Exhaust wrap is banned in lots of forms of motorsport, if you have an oil or fuel leak it can soak/accumulate in the wrap which is a much bigger fire hazard than the drip drip of the leak burning off or running off the manifold/exhaust. In this day and age then non-porous heat shielding or ceramic coating are the only way to go in my opinion.

I'm trying to source a spare wheel myself at the moment, if a few people are interested in the mod then I can get a bit of a group buy going on, it will bring the cost of the machined parts down considerably, 1offs are always expensive!
-
Both long legged and short armed (6ft tall but 35" inside leg!) plus my preferred driving position is with the wheel nice and close.
-
Jealous of you both, not going this year as I'm too busy at work. Have a great time, it should be another great race!

I had hideous judder until the remnants of Streetmaster pads were cleaned off my front discs, flipping awesome once they were probably bedded in though as you know :-)
-
That is a bit nasty looking. Having seen that pic I'd probably go for machining out all of the existing protruding boss and making a new extended one that bolts in.
-
I'm thinking about 50mm extension, I'm not a fan of the lettering on that Keys! wheel or that its not round.
-
I'm thinking of machining out the existing spline and welding in a new extended boss that has the right spline wire eroded in it plus a recess so there's no need to extend the steering column or reduce the thread engagement on the retaining nut.
-
Thanks AJ, its been a fun project so far! The steering extension should be fairly easy to do, I just need to find a second hand stock wheel for sensible money as my cars a daily driver. Will let you know the outcome when I get round to it.

You're welcome, glad you enjoyed it! A lot of the whine you were hearing is the shorter final drive, its quite noisy, especially at high speeds. I've been very impressed with the tyres, they're Pilot Super Sports, which are different to the Pilot Sport range, just so you know in case you do get some of those next. I think I might need some different pads for daily use, they were silent before the track day but now they're properly bedded in the squeal on normal road use is horrendous!
-
I bet your counting that down in hours minutes and seconds!

Nice shot from Cadwell Park today, after expecting rain all week we were greeted with glorious sunshine all day. Superb track, loved it and definitely have sorted my previous brake woes with a change of pads to Performance Friction .08s
-
No problem, you should be able to get them from any Toyota dealer. They're not stock items so phone them up to order first. Mine took a couple of days to come in.
-
You definitely need different brackets, I had this pain a few weeks ago. The screws are like cheese as well so I'd buy new ones unless they weren't as tight as mine. The part numbers are: 1off SU003-01962 (bracket) 1off SU003-01963 (bracket 8off SU003-02914 (screws)
-
I've got the back half as it's custom on the Harrop, someone is welcome to that if it helps
-
I had the diff bushes done at the same time as the final drive and I have lots of gear whine from the diff. It's not an offensive noise but it's definitely there. I doubt you'd hear it with a non stock exhaust though.

MFactory Final Drive Kits in stock at Tuning Developments for GT86 and BRZ
DanJ replied to Mike@TD.co.uk's topic in Tuning Developments
Only thing that requires an edit ECU wise are the gear speed thresholds. These are used so the dash gear indicator is correct and other engine speed vs wheel speed calculations you may have.- 101 replies

Spooky, I had a Fabia VRS before my BRZ. A well trodden path it seems!
-
The mounting brackets for the Subaru head unit are unique to the "market trader special" design. If you buy a GT86 compatible head unit you'll need the GT86 brackets, the Toyota part numbers are: SU00301962 and SU00301963

Nice :-) better than being without a car though (just!)
-
Yep! I tried the fuel left PID as well and it's complete bollocks, but oil temp works a treat.
-
what delight do you have as a courtesy car?!

I used the details from the second post here: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23530 It works for me with blanks in the diagnostic start and stop fields.
-
I'm up for this, if we're short of numbers from club members alone there's plenty of petrolheads at work who'd be up for it as well.
