Even at RRP these are pretty good value considering that they're UK manufactured. Plus they're properly drilled for Scooby fitment - no spigot rings here... Nice to not buy something made in China for a change... (Says he typing on an iPhone... :-/ ) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Of course I'll inevitably kerb the buggers within a fortnight...

I'll happily bump these again, as they are lovely. If funds allowed right now I'd have your arm off... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Probably next year before I do anything engine related as fiddling with wheels and suspension this year, but I have my eye on one of their manifolds and a remap to go with it... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ooooo :-) Brand new in box, never fitted to anything. £400. Couldn't pass that up really. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Just like the idea of using local businesses when I can... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Very interested in the results. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

There should be an extra double 'like' button for those. They'll look great.

Glad you're happy with the remap. I've not had the experience with the 86 but had a Stage 1 map on a different car by one of the acknowledged marque experts and was exactly as you described - just 'better' everywhere. Has it made a different story to the throttle? As stock it's a bit 'on/off' especially in traffic, and I'd heard some of the remappers improve that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Absolutely. It's a mistake and that's fine. But don't forget you're paying top dollar labour rates as part of that service. That's the bit where I'd expect to see a bit of 'goodwill' if they are serious about customer service. The argument always runs that for that high £ per hour you're getting the benefit of highly qualified and trained staff... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Keethos' GT86 Journey Back To Health + Mods

Swap the centre caps too... The red looks wrong (and if you think of something really cool I'll have some for my JR3s. [emoji1]) -

Good job. Who did your vinyl? -
Well... I've got me some summer wheels... Nothing that exciting but tick the boxes for me - a little bigger, a little wider, a little less blingy and even a tad lighter than the stock 17x7s. Most importantly at a price far too good to pass up. Team Dynamics Pro 1.2s in 18x8 - Gloss black. They'll still have to sit in the shed until the insurance runs out though...

Money. Don't see why you should pay the premium prices for a main dealer service if they do that. I'd be expecting a refund of a substantial proportion of the cost of the service for the inconvenience.

Odd marketing from Steven Eagell

It's an eternal mystery to me why manufacturers don't police their dealerships better. I can't think of any car brand I wouldn't buy again because the CAR was crap, but there's a few I wouldn't buy because the dealer was... Luckily there are enough decent dealers and specialists around that I haven't yet run out! [emoji3] -
Yeah, me too. Am impressed by the JR3s I bought... Interested in weights too when you get some in. JR3 was nice and light for a cast wheel. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That post was firmly tongue in cheek... I forgot the smiley ;-) No, I always wanted one myself - and actually bought 'right' now they are proper bargains, as the general public are scared off. Values now mean you can put away a bit of money for engine woes anyway... Anyhow you're talking to someone with one of those awful unreliable French cars. 80k miles so far with nothing but diesel and oil changes. But the reputation is just great for me - meant it cost me half what a VW would have... [emoji41] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Probably best to own them in pairs. That way on of them will have a functioning engine...

Hence why I think the fastest wheel/tyre/suspension combo for road use may well be close to a Paris-Dakar set up. [emoji41]
-
Well... You don't mess around... [emoji41] Very subtle though. For all those mods it's not overdone. Could be OEM. I like it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Anyone doing this I instantly rule out I'm afraid. It's basically dishonest as there's no 'extra' discount involved. If that's how they operate their business I choose not to deal. In my experience a decent dealer is quite prepared to talk straight about the value of your car, and what sort of a deal they can offer on a new one. I appreciate that kind of salesman, because let's face it - it's 2016, I have google, I know exactly what my px is worth and what sort of discount I can reasonably expect. A salesman who acknowledges that, respects it, and then offers me his best deal straight is likely to make the sale. Even if not the cheapest... Treat me like an idiot and they can sod off. Incidentally the previously excellent local BMW dealer changed hands recently and this kind of marketing crap has started... Another one off my list... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
On personal experience no. They are really good - and the wear rate offsets some of that cost (I wasn't paying!) but it's marginal, certainly compared to the difference between tyres in that £70-80 range and budget options beneath that which can be truly horrible! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm with Lotus on this... Lighter always better (if you can afford it!). With suspension changes you'd get the ride back too... Most of what we like about classic cars is simply that EVERYTHING weighs less. My old eighties Saab 900, considered a big solid lump in its day, much to my surprise, weighs less than the 86 - and drove like it... More like a big Mini that a modern family saloon. What does your AE86 weigh Lauren? Probably about two bags of sugar... [emoji12] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ah - ok. Might make sense. Interesting, that. Which I guess would be offset if you were going up a size or two as part of the wheel swap... Anecdotally - I had noticed mine wheel spins at the drop of a hat now from rest although lateral grip remains as good as ever so there may be something in that... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Heavy wheels give QUICKER 0-60? Why is that then? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Don't know really as they always have gone on after the winters come off, after which ANYTHING would be an improvement! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
