The old cam cover oil plate leak. A common issue. Yeah it will be covered by warranty. There are better quality aftermarket options out there for it too.
-
+1 to what Dean said. Sound deadening will make little difference due to the low frequency it's resonating at.
-
Was the diff oil changed at the service?

Thanks for post, looks like an awesome trip! Something I'd like to do. Did you plan the whole thing yourself? You seemed to of covered a lot in under 2000 miles. Have you got any photos of the car with the bikes on it? looks very novel.

If you can't see any level when its stone cold on a flat it will need a top up, Its not uncommon to have to top up the coolant (albeit it should never be regularly!). I've had to do mine once.

You might want to stagger the spacers to get the same appearance front and rear, I went for 15mm up front and 20mm on the rear, looks so much better than stock. 20mm F and 25mm R is a good combo too. In terms of handling it doesn't make any difference to the way the car behaves, the only thing you will notice is a slight increase in the weight of the steering.

I can't figure out why it's been written off though. I know the categories have changed but I don't understand what causes it to be written off when the value of the car is much higher than the repair cost. Hopefully the owner might be on here

I'm guessing blown motor

You will need a regular GT86 cover along with a gazebo to cover that rear wing

Dont worry about forged wheels 90% of aftermarket wheels aren't forged. JR wheels are budget wheels but they meet 'JWL' standard which is stamped somewhere on the wheel. That's Japanese Light Alloy Wheel Standard. So have some credibility. Camber bolts are cheap as chips. As long as you pick a set of springs which don't drop too low and have respectable spring rates you will have no issues.
-
Yeah but cheaper coil overs are cheaper for a reason. Either way most springs will run fine on stock dampers. Mine have and so have many others.

Any changes to the suspension other the LCAs? Springs anti roll bars etc?

Project car for what? Track? Road? Restoration? Daily? Unless it' anything special an E34 rolling shell is scrap money.

Sub 300 Aftermarket Manifold on eBay
Varelco replied to sazabiskythe's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
If you could get a high quality, high performance manifold for such a cheap price (sub £400) then we would all be running them. Unfortunately this isn't the case. -
I'm not sure what you a trying to achieve. It sounds like you are trying to prove a point. Who cares what you can and can't keep up with, as long as you are enjoying yourself it doesn't matter. You can modify your car to keep up with a Porsche but why? Just buy one. I've driven the Abbey Harrop supercharged 86 on the road and it added nothing to the enjoyment of the car. I just found myself having to look further ahead and stamp on the brakes earlier. I jumped back in my NA 86 and was more than happy with it.

That is impressive, I haven't seen a boxer rev that high (Honda engines yes). Yeah you're right you will start getting valve float well before you reach anything near that RPM, and then the oil pump would probably starve the engine and sh*t itself too. I've heard of a couple of instances where somebody has "money shifted" their twin and it survived but I wouldn't count of it lasting very long above say 8500rpm.

Same as Ade mate the 3.8. I got mine from Mccormick tools as that was the cheapest place to find it at the time. Unless you got another use for it you wont need the 5 (saves you a bit of cash). The 3.8 is rated upto 85Ah batteries. They seem to be well respected, Porsche, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Lambo and Bentley all sell rebranded CTEK chargers.
-
Mine isn't that toasty, not compared to other cars. I find I have to set the GT to 25-26degC to match 22degC in my Golf. The heated seats are more slightly luke warm seats too.

CTEK is the way forward. I was in the same boat, a bit of research and it was clear what to go for. Hook it up switch it on and leave it. Simple.

Wanted roots type supercharger (used)
Varelco replied to Stephan's topic in Wanted GT86 / BRZ Cars and Parts
I thought this also. OP its top end power you will want on track seeing as the car is pretty much sat above 4k for the entirety. For that you are better off with a centrifugal supercharger. For one its going to be more affordable, i'm sorry but are never going to pick up a Cosworth, Harrop or similar supercharger on your budget. A Sprintex yes, but on track its know that these can get hot and struggle to keep intake temps down. The advantage of a centrigufal blower is they tend to be cheaper, so will fit your budget, and use an air to air intercooler which is going to keep those intake temps lower on track. -
Wanted roots type supercharger (used)
Varelco replied to Stephan's topic in Wanted GT86 / BRZ Cars and Parts
Thats not true. The Harrop, Edelbrock and Cosworth supercharger are all Root type supercharger Sprintex/innovate is twin screw hence the noise. -
25mm is ok 20mm isnt. Fits the stock wheels fine though as said above. Thats what im running currently.
-
I love this thread. Simply because resistance is futile "I'm not going to modify this car" ....Yeah ...He'll have a supercharger on it before the years out.
-
Didn't have a good day yesterday did you Twigman lol? After my battery deterioated it did the same and just went nuts, the car alarm would go off quietly and there was absolutely nothing I could do to stop it other than remove the battery terminals. That only happens when the battery is completely shot. That happened at 11pm in winter too.
