GT86 Turbo Kit & BRZ Turbo Kit from Tuning Developments

So how do you get it through MOTs? Whip the cat back on for the test? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I don't blame the dealer - but I think Toyota could be more accommodating. Let's face it it's a gamble to pay for extensive rebuild work at main dealer rates on the offchance Toyota might cough up. If the car were out of warranty you'd take it somewhere cheaper... It puts all the risk on the owner, not to mention trusting Toyota to be unbiased in their diagnosis. I think I'd be calling Toyota to find out on what grounds. Is it the mods that are the issue? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Get out. Now. I can't help it - I'm just perverse like that... [emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Mine certainly uses oil - not excessively - but needs keeping an eye on. It's not encouraging - but we've got the warranty I suppose! I don't recall any other car I've had developing a tendency for the engine to go pop within three or four years :-( If anything I bet these cars get maintained pretty religiously on average - enthusiasts check oil etc... You're average company BMW rarely gets it's bonnet lifted between services... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm a bit of a convert to the hybrid power train. Driven it quite a bit in the Auris and Lexus CT200. Hated the Lexus because it's such a mess as a design - but the Auris I liked a lot. My dad just bought a hybrid Auris tourer and he likes it a lot. Obviously a totally different proposition to the 86 but the C-HR isn't a sports car, and the hybrid is a wonderfully relaxed and smooth way to motor. Comes into its own in town or stop-start traffic rather than on a run. Seemed to do 50mpg no matter what the traffic conditions. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
It's 0w-20 and I wondered about that too. Pretty thin that at high temperatures... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That's not great. Would be good to know why. Not least as mines similarly modded. But we're hardly pushing the boundaries are we? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Well they haven't yet - it's still in the showroom - give them a chance... [emoji41] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

From Wikipedia... "Toyota 86 in Asia, South Africa, North America (from August 2016), South America and Australia;[1] GT86 in Europe; both of the preceding names in New Zealand; FT86 in Nicaragua and Jamaica;". ...and Thailand apparently... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Only saw one from a distance... I'll have another look then. I did like the current Prius in the metal. It's unusual and interesting in a way Citroens used to be... Even the GT86 is better in real life then in photos - can look blander in print. Anyhow - who cares if I think it's pig ugly - beauty in eye of beholder and all that. I have a crush on the Citroen C4 Cactus and the BMW i3 so I'm no one to talk... It's certainly not boring - that's for sure. If it appeals to you you should go for it [emoji41] (Not helping am i?) Okay ;-D. But that kind of aligns with my point - the same things you quote above as differences are arguably the things that make the GT86 better to drive than a comparably powerful and practical hot hatch. They also make it heavier... So weight isn't the be all and end all... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It's getting good reviews - http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/lexus/lc/first-drives/2017-lexus-lc-500-sport-review I rather like it. It's pretty. It does strike me as very much the GT86's grown up sibling, and if I were in the market it's more interesting than the usual options... Good for Toyota. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ok then - a Ford Fiesta ST. 4 proper seats - not engineered to be lightweight at all - approx 1150kg... Anyhow - it's not that I'm concerned particularly. My point was that as far as affordable sporty cars go, the GT86 is no featherweight, but it's still considered one of the best to drive. So with the Lexus - on paper it's a barge - in real life the reviewers seem to think it works well. Probably best thought of as an AMG Merc rival. Various Merc SLs have come and gone and they've always been lardy for their time yet considered great GTs... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

GT86 isn't exactly lightweight either. I'm quite surprised how heavy it is when you see how small it is next to other cars, plus the nature of the trim soundproofing panels etc. Something somewhere must weigh a lot... MX5 nearly 200kg lighter. Why? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

All sounds good. It is a good setup here - your efforts are appreciated [emoji41] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Not sure what you all see in it. Messy and confused lines and not enough glass. Looks heavy. Agree it looks like a Honda but they've increasingly gone to pot too... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
A bit late to this one... it's like my car's big brother! Sounds epic. What's the rest of your exhaust system? I'm running the TD UEL manifold but the rest stock from second cat back. Sounds nice but not as nice as yours [emoji41] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My first car was a 1966 VW. RWD and the engine in the back AND crossplies AND unservoed drum brakes. It's a wonder I'm still here... :-/ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I never understood why all the kids drove pimped Corsas. They're bloody awful to drive, especially with the crappy 1.0 or 1.2 engines that sound like they're about to expire if you venture above 4K rpm. I like little cheap cars - but there's so much else to go at - Fiesta, Clio, Punto all better for starters... The only thing worse than a Corsa is a Peugeot 207, but for some reason only girls seemed to drive them? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
