Be VERY careful who you buy parts from

I'd concur with knightryder. Cut your losses. And probably a lesson for the rest of us that realistically customer service is rarely going to be as good for somebody half way around the world. In my experience (not car related) often expectations in US are different - in particular with regard to who pays carriage. They don't have the consumer laws we do (at the moment) in UK. So possibly your expectations were unrealistic (if not unreasonable) They're unlikely to get any more custom from Uk readers of this forum, but perhaps that's no great loss to them either given the potential hassle vs selling to the local market where this issue would have been much easier to sort. Presumably you sourced from the US based on price. Maybe there's a reason that UK suppliers are more expensive. If you're sailing very close to the wire as a business you don't have the flexibility to put things right. The $250 offer should cover a repair though surely. I'd take it and chalk it to experience. Agree that it sucks though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ok fair enough. I'm sure you're right, but it's not a great recipe for selling that many of them. A few factory tweaks could have resulted in the car aceing every comparison rather than the slightly qualified approval the car has received. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Well all their competitors manage to offer different specs and states of tune. Perhaps the car would have sold better if they had? I know the debates been had elsewhere but this is a hard sell value wise against an MX5 now. And I went for a Primo precisely because all the important bits would be identical to a vastly more expensive Aero. Why spend more for some tinsel? I could stick a turbo on my car and it would STILL owe me less than an Aero. This isn't a poseurs car, it's a sportscar. For more £ I want more performance. So I spent the bare minimum with Toyota and took the money saved to someone else who would give me some tangible benefits in return. Just doesn't seem a great marketing plan. Toyota claim they can't do it, but all their competitors offer more genuine variants, and more choice. You can't even spec wheel upgrades from the factory. You can do that on pretty much any shopping trolley... And then they build some promo vehicles and don't even offer the parts fitted in case we wanted to replicate them. What's the point? Here's what you can do with an 86 - oh but we won't let our dealer network actually help build you one... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Not necessarily, If you guys want that same spec TRD in the UK then the club can make it happen by voicing their opinion. TGB Silently read this forum and they are happy to take advice on models & future models. Do they? In which case why are we still sat here 4 years on from launch with essentially one spec of car and various special editions with a few cosmetics? Not blaming the UK particularly as I'm sure this is a corporate issue but I think both enthusiasts and press have been clear from day one... - Give us a higher power variant, or some factory backed upgrade (as per Mountune with Ford say) I don't remember anyone really clamouring for versions with different paint jobs and stripes and not much else, however nice some of them are. Great car but under-developed. Mine is great now, but i needed a fair bit of aftermarket tweaking to achieve it. Would rather have given Toyota the £s in the first place. I've just swapped onto the Yokohamas. They'll still slip but more progressive and don't do it when you don't want to. Huge improvement. Mind you I suspect the same would be true of most half decent performance tyres. The Michelin Eco tyres are crap in every application... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  9. Brilliant! I kind of regret not going down that route myself. Lived with a couple of architecture students at university. Really interesting vocation, and they'll always be needed... I'd trade my '86 for an architecture qualification like a shot... [emoji41] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Like the TRD. But it's still a bit sheep in wolfs clothing if it's mechanically identical to the base model. It's a bit like all those company BMW 318ds with the M sport kit on... Oh, and the rear wheels are STILL the wrong bloody offset. Is it too much to ask to fill the arches? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    "New" Top Gear

Think they need less presenters. Matt can carry it. Chris is good, but not sure him AND Rory adds anything. Let's not forget the Clarkson line up didn't properly gel until they got May in. My vote would be Matt, Chris and A.N. Other. Sabine is terrific, but really she's not a presenter... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

You could certainly do worse. If you can, try them - but also worth looking at the Tein offerings too - not come across any negative reviews there either... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My logic is simply that I'm prone to fiddling. I'd rather have one setting that I 'learn' than lots. I hate cars with adjustable modes for the same reason. Don't give me 'sport' mode, just give me one setting that works well... This may be different if you're a track addict though. I can see the benefit there of being able to run stiffer - but to be honest I'd probably want stiffer springs too... The main area these win in for me is simply the deal you can get at the moment. Great quality for the £s. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

How often should the TC light come on?

Bet it'll be much better. But having had those Uniroyals on another car - dry grip is okay, but where they really shine is in the damp and wet. In many ways the ideal British road tyre. I bet you'll find it a big improvement. But bear in mind the car is supposed to slide. Was never designed for grip, although I like a little more myself and on 18x8s shod with better tyres it does. Still think you're comparing apples and pears with an Elise though... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

You're entitled to your opinion. But you're wrong of course [emoji12] Putting aside the initial D link, the black bottom half of the car slims it and makes front and rear bumpers look less heavy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yes, they're advertised as adjustable from -10 to -30. Can't say I've noticed the difference though. Have a look at the pic above. When we parked next to Richards Aero they looked identical ride height. Most others I saw were -20 at the highest setting so these are very conservative. But if you definitely don't want to lower - perhaps keep stock springs (which are fine I think) and look at B6s. I only went the B14 route because it was only marginally more expensive given current offers and I was curious... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Bilstein B14 coilovers - review

Well - that's where these ones score. If it's lowered, it isn't lowered much. I agree with you. On uk roads the last thing I wanted was less suspension travel... And if you REALLY don't want to lower the car at all, a set of Bilstein B6s would do the trick. Or possibly Konis? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

There's a B12 kit knocking about too with Eibach springs and matched Bilstein dampers - would have been happy with that, but there are very keen deals to be had on the B14s at the moment. I'd have a look at the Tein stuff as well though - an awful lot of happy people on here running various set ups... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
