaving itself A full write up and pictures will be updated later on, I didn't have a chance over the weekend as I was too busy mapping and sorting out issues!

Yep lowers cabin noise a lot! Or alternatively if you would like to free up room in the engine bay too you can just rip the whole thing out! That is what I did and it is surprising how much space all the pipework takes up. Before: After: -
Good stuff Matt! Found the little noise generator silicone join over the weekend, so I will send that out for you tomorrow morning and you will be able to get the intake pipe on too

Do it! They are awesome! Can't beat that fat single exit! Although they do drone like hell apparently.. But eh.. Who cares?!

Yes buddy the blitz one as far as I know is completely washable. -
Ouch that's very expensive! I know buckmore Park, whilton mill and rye house are all cheaper than that and they are graded for European competition! Are there any others near you guys?
