    WTB OEM rims

No problem, they're not going anywhere soon!

    WTB OEM rims

They've got the stock Michelins on, they came off the car having been on from new at ~15k miles, I'd have to measure to be sure but there's roughly 3-4mm of tread left on average. I could get them taken over to Rushden in Northamptonshire if that's closer for you to collect as well.

    Tuning Developments GT86 Turbo 'TD86'

Spoke to the guys on the stand today, the M-Factory unit has greater torque bias capability (max 75% from one wheel to the other vs ~66% on the stock diff) and greater torque capacity overall.

    WTB OEM rims

I've got a set of four, all spotless. Was going to sell as singles on ebay but I'd happily shift as a set for cash. They're currently in storage at my brothers in Leighton Buzzard in Beds so not too far to collect either. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

    Tuning Developments GT86 Turbo 'TD86'

Fair comment, that makes sense. I drove a Nissan GTR a couple of years ago and the rear diff in that was awful at low speed. I'm coming up for a 20k service so I may have to come your way for that and sample what you have to offer at the same time As far as I know an ATB is a Torsen variant, depending on gear tooth numbers, helix angles and oil viscosity then they have different torque biasing characteristics. M-Factory are at Autosport Engineering next week so I'm going to pop along to their stand and see what info they'll share.

Hi Mike, As the standard fit diff is a Torsen I'm interested to know why you went for the ATB variant over a 1.5 way or 2 way plate LSD? Do you have any technical details on what's different between the factory fit Torsen and the M-Factory ATB? Keep up the good work, the car's looking great, I was pretty convinced on going supercharged but you've got me reconsidering that decision!

    A few noobish questions

Those change up speeds are fine on the flat (which the regulatory drive cycle effectively is), but you should definitely change down if going up an incline. IIRC you can change the rpm the shift up recommendation occurs at, or switch it off completely.
  8. The warranty stays with the car, so if within the warranty period you should be fine. That's certainly the case with Subaru so I can't see Toyota offering a poorer service. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

    Rally presenting news

That event in Italy looks great, the current WRC promoters should take note for the quality of a lot of that footage. Have fun :-)

    Farewell Vulcan

I got to see her at Fairford a couple of years ago, so glad they managed to get it flying again but sad that like most good things it has to come to an end. Hopefully they'll get Concorde flying again in 2019 so the RR Olympus roar can be heard again :-)
  12. Greetings all, I actually signed up a few weeks ago but just now getting round to posting, I've been enjoying reading the various topics in the meantime. You seem a friendly and knowledgable bunch :-) I've had my '14 plate BRZ since August last year, it was an ex-demonstrator with 3,500 miles on the clock and managed to knock them down to £20k, I thought it was a bargain then and after nearly a year of ownership I still do now! Sadly I was the recipient of a white van scrape from NSF wheel through the wing, door and into the rear quarter panel 2 days before Christmas! Thankfully their insurance company admitted liability as soon they saw the pics from the scene of the incident, I've pursued a diminution in value claim which should hopefully provide a couple of thousand soon to start me on the slippery slope of modifications...... I'm a Mechanical Design Engineer by trade (high-speed flywheel based mechanical hybrid systems - http://www.flybrid.co.uk if your interested - yes they really do spin at 60,000rpm!) and worked on suspension systems at Bentley and Nissan prior to my current job. My first foray into RWD motoring was a single seat racing car designed and built as part of my University Formula Student team (200kg spaceframe, 600cc bike engine + Avon hillclimb tyres = awesome), will fish some pics and post at some point at the future, its the 2015 competition at Silverstone next weekend, if any of you are in the area its worth a visit, the standard of the best cars is phenomenal! http://events.imeche.org/formula-student Looking forward to getting involved and canvassing opinion as I begin my own build :-) Dan.
  13. see front of now bent Impreza?!
  14. Thanks for organising Jeff, I had a great time on and off track, good to meet you all and thanks all for being welcoming to the noob :-)
  15. Apologies if this has been posted before, stumbled across the link below last night, tried it this morning and it works a treat https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhXZb4vbOog

    Tyres

I had no complaints about the Primacies in the dry (well apart from them being "Hollywood Screamers"!) but I definitely agree with Lauren on the distinct lack of wet grip progression, they seemed to only like accelerating or cornering, finding a happy medium for both on the limit was tricky. I was caught out a couple of times in the wet with sudden unexpected armfuls of opposite lock, which didn't end up in facing oncoming traffic more by luck than judgement. After the second near incident which was particularly brown trousery I never turned the TC off in the wet again. That was all on public roads, it would've been good to have the experience of being able to safely go over the limits on a wet track without fear of hitting something/someone else to restore the confidence.
  17. Great, see you there around 8am. It'll be a 6am departure for me, at least its a long enough journey to recover any snooze button related lateness :-)

    Tyres

I think wooden tyres would be better in the wet than the factory fit Primatives (sic)! I've had Conti Sport Contact 2's and Pilot Super Sports on previous cars, dry and wet grip was great with both but the wear life of the Conti's was shocking, that's why I went for the Michelin's this time around. What's the wear like on the Contact 5's?

    Tyres

I recently paid £100 each from Opono for 225/40 18 Pilot Super Sports, will be interested to see if they're cheaper through RRG, very impressed with them so far and would likely buy again in the future. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  20. Gates open at 9am, a pre-event Maccies "fuel up" sounds like a great idea :-)

    Racing seats and harnesses

I'm three doors down from Grand Prix Racewear at work, let me know if you're ever in the area. Willans are also on the Silverstone site and are a very helpful harness supplier.

    Racing seats and harnesses

Schroth have some good advice on do's and don'ts for full harness installs on their website, its very easy to get this wrong and end up with an install where you can end up badly injured in a big shunt https://www.schrothracing.com/sdocs/2009_Competition_Instructions.pdf
  23. Do we have an allocated area where we're all going to park together on Monday? If not is there a plan to convoy it in from somewhere nearby in the morning? Looking forward to the day and meeting you all, fingers crossed for the weather. I'm at Silverstone for the Moto GP on Sunday so expect to be either a) burnt to a crisp or still soaking wet through!

    Bias pedal box installation.

Not their core business I guess, the control systems guys at work are forever cursing the vagaries of different OEMs who decide not to follow the published CAN protocols. Just had a quick look at the Motec site, you should be able to add a strain gauge sensor to the lever for the shifter on your Samsonas sequential and have full on clutchless flat shifts :-) You could buy a lot of go faster bits for £10k.....and that's before you even get into calibrating it.
  25. I stumbled across this today, it's mighty impressive! http://www.motorsportretro.com/2015/03/alex-kelseys-mad-creation-2-is-an-insane-rally-car-built-in-a-barn/ http://www.worldtimeattack.com/index.php/alex-kelseys-wtac-gymkhana/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmwuKu0ujAY
