Yeah - but it's just unnecessary weight and complexity. It's not as if MX5 soft tops leak... That was one of the reasons they were so successful... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think it's a bit awkward looking compared to the soft top, and think the simplicity of the fabric hood suits the car better. Not sure what problem this is trying to solve. Personally if I didn't need the extra seats I'd buy an MX5 over the 86 now, for no other reason than it scratches the same itch and costs less. Same reason I wouldn't swap the 86 for a Cayman even if I had the £s. This is 'enough' Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Can beat that - in the Saab community there's a very well regarded remapper who's effectively a hobbyist and will do your car for little more than the cost of a tank of fuel... [emoji1]. I don't think there are many Saabs left in the UK he hasn't done... I kind of miss 280bhp and a wall of torque [emoji12] The other way of looking at the cost on the GT86 is whether it's a stepping stone. Eventually I would plan to go FI, so money invested in an Ecutek license and manifold now isn't wasted later even if it only nets marginal improvements now. I couldn't care less about bhp at 7000rpm. Just want something usable between 4 and 5k Plus - £600 in the grand scheme of things on a twenty grand car isn't so bad. Look what manufacturers charge for a better model that's essentially just chipped... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

God knows [emoji1]. But sort it out between you and I'll probably be able to come... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Put me down...

Right, well if it's 17th I can definitely do it. Might not get a pass for the whole day, but will definitely come along... I know decent breakfast place in Glossop... Or there's the cafe near the cat and fiddle... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That may well be me - but might be a bit of a wait whilst I save up. This year is supposed to be wheels and suspension... Put it this way, when you DO get hold of it, my car will be stock... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Sadly I suspect a driver of this calibre could still run rings around us all wearing ski boots... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think he'll probably sell one to THIS n/a customer even if it makes it go slower... [emoji2] Seriously though - it's not going to make a vast difference is it? The main benefit whether EL or UEL is removing the cat. Without that there are bound to be the usual small amount of horses to be released in combination with one of the nice maps we've seen recently on a couple of the forum cars. Didn't think of that. Makes sense. I'm still adjusting to the throttle actually doing something, after 10 years of turbos... Amazing he can get away with such extreme inputs in an NSX without it swapping ends though, but I guess being Ayrton Senna must help... [emoji1] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Love that Senna footage. The interesting thing is how he uses the throttle in the corners. Almost dances on it... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Never heard of them. But a good find - they look great [emoji41] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Welcome to come out for a ride at the TD open day. [emoji4] Yes please. [emoji106]

I can indeed, I taught myself a few years back and it's come in handy now. [emoji4] I'm trying, but bloody tricky. For some reason fourth to third is quite easy to be smooth, but third to second much harder to match the revs. Mess that up quite a bit... Doesn't really do any harm but makes you sound like a right pillock. Think I'll have to practise more before fitting a louder exhaust... [emoji41]

Glad there's a consensus on that! Thought it was just me... Really the only weakness of the car. That yawning torque dip makes it feel slower than it is. Far too easy to fall into the hole when overtaking unless you redline it every time. It doesn't feel like a 200bhp car pulling only 1200kg. My old 170bhp BMW diesel would smoke it if I'm honest, and it wouldn't see which way my Saab went... But one of TDs nice UEL manifolds and a remap will sort that - nice that we have a decent local specialist [emoji41].

My only experience (on a completely different car) was similar. Not vastly more powerful, just 'better'. Everywhere. To the extent that a standard car just felt a bit rubbish. I think that's the sign of a decent job. Not about chasing dyno figures...
-
What is notable on your car Lauren is that you haven't got such a hole in the torque as most graphs on stock cars (either before or after) so presumably that's your other mods at work... The combined effect seems to be that you have a useful power band from 4K up whereas mine really doesn't do much until nearly 5k. It's fine given the gear spacing but you do have to redline in every gear to keep the engine on the boil..

Official 86 / Brz 2017 update details
Nicebiscuit replied to Deacon's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
Well that's interesting. I think I prefer the BRZ bumper, but the styling of the panel around the audio unit is a right mess, and I dislike the digital dash. If they were going to do that, I'd rather lose the frankly pointless analogue speedo and keep the fuel and temp gauges. Overall looks a mess. The Toyota interior looks cleaner - note the much larger touchscreen on that... -
Kids do fit providing you're not too tall. Mine ask to go out in it. Boot surprisingly useful. Not that impractical really. Well not as much as everyone thinks anyway...

Well that's quite good isn't it? Rolls Royce Merlin, anyone? [emoji12]

Not that many cars look good in white. These do. [emoji41]

Did you see the F1/super bike thing with Guy Martin the other day. Quite an eye opener really - firstly in how close it was, and secondly in the obvious skill needed to get the most out of the bike... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
