Open Day Spring 2016 @ Tuning Developments 27/03
Nicebiscuit replied to Mike@TD.co.uk's topic in Tuning Developments
Haha well the arches do make it seem like its on steroids. I doubt it will upstage, there are some amazing builds on this forum. Anyway beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Why is your insurance being a pain? They're not being a pain as such - it's just that I stuck it on a standard policy when new without planning ahead. They won't countenance any mods at all, even if I pay, so got to wait til June. Bedroom is full of bloody wheels in cardboard boxes... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk- 235 replies

But it's why I'm following with interest, as the fogs make fairly pants DRLs so quite interested in idea of swapping out for LEDs... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Haha love it. Yeah I'll just stuff my face with BBQ whilst sitting in the corner crying. [emoji14] Although on a positive note you won't upstage absolutely everyone else there [emoji2] My poor little Primo on its winter wheels would look like its suffering from anorexia parked next to yours. (Can't put my new wheels on either - sodding insurance [emoji35]) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk- 235 replies

Official 86 / Brz 2017 update details
Nicebiscuit replied to Deacon's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
Wonder why they tweaked the steering? That's one bit that needed absolutely nothing, in my view. Feels like a decent hydraulic set up, which is quite something for an electric system. If they were looking for marginal improvements, I'd have started with the baulky gear change and slightly on/off throttle response... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Screens bigger by the looks of it. New wheel is quite nice. Still got the 80s style digital clock.... Bless -

They won't factory approve the Cosworth version. It will never happen. Cosworth have already tried. The Mountune kit on the Fiesta ST is just a mild upgrade to a car already with a turbo. The Cosworth SC is quite different in this respect, I would expect that's why. I doubt they will either as they'd have done it by now - but not sure I understand the logic. With Subaru in particular there were a whole series of quite extreme factory sanctioned tweaks over the years with the Impreza. Unless, of course Toyota have tested forced induction on FA20 units and found that the engines weren't up to it... You never know... :-/ -

I'm pretty sure that was their motivation in the first place... I read it somewhere too. And they had worked with Subaru previously... -

There is that. If they want to sell more it needs to be quicker. Vauxhall have just launched a cooking spec Astra for under twenty k that's a second faster to 60. I know that's not primarily what the '86 is about, but it'd be nice to keep up with Vauxhalls... [emoji1]. Actually I don't care if they do a factory option - just endorsing and warranting something like the Cosworth set up would do. Like Ford do with Mountune. The Cossie kit is not the cheapest, but if it didn't affect the warranty... TAKE MY MONEY [emoji3] -

That's just the lighting. The bonnets the same I think. Only the plastic panels have been changed... -

Do you think? I think the fronts better. More intake and less plastic, although the little milk teeth at the bottom are a little silly. Side vents also better and more BRZ like. Rear lights also good. Wheels are a wasted opportunity though. Barely look any different and still weak. -
How about a set of these instead? Reckon they'll squeeze under the arches... (ducks to avoid flying socket wrench) [emoji12]

So it's basically got Valenti rear lights then... Lol - they're going to be annoyed. Generally I like it - overall shape of the front is better but there are some fussy details. The wheels are still rubbish though. No idea why they don't offer a range of options there... They might as well get a few £s at purchase time rather than let the aftermarket boys coin in when nearly EVERYONE swaps them... :-D Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

MFactory Final Drive Kits in stock at Tuning Developments for GT86 and BRZ
Nicebiscuit replied to Mike@TD.co.uk's topic in Tuning Developments
Yup - used to long legged ratios on turboed cars where you can pretty much pick a gear and accelerate from 2500rpm up to the redline. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk- 101 replies

MFactory Final Drive Kits in stock at Tuning Developments for GT86 and BRZ
Nicebiscuit replied to Mike@TD.co.uk's topic in Tuning Developments
Area under the curve. Putting the gears closer together increases the average power output by the engine closer to max power. Ah yes - of course - it closes up the ratios not just shortens them... Makes sense. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk- 101 replies

Nicebiscuit replied to Mike@TD.co.uk's topic in Tuning Developments
So... For the sake of argument - why wouldn't a longer FD be better? Then 1st gear would effectively be a shorter second etc etc. It's rare first is needed for anything... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk- 101 replies
