Always been a fan. A nice chap, and an amazing achievement to become world champion in both cars and bikes. Doubt we'll ever see anyone do that again... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Oh - I love that one too... :-D Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Brilliant! And presumably those new brakes meant you could stop when you got there... ;-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Dammit. Jealous now [emoji35] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Polo Gti would still be cheaper though, no? It'll be a bit of a hard sell without any heritage to speak of - but if they only want to shift a thousand that'll be no bother... Most tempting hot hatch for me at present is the BMW 140i. Proper wheel drive, proper engine, proper bargain. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Haven't done much else to the car really. I've nearly got it how I want it - though some more black bits may feature in future and possibly a fruitier exhaust. It got a well deserved service today at RRG. Nothing to report really - absolutely nothing has gone wrong/broken/fallen off so there was nothing for @riceburner et al to do besides the routine stuff. Well actually it was utterly filthy but they appear to have fixed that under warranty ;-). Cheers guys... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Oh hello - sorry I missed this... I'm really liking the Bilsteins. Haven't touched them as I don't particularly want the car low... Can't really remember what the car was like before now. I think it is a bit firmer around town - but the way they handle bumps at speed is superb. :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Got a poke around the RRG demonstrator this morning... I'm not a change my car every couple of years kind of person, but anyone who is will find enough improvements to be glad of the swap. The interior is the big thing. Really much much better in terms of perceived quality. As for the rest, the wheels look better than the old ones when you see them in the metal, the back end is tidied up a treat, and the front is probably marginally better too in real life. The bumper is fine, and the headlights are neater. A successful facelift. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Just idly thinking... but given the popularity of super/turbocharging our cars for more poke, but given that this is 2017 I'm wondering if it's technically feasible to fit some sort of aftermarket hybrid setup to an 86? A lot of high end sports cars now are using electric power to boost performance. An interesting thought... don't know if anyone's tried it with similar vehicles Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

One for @riceburner and his colleagues... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think it was the AE82 I was thinking of - at least it got the lovely twin-cam... I remember thinking how cool it was that Toyota could sell you the same engine in FWD, RWD and even mid engined configurations at that time. I think I had a brochure with all of them in! I can't think of another manufacturer doing that... As for the Golf - Mk1 and 2 are rightly legends, but the Mk3 needs a decent burial, and the Mk4 was lovely if you wanted a baby Mercedes, but it was no hot hatch... I always fancied a Corrado though... As for the 205. Pretty, but all the structural integrity of a crisp packet! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Gloss black is much better. I have a set of both. The matt black ones don't really work, but the gloss ones look superb when clean as they catch the light. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Bugger. I didn't get the volcano insurance... perhaps I should have done? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So can anyone who's tried both the PS4s and the v105s comment on how the Michelins are better than the Yokos? I'm prepared to believe it, but I'm so happy with the Yokohamas I can't really see I'd want more wet or dry grip, or indeed progression which is just right. Albeit I'm running slightly wider tyres than stock on 18x8s so I have higher grip than normal... I have found on certain cars that Michelin are good at balancing grip and wear rate - so they do sometimes pay for themselves that way, but I guess to early to tell for the PS4s Comparison with the Primacies seems a bit futile as my Kumho snow tyres on 16x7 wheels are better than those ;-/ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Nice - a special edition worthy of the name. I wouldn't do much cosmetically if I were you as these Look fantastic out of the box. I said I wouldn't mod mine either but I have coilovers, wheels, manifold and remap and all were well worth the cash - the car drives better than stock... But you have nice wheels already so that's covered... [emoji41] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Gutted that I'm away this weekend when you're all right on my doorstep... Have a great time. :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So why a supercharger then? Thought they'd rather fallen out of favour since Mercedes stuck them on everything a few years back? Is it a packaging thing or some other reason? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

And it's a proper one - most junior hot hatches just have the electronic virtual ones... As for handling, the eighties hot corollas and the fwd Celicas have been okay have they not? Still - if they can beat the Fiesta I'll be impressed. That's an absolute hoot to drive, albeit pretty awful in every other respect. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I don't doubt it... was more a thought experiment... it's going to be a long time til this sort of thing can compete with five grand bolt on FI kits. But still I wonder why it's still the preserve of the £100k plus cars like you say... The daft thing being that they don't really need it - fuel economy or car tax is hardly an issue if you have a Ferrari... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Great stuff. Toyota aren't just about RWD sports cars - the FWD cars were pretty good back in the day too. As someone who VERY nearly bought a Fiesta ST instead of the GT86 this is an interesting development... Plus it means the Riceburner and his colleagues finally have something else to sell to the under-sixties [emoji1] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Wasn't too bad... Nice to see a proper car go round the track (well... sort of). Right colour as well. Shows how good the stability control is - appears to be able to rescue nearly anything [emoji122] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Not sure I like the shiny black plastic around the radio. The new wheel and instruments are an improvement though... I wish they'd drop the analogue speedo though. Positioned as it is its pointless - I don't think I've looked at mine once in 18 months of ownership... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'd be amazed if the structure behind has changed. I suspect it's only the trim panel with a different cutout... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Fair point. I suppose it'd be easy enough to at least keep the extra weight low... I wonder what battery capacity you'd need? Probably wouldn't work in a track scenario but on the road you're rarely using the full 200bhp as it is, so a mild boost would go further... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
