Team Dynamics 18" Forged Alloys
Nicebiscuit replied to Qu1ckn1ck's topic in For Sale GT86 / BRZ Parts
Very good I'd imagine. I'd have had them myself if I hadn't bought a set shortly before they came up. Think this is a bit of a bargain for the size/weight. -
On that topic, anyone know what camber you end up with dropping the car on conventional lowering springs. I'd assume it makes little difference at the front, but would you end up with a little negative at the rear (all other things being equal?). Not sure how the geometry works at the back... So what's the trade off then? Presumably there must be 'some' additional tyre wear otherwise it'd surely come from the factory like that. Or is there something else? Everything is a compromise of some sort...

Bonnet lifting over d/s wheel arch
Nicebiscuit replied to Donfrondo's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
Yep - worried me too but it's normal. Can't do much for the aerodynamics though! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
The Toyota variants on 18x7.5 also run a conservative offset of 46. The problem comes on stock suspension if you go for a wide wheel with a lower offset it ends up looking like a monster truck because the wheels stick out too much without the camber to pull them in. Oh, yes agreed. Mine are only half an inch wider and a bit less offset, but still quite conservative so I think I'll probably get away with it... A trial fit at the weekend I think before I get some suspension bits ordered...
-
You say that - but I'm increasingly coming to the conclusion that my car is going to stay stock height, gaping wheel gaps and all even running 18x8s. There's little enough suspension travel on the road as it is... Not quite decided though... There's no doubt they look better a bit lower but the Toyota issue variants running 18x7.5 wheels still run stock springs...

You still have to watch the 86 on a greasy road, purely because the standard tyres are almost designed to let go... I've changed tyres on mine - much better. It's certainly no TVR though - both of you have much bigger cojones than me. Beautiful to look at and listen to, but terrifying! £1100 is a decent budget. I know Lauren spent more, but that's surely plenty for head amp and front speakers at least... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Oh - and if you REALLY want height adjustable passenger seat I wonder if you could fit an LHD drivers seat from a breaker? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

From the perspective of someone else who swapped a Saab for a GT86... I'm now a year in. The rear seat is usable - my wife just has the passenger seat a bit further forward. We actually also have a practical family box but the kids want to go in the 86 though. Be careful though - how long are you planning to keep it? She won't be able to grow much... Road noise isn't too bad in practice. I've been to the Alps and back in mine and it doesn't get worse at speed. Actually quite a competent long distance car. I use mine for work... The power delivery is possibly the weakest aspect. (I came from a chipped 2.3 Aero ;-) ) but the rest of the car makes up for it. The interior quality isn't really noticeable after a while and all the important touch points are 'right' I don't regret buying mine for a minute. I can't think of anything else as special feeling for anything like the money. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I doubt it. Mind you, who knows... Perhaps Richard is also doing a roaring trade in tints, under-sill LEDS and massive subwoofer boxes to Cheshire octogenarians... [emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So are you suggesting my flat metal plates are not BS AU 145d compliant? As I can't see what difference the embossing makes... If they aren't then practically every granny in Macc with a Yaris will be running illegal plates... [emoji1] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
-
Yep. Agree with the above. The 'reflective material' thing has to be a red herring, otherwise the stock plates I have, which as Lauren pointed out are aluminium too, would be illegal. The only difference between 'correctly' made embossed plates and mine would be that the letters are raised, and there is no legislation that prohibits that. Of course the bit above about risking inconvenience at the hands of some jobsworth is still possible, much like certain other mods - window tints spring to mind... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Oh - are they? Lol! Couldn't tell as you can't see the edges any more! I knew my originals were as they were creased in several places by idiots who couldn't park... [emoji1] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

For what it's worth, I was going to get some myself, but had a set of the acrylic ones with the frames instead that RRG are doing now. They looked good enough not to bother with the pressed ones. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I didn't think there was anything wrong with them. They have to conform to all the regs re reflectivity, markings, font etc and some do, some don't. But don't think there are any rules about material and whether characters are 'raised' Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

CSL style yes, but also a bit like the classic duck tails on early 911s. Really suits the shape and I like the integrated look. Would kind of miss the point but would also look good painted. That's the sort of perverse thing I'd do... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

For Sale: Sprintex Supercharged GT86 /w Five Axis kit

In all honesty - might be for the best. Never got on with my folks until I moved out and got a bit of space... Get on great these days. I'd rather a fifteen year old Corolla and my own place myself... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
The green gunk is supposed to be there - and you'll probably find some of it burns off over the first couple of hundred miles making a horrible smell. Don't panic like I did and call Riceburner thinking my wiring loom was melting or something... [emoji1] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

GT86 Turbo Kit & BRZ Turbo Kit from Tuning Developments
Nicebiscuit replied to Mike@TD.co.uk's topic in Tuning Developments
Fair point. I was thinking engineering wise... Wasn't the Scooby set up UEL because that's what fitted? But I do agree. That's why I'll go UEL for purely emotional reasons. It's a Subaru boxer and therefore there is a way it 'should' sound... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
