The Giallo seems a little on the expensive side to me, but then again its worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. With regards to the forums I use both, like most cars there is more than one forum, its always a good thing to be involved in both I think. You'll like the 86, I had a VX220 before hand (as you are aware very similar to an Elise) and find the whole experience with this car more enjoyable, you get the great driving experience without the harshness and impracticality, although there is no hiding the fact its quite a bit slower.

Intec high Level Brake Light - Special Offer !
Varelco replied to James@Amber's topic in Amber Performance
@GT86-Ian is that eBay link the same stuff as what you used? Your rear deck looks real smart, I'll order some if that's the case. -
Guilty pleasures. What would you give up your GT86 for?
Varelco replied to Nicebiscuit's topic in Non GT86/BRZ General Chat
The new Mustang GT.... ...In fact I will be but not for a while yet, completely different car but that's the fun of it. -
Hi Folks, Quick question for the tuners and people in the know, is the secondary O2 sensor (the one downstream of the cat) used for any control purpose by the ECU? As in fuelling and/or ignition, or does it purely exist to monitor the efficiency of the cat? I know this varies between cars.

GT86 BRZ Tuning Package from Tuning Developments
Varelco replied to Mike@TD.co.uk's topic in Tuning Developments
A great looking package its just a such a shame there is no option for a catted version. Bit of lost opportunity there, i would go for it if there was. Would help keep the noise down too.- 231 replies

Would it not be a better idea to just get it fixed? Its not like its gonna cost you.

Lol I like the rats. Interesting choice of wheel, the style looks more suited to an evo or even a 4x4. Looking forward to seeing them fitted. The finish is nice. Does this mean the Fox wheels are going?

Recommended dealers for servicing in Kent?
Varelco replied to Robster's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
For servicing the only place I'd consider going to is Abbey Motorsports in Oxted. Can't comment on dealers as the only dealings I've had were with the Canterbury branch for my test drive, they were pretty lousy (blunt, disinterested, knew nothing about the car). -
+1 Spent plenty of time mucking around trying different wipers, ultimately OEM has always come out as best for me.
-
Yeah that's the only downside, they aren't cheap! Mine never made a noise though.

Although not on this chassis I've used Project Mu Type NS pads and they were brilliant. If I ever manage to wear out these stock pads I will be fitting Project Mu's

Stunning. After seeing the photoshop those 57getters really finish the car off. Your car is by far my favourite GT86/BRZ/FRS.

Consequences of impending nearby construction
Varelco replied to nerdstrike's topic in Non GT86/BRZ General Chat
The most effective way to prevent the fallout from doing any harm to your paintwork is to simply hose off the dust as and when, unless the car is genuinely dirty then don't even bother washing it. Trying to pick it up with a wash mitt/sponge/cloth will just increase the risk of scratching your paint as that stuff will be really abrasive, let the water collect it up and drag it off for you. If your car has a good coating of wax/sealant which is pretty hydrophobic the dirty water will just fall off leaving the car clean anyway. The thing I'd be worried about is the traffic, my 86 has been a victim twice due to idiotic drivers hitting it. The only way you are going to reduce the risk of your car getting dinged is to park it away from the area completely, or at least avoid being near any corners and tuck it as far off the road as you can. -
Hi all, I'm having the geo set up on my 86 next week and need a bit of help with what to go for. The car has been lowered 25mm and i've fitted adjustable rear camber arms and will be fitting camber bolts up front so I can have everything dialled in. I was thinking of having the rear set up back to the stock settings and dialling in some camber up front (1.2-1.5deg) for a bit more turn in grip, I've noticed the corners of the tyre have scrubbed a bit so my guess is I'm rolling onto the outside of the tyre when pushing it. I'd like to keep the handling neutral with more tendency to oversteer rather than under but i don't want to make it a handful if that makes sense, need to keep it predictable. Recommendations? (Car doesn't get used on track, is on Tein -25mm springs and stock dampers, stock primacys with stock wheels on spacers.)

One word: Carwow So glad I was told about it, id recommend anyone buying new to check them first.

Ade do you intend to stick with just a cat back? As that would be a big influence on your decision. As you are probably already aware freeing up other sections of the exhaust can make this car get A LOT louder, if this is the case and you're going to change out other sections I wouldn't consider anything other than the Q300 or a Greddy SP Elite tbh.

I think they hold their value quite well. I paid £22.5k for a brand new one with leather and the JBL sound pack. If 2-3 year old cars are still fetching £17k I don't think that's bad.

Slip on spacers are ok as long as you have enough available thread. For M12x1.25 studs the minimum is 8 turns. One disadvantage with slip on spacers (primarily thin ones) is they aren't hub centric, which will mean the weight of the car is taken by the studs and not the hub.

So you want a turboed two litre flat four?
Varelco replied to Nicebiscuit's topic in Non GT86/BRZ General Chat
'Better' is subjective. My dad has a 12 year old MX-5, its great fun and generally a great car, my GT86 is £20,000 more expensive than but is it £20k better? Not likely. I have no doubt the new Cayman and Boxster will be awesome cars and I'm sure the new engines will be just as good but I'm not sure how id feel owning a Porsche with a turbo 4 pot in it, nothing special about it, its just a logical, sensible engine, like you say the 6 cylinder engine is a huge part of the appeal, where is the sense of exclusivity when everyone is driving around with a 4 banger under the bonnet. -

An interesting article on the new turbo engines I found not so long ago: http://www.porscheboost.com/content.php?6933-A-technical-look-at-Porsche-s-new-B4-modular-turbo-flat-4-engines-and-comparison-to-the-B6-turbo-flat-6-including-redline-bore-x-stroke-compression-ratio -
Nice choice of mods Andy. Is there any noise off the new FD?
-
Front end yes, rear end no... no no no. The back of the car looks like a Friday afternoon job, I loved the 1 series coupe (was the other option to the 86) but this just doesn't do it for me. Do like the blue though.
-
I wouldnt of thought so. I might back it off and go for a drive and see if it makes a difference, its easy enough adjust
-
Interesting verdict! I have to admit I have a Beatrush master cylinder stopper fitted to my car and think it's a waste of money. Made absolutely no difference to braking feel for me.

Does this loop directly under the intake? Are IATs not increased?
