And as members of the GT86 'drivers' club - if anyone is doing that anyway they should be taken outside, shot, and then given the keys to a Yaris (and not that trick sprint one on the other thread either). ;-)

Ok. Sounds like I'm doing it right then... :-D. It's certainly been treated enthusiastically in the lower gears up to my self imposed rev limit (I've even made the little idiot light come on at 3800 :-D) Frankly it's too much fun to drive it like a Nissan Micra...
-
Arggghhh. Now I have a dilemma. I'm not babying it - am driving enthusiastically and avoiding sitting on a constant throttle but I am generally observing the Rev limit. I wonder why they do say it? Must be some reason otherwise why bother...
-
Thanks for the offer but having bought the car I am skint for the foreseeable :-D. Mods will be a longer term thing...

Funnily enough, I'm quite happy with the torque - I think my expectations were SO lowered my the press I was expecting it to be like a lawnmower or something below 4000rpm (which is all I'm allowed for another 750 miles....grrr). It's actually as torquey as you'd expect a n/a 2.0 litre to be. Ok, nothing special by modern turboed standards, but perfectly in keeping with the old-school feel of the car, and not slow...
-
Oh yes - I like that....

Does anyone do a smaller boot lip?
-
I like the ducktail.

Same problem... A number of slightly half hearted dealers who can't be bothered to read up the proper requirements. Yet at the same time want to charge eye watering 'Abarth' service charges, for what is basically a Fiat Punto engine in a Fiat 500 shell... Like with this car there are good 'uns though. We used Bauer Millett in Manchester in the end... Hope it works out for her. Very characterful car, but my gearbox was crunchy at 12k miles, oh and it wanted to kill me...

Think this is bad, try working out how to get an Abarth serviced...
-
I agree with your sentiment - but reckon the car could take a little more power with the standard running gear, don't you think?

White GT (new to me - from forum member) Cambridgeshire
Nicebiscuit replied to Andy Mac's topic in Newbies
That's a lovely example. Not that many cars look good in white. These do. Hope you enjoy it. [emoji106] -
Having had the pleasure of a GT86 now for a few days, I'd have to say I'd probably prefer supercharging to turbocharging on this. The stock throttle response is terrific and would be a shame to blunt it. Not that I feel I NEED extra power but upper two hundreds would be nice if the standard response and driveability could be maintained. It's always been the 911 Carrera I coveted, not the 911 Turbo...

Sculptural Bob. I think it'll polish out...

So.... We all went over the hills to Yorkshire Sculpture Park for Father's Day lunch and to look at the Henry Moore exhibition. Very fun drive over but I REALLY WANT TO USE THE OTHER 3500rpm!!! Anyhow. My 8 year old daughter thought it was funny that they could cop out and call a sculpture 'Sculptural Object'. This rapidly became 'Sculptural Bobject' and then 'Sculptural Bob' or 'Bob' for short. Thus the car has its name... This is fairly normal for us... Our other cars are Soupy Dave and Stripy Morten.

I'm crap with names even after I've worked at the next desk to someone for the last three months... [emoji17]

I quite like it, although I think a really subtle boot lip would look good too.

Since you insist.... [emoji41] Poverty spec rump, air con and headlamps. And what it looked like when the RRG guys had finished with it...

I've been called worse... [emoji1].

I'm Joe, not Rob - did Lauren start that? Either way I can be Rob if you like... [emoji41]. Was nice to meet you. [emoji1]

Yep. Seems to be fully equipped with the bits that let you go round corners with a big silly grin on your face. [emoji41]

I think others have got them. Not sure if OEM or aftermarket though... You can't have mine though [emoji6]

Was nice to get the welcoming committee this morning too. Club postcard in glovebox before I got there... [emoji106] Right, off for another drive. Hope those of you in Suffolk have a good time...
