It's an interesting question - I can't really see the demand as the GT86 is all about handling - so it'd be an awful lot of money to spend on a new car to then immediately ruin it. But then again, people do odd things. Give it a few years and people will be slapping dodgy Ferrari replica kits on these I reckon! You're probably asking the wrong forum though - people here seem to want to make their cars better...

Standard Michelins a bit unprogressive in the wet?
Nicebiscuit replied to Nicebiscuit's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
In my experience on other cars those Michelins last forever. But they would, wouldn't they I suppose if they're not actually gripping anything! -
...anyone else just a LITTLE. bit cheesed off that their 86 can't actually fly?

Coincidentally I have v105s on the Berlingo that replaced the stock Michelins THAT came on. They're better. That said, that car never got very sideways... [emoji6] -

I think I may go for some of those. Bet the Michelins are fun somewhere there's plenty of run off though... -

I fear the Turbo. Mainly for what it might do to my bank balance... -
I'm going to stare at the light I think... :-D

Any recommendations for aftermarket wheel suppliers?
Nicebiscuit replied to Nicebiscuit's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
Yes - I've come to that conclusion... Getting me some jr3s in gunmetal. Should look ok :-) -

About to get me some wheels to fit my winter tyres to. Does anyone have any suppliers they'd recommend or avoid? -

Good call - and fairly local too. I've pm-ed Chris and he's going to rummage though his stock and find me something to suit... Thanks everyone. -

Lol! I wish :-D Actually going completely in the other direction - want some 16x7s to fit a set of correctly sized winter rubber I happen to already have. May look for something to fill the arches next spring if the piggy bank is looking fuller by then though... -

Cheers all. Just winter wheels but still want something I like as they'll be on the car half the year. -
Nah.... A bit too understated for me... ;-)

It just rode better I think - but I believe those 18's are actually lighter than the stock 17s so it would, wouldn't it? Lightweight 17s would probably be better again... Less unsprung weight is always good isn't it? Interesting point about why people go for 17s on track. I know next to NOTHING about the subject but recall BTCC cars running fairly large diameter rims? -
Yeah I noticed that. Did no one point out that it's cheating if the front and rear passengers actually have to be conjoined twins? I await seeing one in the metal with interest. Whilst I will argue to the death that the 86 is a viable four seater (just) I can't see how you could get away with less room...

Much more fun than a GTI that's for sure. Not quite as refined or as solid day to day but perfectly livable and more than made up for by the fun factor. I'd never had a Japanese car before either. Haven't regretted it. :-)

I thought Riceburners Aero on 18' OZs - if anything - drove better than the stock 17s. Wouldn't fancy 19s though... -
He can do my whole car... Alcantara body panels... Mmmmm. ;-)

I've decided I do like it. Because it looks unashamedly Japanese. And that's cool. A sports car doesn't have to be aggressive, and doesn't even have to be pretty. But it should have character, and this does. I'd have one.
