  1. Was following you earlier near the airport... You won't have spotted me as I wasn't in Bob. In the family van.
  2. Well... To be truthful, it's a pub/diner called 'The Airport'. Right at the end of the runway - you can have your food whilst 747s thunder in over your head. The kids love it.
  3. We'd been to the Airport for lunch. (Really). Food tastes better with the smell of jet fumes...

    Which Xmas mod present

Less bad than it was... But still - we're around that mark. Mind you don't pay much less on the Berlingo, and that barely registers on the insurance rating scale...

    NA ECU tuning

You can easily drive around it, that's for sure. The gear ratios will keep you neatly above it. But I don't want to be screaming around all the time - would be nice to have a bit more flexibility for - say - overtaking on the road. More to the point I'm just curious why it's there. Driven plenty of cars with vtec type stepped power delivery, but this ones quite unusual in being reasonably torquey low down, revvy at the top, but a bit flat in the middle.

    NA ECU tuning

Now that's interesting. Good to see exactly the difference a set of mods make. As you say, good gains right the way through. Still a noticeable torque dip though. Is it possible to get rid of that without going forced induction?

    Exhaust before lights I'd say.

    Seen my first GT86 today

I'll claim to own it if you like (I don't) You're lucky to live in a GT86 void. There's another red one that drives past my front door every morning which kind of ruins my sense of exclusivity. Mind you, all the local primary school kids still think I've got a Ferrari...

    Toyota Retrofit DAB

I was told it didn't really integrate. Hence why I didn't bother. As for an aerial a magnetic mount mast aerial (usually best for reception) works great mounted upside down in the boot (really)

    Toyota Retrofit DAB

I was advised that it wasn't worth the cash. Spent £65 at Halfords instead. Alternatively decent aftermarket dab head units aren't that expensive. There's another thread in the ice sub forum about what I got. I just tuck it in the centre console box...

I knew the story but hadn't seen the footage. Erk! :-/

    Cheap option to add DAB

Yeah - I may go down that path myself eventually - but it's a slippery slope when I start messing with audio. I'd probably want nav as well, and then if I were upgrading the head unit It'd be a waste not to think about upgrading speakers, amps, a sub. So there's probably a few £s spend in my future, so I thought I could stave it off for a bit with £65 now... [emoji1] Still can't believe that mounting a mast aerial upside down in the boot works... Keethos' GT86 Journey Back To Health + Mods

Ha - was admiring those the other day... Chris has got a set of those waiting for me too to pick up, in slightly more modest winter size and gunmetal... Glad I went for them.

    GT86/BRZ forum split

I ruled out an Sti many years back after driving a friends example (one of the fancier imported variants with a lot of extra letters in the badge). After about 5 mins behind the wheel I confidently negotiated a roundabout at the best part of 80mph... I concluded that although it was a fabulous machine, so capable it was at going far too fast, I might as well set fire to my driving licence. The anti-gt86 in many ways...

    GT86/BRZ forum split

I quite like the hybrid character. I like both the ae86 and always had a soft spot for subarus as well. The original Impreza WRX was a proper giant killer, and quite subtle in original form. And both with proper motorsports pedigree of course. This car shares the heritage of both. So it's worthy of either badge. Although no ones mentioned the Subaru metallic blue yet which is as good a reason as any to go for a BRZ... My only mild disappointment is that it doesn't go wub wub wub like a proper Subaru boxer though I understand the sensible engineering reasons for that.

Time for a good old moan

Just f*ckwits of any variety. I've had one of those days at work... [emoji17] Some people just shouldn't be allowed oxygen...

The boxer engine is quite key to the concept though don't you think?

    GT86/BRZ forum split

I live a mile from RRG. And nowhere near a Subaru dealer. That's it really. Otherwise I'd have probably rather had the Subaru badge what with the boxer and everything. Mind you it looks more like a Toyota to my eyes...
  19. Fantastic [emoji1]Nothing in that yard was going to be anything other than nuts. Needs steel wheels, plastic wheel trims and a tartan rug on the parcel shelf though I reckon... ;-)
  20. I missed the NSX I think (unless I'm being really unobservant) My favourite non 86 though had to be the granny-spec Corolla hatchback which I suspect wasn't entirely stock under the bonnet... Forgot to ask Mike what was going on under there...

Enjoyed that. Nice crowd. Learned a few new things too... - Tango-ing a black BRZ really works. - I like 57Getters even more than I thought I did - Buddyclub rear lights look more subtle in real life than they do in photos. - Celicas can be made to look terrifying even standing still. - No matter what I do to my car it won't sound as nice as that AE86. And a King Charles spaniel is good for at least another 5 bhp. Thanks for hosting...

What wheels is that on? They suit it...
  24. Interested in opinions. Just come home on typical greasy wet Autumn roads and was getting a little more sideways than I would expect. All good clean fun but on standard rubber the grip does seem a bit 'all or nothing' in the wet. Anyone else have a view. I guess I'm not that fussed about ultimate grip levels but I quite like a tyre which telegraphs the limits of grip a bit better. Perhaps I need something else for road use...
