OFFER GT86 Chargespeed Bottom line style front lip and side diffuser combo
S18 RSG replied to Tarmac's topic in Tarmac Sportz
Sarcasm is my go to response when I'm unsure whether I'm responding to sarcasm or genuine confusion. It covers all basis. Anyway, I think we've talked enough about screwing our cars. -

Well, I guess you could try drilling into the floor, but I don't know what you'd gain from that :/ Sorry -
11th is a Friday, perfect opportunity to organise a meet that following weekend and go for a proper drive somewhere nice. Once you get firmer confirmation of the date, let me know and I'll get something set up in terms of a meet.

Yes, fairly easy to do. Either drill and screw in (which I did) or 3M/strong glue. Would recommend screwing though. -
I've never owned a FIFA on PC, only because everyone I know has it on Xbox. That being said, I don't really talk to the guys I used to play it with, so I could get it on PC. One prerequisite however, is I have to play the Michael Carrick role. Finding space just in front of the defense and controlling the pace of the play. That way I'm always back and ready for counter attacks. I'm not someone who's concerned with scoring or getting assists, I just wanna control the middle of the park.

Yeah, I'd like someone who's done them before to have a look. I've fitted the new ones already, but I'm still not too confident in them, although they've not come out in the past 5 days since being fitted. Perhaps we can have a look at the next meet

I just spoke to James from Amber as I needed to order my 3rd set of side markers in the past year, and he mentioned that other people had compained about what I had. Anybody on here had an issue with the side marker clips being shit and coming undone all the time? My original side markers came unclipped on a drive back home from a Midlands meet, smashing when they got caught in my wheels. The replacement Valenti side markers have now suffered the same fate, but rather than staying on the car, this one just flew off and I have no idea where it is. Anyone know of a fix? I'm highly tempted to just use some superglue or similar and never be able to take them out, but surely there's a better way.

I can deal with the Afro's, I just turn in game chat off so I can't hear the team of 12 year olds bragging about how many times they've violated my mother this week, I just hate losing to them. Fortunately, most of them are fairly awful.

Ah I almost forgot about Pro Clubs. Myself and some buddies spent the first few months of FIFA 16 battling to Division 1, then a few weeks trying to stay there. Unfortunately, it seems like we were one of very few teams who wanted to play real football (high possession pass and move style), as 90% of games we played at Div 1 level contained a 5"2 striker and constant through balls over the top. We stopped playing after having one game in which we had over 70% possession, and 15 shots on target, and lost to a team of screaming 12 year olds with four 5"2 strikers with afros, who had 3 shots all game and scored them all. Perhaps if the new Pro Clubs is a little better, I may be conviced to spend some money.

Forgot to post an update in here. Igor and I met up for an hour or so the other night. I think it's safe to say he enjoyed the GT (or maybe just my exuberant driving style) and as far as I'm aware, he has placed his deposit on one from our local dealer. Perhaps when he has picked his new car up we can celebrate with a day out in the Beacons, of course open invitation to anyone in the area or who fancies the drive to south Wales

If you're bothered about scraping the bumper, you could always get a splitter. Much easier and cheaper to replace than a bumper if you scratch/damage it. That being said, I'm lowered about 25mm with a splitter also, so there's barely a speedbump in my area I can get over without scraping.

They replaced both of mine no questions asked?

Mine made mid 160's on Abbey's dyno before it was mapped first time, that was with no second cat, air filter and exhaust. I highly doubt a stock car would make 170 on their dyno. After adding a manifold and mapping I'm at mid to high 180's on their dyno. 170 at the hubs is the equivalent of almost 200hp at the flywheel, but it's generally accepted that our cars made no more than around 185hp at the flywheel from the factory, which is closer to 160 at the hubs.

I had exactly the same problem around 6 weeks ago Matt. I just dropped the car off at my local dealer to run some tests. Turned out that both fobs died on the same day. Replacement battery in both and away we went.

Our brains can tell the difference between a blue dinosaur and a green dinosaur, or a fish and a dog, that's not the problem. The problem is they advertised something enormously different. If you imagine you have 5 sets of Lego (let's say LOTR, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Frozen and Pokemon for sake of argument). In those sets, you have 10 characters each, that means 50 well designed characters in total. What No Man's Sky did, is say they have 50 heads, 50 bodys, 50 sets of arms and 50 sets of legs, so rather than 50 characters, the developers would say they had 312,500,000 combinations, so therefore that's 312,500,000 creatures. Yes, that is true, but putting Harry Potter's head on an Orc's body with Machamp's arms, a light saber and Elsa's legs doesn't make for a particularly quality product. it just looks like a randomly selected mess that makes no sense, which is exactly what NMS was. What I'm trying to say is, rather than concentrating on quality, and making a few thousand well rendered, well designed creatures, they promised millions. Problem is, the trailers and advertisements showed well designed, enormous creatures, not RNG creatures pieced together into a mess. Using the method mentioned above, the quality was always going to suffer. Unfortunately, they were more interested in shocking people with enormous numbers (like the "trillions of planets" or "unlimited combinations") than actually making a quality product, and the fact that they designed scripted levels outside of the normal game for each of their tech demos and trailers, rather than showing the actual game, goes to show they were trying to hide it.
-
Nah, the problem with NMS has nothing to do with the human brain, it has everything to do with the fact that the developers flat out lied. They promised multiplayer for a start, which was never even part of the game. They promised enormous planets, all vastly different with huge creatures and buildings/caves to explore. What they delivered was a game which was built around a random number generator. The creature system was supposed to be a way to find unique, beautiful creatures. What we got was a few lists of parts randomly chosen to create a new creature. They chose from: head; body; arms; legs; size; colour; sound; movement. All that means is, you get weirdly shapen dinosaurs with the head of a dog and the body of a fish. They're not unique creatures, they're just a mess. Also, rather than one vast, expansive galaxy, you had a million instanced solar systems, all containing almost exactly the same makeup of 4 or 5 planets, all 90% identical to the last planet you were on, with just a different colour, a different number in the bottom corner for temperature and some different plants and creatures. It goes to show how much they lied as they're apparently staring down the barrel of a huge false advertising lawsuit in the near future.

I have the Eibach's after swapping with another member on here. I can see how putting thicker ARB's on the stock suspension could ruin the handling and ride all in one. Combined with an adjustable set of coilovers, such as mine, I think they provide a good compromise. I can run the damping on a softer setting than I used to, which helps a lot with ride quality, while still being able to corner flat, which is obviously a good thing. I would say however, that having ARB's requires a lot of experimentation to get the setup correct. I have tried all 6 combinations of stiffness on the ARB's, along with around 20 different setups for the damping. I've settled for mid/stiff on the F/R ARB's respectively, and around half of the full range of stiffness on the dampers. The ride is probably too hard for some people, and on certain roads a little too hard for me, but I find it's a good compromise between making a noticable difference compared to the stock ARB's, and not being too stiff that it starts losing traction on the inside wheel under heavy cornering. At some point in the future I may switch out to Whiteline ARB's, as I've always had a good experience with them, but as I didn't have to pay for these ARB's, it was an experiment worth doing I feel.

Well Igi, if you need to know what a ~210-215hp GT86 feels like, let me know. I'm from Cwmbran too, so more than happy to meet you one evening and take you for a spin. No doubt you've probably seen my car driving around, especially if you work around this area too. Be nice to see another modified one going around.

Unfortunately not. I have the stock passenger side one, but the lens smashed when it got unclipped and caught in my wheels. When the Valenti one came unclipped during my drive to work this morning, it just came off and I now have a hole where it should be. I will try bending that tab on the new ones though.

I enjoy FIFA, but didn't play FUT on Fifa 16. I spent at least £500 on FIFA points on Fifa 15 UT, so had to remove temptation by not playing. I was also doing a lot of work with EA at the time, and got a lot of free stuff, so felt obliged to play their game. I've not been sent a free copy of Fifa 17 yet, and I don't fancy spending £50 on a game I've got for free for the past 4 years, and even then I barely played, so not sure I'll even buy the new one. Horizon 3 will keep me entertained for a while yet (despite having completed it already), then there's always BF1 soon and Guitar Hero 3 customs keep me coming back every day.

Interesting couple of points there. The OEM ones fitted flush, and only the passenger side ever popped out. The Valenti's don't sit quite as flush, but not really too noticable. Again, only the passenger side ever pops out, drivers side is fine. Bumpers certainly doesn't fit fantastically. The pointed corner under the headlight rubs on the headlight and has peeled away a small bit of paint, the join between front wing and bumper on both sides is typically poor also. I wouldn't be surprised if these are contributing factors. The annoying thing is, when I fitted the Valenti side markers, they seemed to sit in well, and only once or twice in the past 4 months have they popped out of the clip. It's been at least a month since it popped out last, and all of a sudden it pops out when driving, the cable extends and they get caught, and suddenly I have no side marker anymore. It's a slippery slope. My new ones should be here tomorrow thanks to James, so when I fit them I think a dab of industrial strength glue from the COSHH cupboard in work may be involved.

If you need 450whp to have fun in your car, the roads you're driving on are too straight! A friend of mine has a 600hp Nissan GTR, but he can barely pull away from me on twisty roads, partly due to the vast difference is driver skill (he's done no driver training or track time) but also due to how great our cars are on twisty roads. Because of that last point, forced induction is as far as I'd want to go with an 86, as any more than that I feel like you're losing the idea of the car. I can appreciate people going to extremes with 400+hp, or V8's on these cars, just as I can appreciate the lowrider scene and the Japanese VIP scene, it's all about personal expression. For me though, the 86 is all about handling and being able to thrash the car around all day. I wouldn't want to lose that.

Yeah, it may well be mapped, but if it was mapped pre-header, then not re-mapped when it was fitted, it will produce similar results. I had mine mapped as stock, then had a UEL manifold fitted and took it back to Abbey for re-mapping. On the initial run the car was around 5hp down on the previous run with stock manifold. By the end of the day it was up 5hp and torque curve completely transformed. These modern engines rely so much on sensors and software that just changing parts often doesn't do a lot, at least not for a few hundred miles until the car adjusts its brain to calculate using new readings.

Braided lines aren't really designed to make you feel a difference, they're more designed for quite the opposite, so you DON'T feel a difference on longer track sessions/fast road driving. We all know what a drop in brake fluid pressure feels like. Pedal goes to the floor, brakes fade, walls approach quickly. That's why we go for a higher boiling point fluid (so the fluid maintains a constant viscocity at even extreme temperatures) and braided stainless steel lines that don't expand under high temperatures, and therefore maintain consistent pressure within them. I think the misconception is that people believe they will feel a huge difference in brake feel even under normal driving, but while that may be an added bonus in some cases, it's not what they're designed for.

It doesn't mention anything about mapping, so chances are it's still running stock map. In that case, the ECU probably hasn't adjusted for the new parts. I'm surprised, if that is the case, that it isn't making significantly less power.
