Bloody hell, that's going to be quick... [emoji41]

The rear lights are brilliant. That's what I want to do too - nice to see it looks good in reality. I'm waiting for a reasonably priced s/h set to come up, and then I'll be after tips! The rest of the car looks great too. Very clean.

I hate the Primacies, so the way I look at it you're half way to having the right tyres ;-)
-
I think they did the second gear thing on purpose... After all everybody knows that you have to shift from first to third in classic Ferraris until the oil warms. I think that's what they were going for... [emoji41]
-
That is interesting... Keep us posted. Now back OT - sorry Gringo... :-D
-
Possibly so. I have no issue doing that, other than I don't really want to make a racket or have boy-racer tailpipes you can fit your arm in. The real stealth answer is to leave the whole system intact and bolt a decent s/c on - that dyno trace on the other thread of s/c on stock exhaust was impressive - but the slight issue of £s and warranty prevent that at the moment.

Would you buy an ex publicity car?
Nicebiscuit replied to chris.tarry85's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
Surely it just comes down to whether it's the right price. I certainly would want it to be cheaper... And frankly you don't know where ANY second hand 86 has been. They're generally not bought to go shopping in! One reason I bought a new one in the end. That way I know it's been abused, but only by me [emoji41] -
Superchargers and fuel consumption, any views?

Surely JP in Macc could build you something to mate to Mike's kit? I believe Mike's familiar with their work... :-) And I will come and have a proper look at the Turbo kit - it looked top notch engineering when I saw it at your open day, that's for certain. -
Interesting - as I was mulling the opposite (but more expensive) approach: aftermarket decat manifold, but keep the second cat and everything behind it. Key for me isn't so much peak power or even torque, but smoothing out the torque dip which gets on my nerves. I'm happy to remap mind to achieve that. That'd do me until the point (much further into the warranty) that I consider mild FI.
-
Not bad for £8860... ;-)
-
So, you're running standard manifold and primary cat then?
-
I would still quite like a Cayman. Not twice as much as I'd like an 86 though... :-D

I guess that's about what I'd expect. I'd imagine the turboed cars have an advantage here then, as driven gently a turbocharged car is effectively n/a at light throttle (hence the current crop of small capacity turboed engines which 'can' post impressive official mpg and co2 numbers) Can't help feeling though that a supercharger would suit the natural character of the car more though. -
This isn't going to help, but that Celica is lovely. [emoji41] You'll get used to the clutch. In fact I don't think it's the clutch so much as the throttle which is a bit on/off - quite hard to drive smoothly at low speed. But it gets easier with familiarity. I love mine. Also red. [emoji3]

How on earth did you get 27mpg [emoji23]. I struggle to do worse than mid thirties... Not that I don't go quickly when I can, it's just that on average i'm usually in traffic so can't do much but cruise... And yes - I'll be interested... eventually! But fi will be the longest term change... Lots of other stuff ahead in the queue. I just like to have a roadmap... [emoji41] -
Liking the spoiler. If you're going to put a wing on it then put a WING on it... :-D. It's like something from an early seventies F1 car. Superb. [emoji41]

Ah makes sense... Someone should still be cheeky and offer him £15671 though ;-) Can't be many '62 plates with lower mileage...
-
It's a very specific price... I'm curious about how he arrived at the £72 bit. :-D
-
It'll look good when done - but that really is a bit poor. Have they ever actually seen a GT86, or did they just guess what shape it was? :-/ So what are the fat wheels going to be? :-D

installed a new head unit and indicators stopped working!
Nicebiscuit replied to Neil_turbo's topic in ICE/Electrical
It's not an Audi head unit is it? ;-) -
I entirely agree. I may change my mind, but I bought this car to keep. It's simple enough to potentially be on the road still when it's as old as your AE86. This was always an opportunity to buy a brand new classic. Anyway, Seems a bit of a waste buying a Japanese car and then chopping in at 3yrs/80k miles. Might as well have something French or Italian if you're going to do that! I'm hoping mine will still be going in 20 years like those battered Toyota Carina minicabs that have been round the clock three times. I might even invest in one of those beaded seat covers... ;-)

They generally prefer you NOT to pay off the balance, so they certainly have a good go getting you not to... They'd much rather swap you into a brand new one! The only time I ever took out a PCP I had a hell of a time convincing the call centre of that... No... I really do want to pay off the balance as its only 3 years old and I still quite like it...
-
What I always say to my 10 year old, is 'if you still want it in a week, then I'll let you spend your pocket money...' And they are the best looking of the modern looking wheels in my opinion. They look stock. In a good way.

Do it like this. The literal approach...
