I have to ask then...since UEL add a bit more mid-torque and remove a bit of the high end torque how do you feel that? The mid is very appreciated on the gt86/brz as I have figured out but is there a loss of high end that you can actually feel? do you even feel the mid torque boost? driving-wise do you feel a change after having installed UEL headers compared to the standard ones? It's losing the 1st cat and the remap that gets rid of the torque dip - there are plenty of dyno charts on here of both EL and UEL and they're not vastly different. So I doubt you'd tell the difference between EL and UEL on the road. But the difference between a stock car and a remapped primary cat-less car is night and day. Has the mid range poke that should have been there in the first place so you don't have to redline it every time to keep the engine in the power band when going up through the gears. I went for UEL but purely for sentimental reasons - I prefer the engine note. So don't agonise over it - either will be great. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I guess it partly comes down to seating position but I never had a blind spot in the BRZ, I was able to adjust the mirror so that as soon as the car left the mirror it was in my peripheral vision Me neither - I concluded that it's because I'm a short arse so am sat forward enough to get a good view over my shoulder. Possibly one for @riceburner... So my car is on slightly weird service is intervals. Did a lot of miles in first year so Bob had his first service at 10k miles and about 9 months. But I did less miles subsequently so his second service was 12 months later but the car had only done 16k by this time. So if diff oil needs changing at 20k do I need to book the car in separately to do this? (not due a service for ages). Of course I'm assuming they didn't drop out the diff oil at the second service anyway... Anyone know? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Reliability is one thing, but it is inevitably going to eat through consumables faster. I have another foot in the Saab camp which for much of its recent history basically ran the same engine, boosted or not boosted in various states of tune. The highest strung variants run up the same epic mileages as their n/a brethren but tend to wear through clutches etc as you'd expect and you get more gearbox issues. Interestingly 270bhp seems to be the sensible limit for reliable daily driving on those too. How you drive it is the biggest factor though. Some people just drive unsympathetically. Dumping all the torque through the transmission in lower gears as a matter of course and unleashing 270bhp through a cold engine is going to screw anything up. My last Saab was a 15 year old £1500 tweaked 9-5 with 120k miles, 270bhp and a string of fastidious owners. Gave me a year of 100% reliable commuting then sold it for what I paid for it. Purred like a kitten. FI holds no fear for me - just treat it nicely :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Exact same scenario I had (when my car was only a week old). Had it fixed through other drivers insurance (and a loan car) and at my repairer of choice (RRG) Also worth noting my wing was more creased than that and it got straightened fine so no need to cut out the panel. I have Team Dynamics 18x8s on my car. Look good, and whilst not as lightweight as high end wheels weigh barely more than the stock 17' wheels. I don't think they can be beat for bang per buck. They have enough race pedigree for me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Here's what you do - get TD manifold, k&n filter and tune, and an exhaust for the noise if you fancy... On my car that only gained somewhere in region of 15-20bhp, but you'd never know it to drive it. The extra mid range torque makes it much pokier. I still have the stock second cat too. Everyone else's manifold and tune achieves similar - it seems to be losing the cat wot does it. The beauty of the TD set up, is its part way to the turbo kit if you go for that later. And realistically FI is what you need eventually if you want unstressed 250bhp+ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yup. Primo dash is identical -mine has the digital speedo, and looks the same as Lauren's with the longer needles, so the Primo obviously wasn't quite the same as poverty spec elsewhere. I've haven't got the xenon lights, and have a key to start and manual aircon - but those are about it for differences... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Oh dear :-(. To make you feel better - many years ago I reversed my 4 day old Ford Puma into a Cornish cottage on our first road trip... so you are not alone... Also - my 86 got clouted on that corner (not my fault this time) and they fixed it all fine... Glad it didn't spoil the holiday though... Looks fantastic. They look great - because 'rally car' [emoji41] I quite like having them - especially with wider wheels fitted as the bottom of the bodywork does tuck under a fair bit and you will get crap up the leading edge of the doors. This thread is for sharing your experiences with all the various bits that make up the 86 exhaust system from engine to tailpipe. So manifolds, overpipes, centre pipes, primary cat backs, secondary cat backs, resonated, non resonated and very possibly lemon-scented. And the other possibilities I've forgotten. Was is good value, does it sound good, does it actually help power, does it get on your nerves on the motorway? And do you know if it'll get through an MOT? Share your shiny stainless pipes!
