They normally write to you first though...
-
I like it as is.
-
Hurrah! Always nice when you finish paying for something BEFORE you're tired of it...
-
Oh dear... So you can. Right. Shortlist #3
-
Nice though they are I think that anything much wider than stock on an n/a car will be too much. Of course with a supercharger bolted on that's a whole different story. But that's for later. A lot later...
-
57getters? Yes - I love them too, but not wanting anything that big. 17x8 or 18x8 is the biggest I'm going
-
Yeah I know what you mean - nice and light as well - but there's something very appealingly retro about those other ones... Shades of eighties Porsche Carrera on Fuchs...

And shortlist #2

Wheels Magazine Car of The Year 2016 Mazda MX-5
Nicebiscuit replied to Herbie86's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
One thing I've noticed is that it's VERY quick to lock a wheel under braking. I've never had a car before that troubles the ABS in normal quickish road driving. Don't really mind - you get used to it, but all that slithering round probably does little to help tyre wear. Interested to see what it's like when I get the Yokohamas on... -
Mind you won't quite look that sharp as I'd be going for 17x7.5 not the 18x8s in the above shot... They don't do those in 17x8 sadly... So like this...

Wheel shortlist #1.

I don't know which lights to choose!
Nicebiscuit replied to Maxwellphillips's topic in Modifications
Having the same dilemma. I don't like the standard lights. Of the available choices I'd say the Toms are the best at present. Still considering dremelling a standard set though. The standard design is fine, it's just that all the silvery bits need to be black. -
They're that smooth I think he just drew them in with a big set of protractors ;-)
-
That is impressive. Look at all that torque with no holes in it!
-
If it were on the way you'd be missing the point... :-)
-
Yes - and loads of variety. The cat and fiddle I've known for years but still learning the A54 bit... For a while I've wondered why they don't close off the cat and fiddle to race on, if you use the road down the bottom of the valley you could make a decent loop. Like a mini Isle of Man TT

Keethos' GT86 Journey Back To Health + Mods
Nicebiscuit replied to Keethos's topic in Projects & Builds
I still really like that bonnet... -
Hmm. So New Years resolutions... Well, the 'not spend any money on the car' one is already looking shaky... Definitely for 2016 we're going to need some decent summer rubber. So a set of Yokohamas all round I think. But on what? Well... Undecided as yet but they're going to be 17 or 18s, a bit wider than standard (but not stupidly) and look reasonably subtle but fill the arches. Don't have to be mega lightweight but I draw a line at anything heavier than stock. Oh and will have to look ok at standard ride height. So far candidates include a couple of Enkeis, 3sdms, or possibly a set of s/h Works if anything comes up. I will think a fair while though as they can't go on until the insurance is up... Secondly, something is going to have to be done about the flat spot around 4000rpm. So maybe... Just maybe this year we'll be looking at manifold and remap. But, key decisions to be made there as might as well go down a route that would allow fi later on, as that will happen... I like this car a lot. It's a keeper.
-
What a shame... :-(
-
You know, that's almost subtle... I like that.
-
Result! I was probably right then - the duff battery alone wouldn't have stranded you mid flight (although it probably would have done later...). What a weird coincidence....
-
Batteries are weird things - they can fail suddenly. Mind you - always used to be the case that a car would run with a completely dead battery once you got it going as the alternator could supply enough. I guess modern cars are too complex for that to work...
-
Could be worse... Paid over £450 for a pretty routine 40k service on a Skoda Fabia once. I wouldn't have minded but it was the one running the old Eastern bloc pushrod unit dating back to the Estelle. The Service schedule probably consisted of pouring a bit of oil over the block and whacking it with a lump hammer... (And yes - I'd keep it myself - it's barely run in at 80k miles surely...)
-
That's really nice. They suit it. Plenty of people put JDM wheels on Golfs so.... :-D
-
You'd be surprised... It soon adds up. Plus it doesn't have to come to the value of the car as the insurers can flog the salvage also (which is how this car is up for sale)
