Thought I'd share this surprising experience with everyone. Last year I paid £405 to insure my car with Aviva, only mods were the alloy wheels and I shopped around a lot to get that price. As I'm about to supercharge etc etc I phoned up the specialist insurers on here, the best I was quoted was £553 with all the mods that are going on soon and that are planned for later this year. I didn't think that was too bad compared to last year, but before proceeding I thought I'd check the usual online suspects. Had some very silly quotes as expected (the worst was £6000!) but Flux Direct came up at £440 I phoned up to run through the details to make sure the quoted cover was identical (same insurer with AXA, same excess etc etc), it is and also had some of the optional extras that weren't included in the original £553 quote. After trying to buy the policy online I noticed an error in the address so had to phone back up to pay, after running through all the details again the final price came to just under £430. Needless to say I'm very pleased with that compared to last year, but I'm shocked at how badly marked up the original direct quote was.

I don't like the convertible styling but this looks great. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

Thanks. Now the wait for the brake calipers.... I'm beginning to worry I'm not going to have mine in time for Snetterton, not good! Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

If it's any inspiration I'm not far off being a year without smoking a cigarette. I found vaping to be a good substitute and am gradually reducing the nicotine strength, two more steps to go and then I'll be on 0mg. There's really no point then, just the psychosematic part to overcome! Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

They look superb, great colour choice too ;-)

MFactory Final Drive Kits in stock at Tuning Developments for GT86 and BRZ
DanJ replied to Mike@TD.co.uk's topic in Tuning Developments
As requested.....I've only added 1st and 2nd Gear for the 4.44 as the trend is obviously the same in all gears. I've also done a 4.1 vs 4.67 comparison for Stock NA with the same y-axis and a rescaled y-axis so we can't be accused of hijacking Mike's thread- 101 replies

Agreed, its all "horses for courses", I spent a lot of time playing about with my various spreadsheets before deciding that the 4.67 would be fine for how I use my car, but its definitely not a "no brainer" mod for everyone. The two graphs are based on Abbey dyno plots for the Harrop and Cosworth with different final drive combos.- 101 replies

Indeed it will! I should be able to borrow the VBox from work so we can have some proper data to review and try to normalise for corner exit speeds etc. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk- 101 replies

Already booked in for a change to 4.67 at the end of the month. Those of you considering changing FD ratio should find this spreadsheet I made useful: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/87478421/GT86_Ratios_and_Tractive_Effort.xlsx I was originally concerned about the revs being too high at motorway speeds with a 4.67, but at 70mph its only ~400rpm more in 6th.- 101 replies

It's one of those well received signs that winter is ending! Should be a really interesting year, unless Lorenzo just walks away with it as has been threatened from some of the test days. Really pleased to see Redding consistently up there, deserves a decent crack at it after last year! Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

I played Colin McRae Rally 2 and 3 to death, ddin't like 4 as much and really didn;t like the Dirt series afterwards,, it all went a bit too arcadey on the handling for me after that. Nice work on the gaming rig anyway, I'd do something similar myself if I had t the room, but its not a valid reason to kick my lodger out and adat their room :-)

Great, look forward to seeing you there :-) Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

After a miserable day weather wise my mood was brightened considerably by the news that the Harrop SC kit has arrived at Abbey Motorsport and is now on its way to me I originally had the last weekend of the month scheduled for fitting all the "coming soon" upgrades, I somehow doubt I'll be able to wait until then!

What make head unit is that? I was looking at ca-fi but there's been no stock for ages as you know! Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

I'm all booked in, just to decide whether I have an early start or stay over night now. The stripped out Clio and supercharged VX220 will be coming along as well, seems I need to get the thumb screws out for the rest of them!
-
Yep, it should all be fitted by then. I've started designing the mounts and shrouds for the oil cooler, think you'll like what I have in mind :-)

I'm on 18x8 Ultraleggeras and 225/40 R18 Pilot Super Sports. That saved half a kilo per corner over stock, but I still noticed the extra rotational inertia - there's definitely more momentum to reign in when braking from having the wheel rim out at a larger diameter.
