This confuses me because from what I've read the ride is more compliant on the B6's in comparison to B8's despite them having the same valving. I can only base that on owners reviews on this chassis. Anyway without digressing further. I have no difficulty understanding that altering your suspension is a matter of compromise, sacrifices are made between ride comfort, handling, longetivity and cost primarily. I simply want further opinions on the B14s as they are potientially a very good value option from a company with a good reputation. I have owned 4 sets of coilovers on previous cars so have a good idea of what to expect, however they have never been Bilsteins, monotube or fitted with progressive springs (which to me is not a normal configuration on coilovers)

Yeah I did consider that Ade but I can only source B8's which personally I'm not sure on as I understand they are harsher and sacrifice droop travel, not to mention they aren't much cheaper (Near enough on par if I sold my Tein springs) Whilst the Bilsteins are hardly feature rich compared to the Teins, they are monotube, the stock top mounts are more appealing to me than the pillow mounts and the fact height is determined by the spring perch means the damper is longer. I have no intention of slamming the car (30mm max) as I value driving on less than perfect roads and I need the ground clearance on my trip to work, so an extra short damper offers no real benefit.

Oh really? I was on Ambers website earlier and they were nudging £1k with VAT...
-
Gonna bump this. Any more B14 owners who can share their experiences? I have been tempted by Tein Flex A as everybody raves about them but i can get hold of the bilsteins for £700. I'm on tein springs and stock sachs dampers at the moment the ride quality is pretty good, what will these be like in comparison? I fancy blowing a load of cash on my car lol.

I found a worn thing - not sure what it is, or how concerned to be - pls help

ignore. I was going to say its caused by the wheels but then I realised its on the rear and they aren't made of cheese. -
Out of interest how do they bolt up to the lower arm? There is no bush.

I bought my GT86 to be a daily but after I looked into it further there wasn't much of an additional cost for me to run 2 cars, so I ended up keeping my trusty old Mk4 Golf which it was intending to completely replace. Best decision I made, they are like chalk and cheese, switching between the 2 cars is great, going from a 14 year old diesel FWD Golf with 206k miles on it to a nearly new RWD petrol sports car is incomparable, it really makes the 86 feel special when I jump into it and funnily enough its visa versa when I jump into the Golf. I definitely think you appreciate the 86 more when you have access to other cars (which aren't like for like).

I don't know where £3k came from but when I looked on the TTS website the DIY kit was £3.3k without VAT, ECU software and tuning. It's not a budget option IMO. The plug and play package is £4.2k + VAT
-
@xxJaRxx I think you are best off just contacting JR or TTS. The fact is its not really a popular option in the UK if you look between the 2 forums. All you will get out of this thread is people comparing/arguing about the other options available, which one is the best/better value/best power delivery etc etc.

Yeah thats a Seidoworks whaletail, I'm pretty sure you can only get them unpainted.

So it felt smoother but less quick, I'm not sure whether to judge that as a good thing or a bad thing lol. Was in gear performance improved, for example pulling out of tight bend in 3rd or a lane change in 6th on the motorway? Sorry taking this off topic, I'll shut up now....

I am in exactly the same position. I love how my car sounds with its current set up (Perrin resonated cat back, Fujitsubo de-cat front pipe, stock manifold and OP) however if I fit an aftermarket manifold it will be far too loud. For me It's a question of whether the gains are worth the hassle of the cost and juggling different parts. I noticed your remap shortened and shallowed out the torque dip on the standard manifold, is it noticeable different than before? Thanks for posting the video Deacon, it sounds better than I thought it would, definitely not loud by any means but you can still hear it. UEL exhausts sound lovely when they aren't loud. I wonder if much volume would be gained if the cat wasn't fitted in that manifold.

Buying a supercharged gt86 with no experience of modified cars
Varelco replied to ThatGuyThere's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
I recognise the car. Originally owned by Zenkizero on here, its safe to say its one of best modified example around, he only fitted high quality parts to that car. Everything is reversible but will obviously require your time or money to do so. You won't get 3k for a HKS supercharger, thats basically new kit terroritory, If im honest you probably wouldn't end up removing it anyway Coilovers can be adjusted so thats no real big deal in terms of clearness, however they will be firmer than the stock suspension. Your best bet is to test drive it, thats the only way to gauge the loudness of the exhaust and harshness of the ride. -
I'd still buy one personally, People pay 3 or even 4 times as much for a cat back that sounds good, which seems widely accepted yet an intake isn't worth the money. They are doing the same thing and net similar gains.
-
Probably not I think it's more orientated towards noise. Do you have any sound clips of you current setup? I'm thinking of getting a catless manifold but can't deal with extra noise so I may end up fitting my stock exhaust back on too.

Revisions to the original lights are like for like. Similar to the battery, the 65Ah version is still considered like for like.

Sorry missed this Kev, all sorted mods please close

As the title suggests. I'm after a stock overpipe please. Must be in good nick with the studs intact (no damage/cross threaded nastiness) PM me. Thanks Matt

Magic. Thank you.

Unrelated question. What size is your rear plate? Is it import sized? Looks smart.

My Custom Hayward and Scott Cat-Back Design and Proving
Varelco replied to Ade's topic in Modifications
How much did this set you back Ade? Really interesting read and alot of work has gone into it but I can't see why an off the shelf exhaust wouldn't do the same job. An Invidia Q300 would of given you a similar result. -
Sits really nice on those wheels. What springs were fitted? And what are the spring rates out of interest? 40mm is a big drop on stock shocks especially at the rear where there isn't alot of travel. Do you still have the bump stops fitted?
-
Thats awesome can't wait to see it in action. Curious to see what blower they used.

Not all manifolds are equal in terms of volume. They can't really be categorised as catted and non catted. The tuning developments and the similarly designed FA20 Club manifolds are aggressive. Keith after seeing that video your car is very harsh on overrun, you need a resonator in there somewhere
-
Don't forget the Jag F type. Have you ever heard the V6 on overrun? it is ridiculous... ...Ridiculously good.
