Yeah, it honestly depends on what you use it for. When I bought my 1440p 144Hz Swift, I was playing BF4 every day, so the refresh rate was more appealing (especially with SLI 970's, 144 fps wasn't really a challenge). On the flip side, my dad cursed me when I sold the 4k, cause he's big into photography and loved editing on it.

Beautiful monitor. When they first announced it I was ready to place my order, assuming it was 120Hz, but alas, I was wrong. For the time being, I'm sticking with my PG278Q until a decent 4k 120+Hz monitor comes out. I've had 4k monitors in the past, but there just is no substitute for framerate in my eyes.

    Ferrari Engine swap!

He's a drifter. It's a marketing ploy. More advertisement for him and his team = more sponsorships and funding for his career. Mad Mike does the same thing every year, puts some crazy engine in a small car (quad rotor in the MX5 for example). It helps get their name out their for sponsorships. Good business.

I bought my dad a Nextbase 402G for Christmas. I remember him saying there were a few weird things with it, such as the hard wire kit costing a lot of money as an additional extra, and something about the settings not being saved if it's been turned off for a while. Other than those, honestly small issues, he's had no complaints. I've looked at the footage and it seems to be great quality. I also think it has some kind of motion detection as it apparently starts recording even if the car is off but it detects movement/vibration. Good for if your car gets stolen.

The wheels have changed colour since this picture, but you should be able to see from this angle.

225 on an 8.5, to me, is perfect. Enough stretch to look good and stiffen up the sidewalk, but not too much that you lose the rim protection. You have to remembe that rim protection differs per tyre. Find a tyre with a good rim protector, and you'll still get the benefits with a 225 on an 8.5. I have Vredestein tyres which are very highly rated summer tyres, and they have great rim protection.

Feel free to send me over a quote via PM As you can probably tell from what I've said here, they haven't exactly left me in an easy position money wise, so price is a big factor.

I get what you're saying in a general sense Will, but this was more to do with the circumstances. The fact is, in order for me to send the manifold off before receiving a refund, i would have to pay for 2 sessions at a garage (one to remove the 1320 manifold and one to fit the new one), and even when I told them I didn't have another manifold to use, so would have no use of my car and therefore would require a hire car for a week, their response was "borrow money from a family member, or take out a loan". That's appauling customer service regardless of the situation. No vendor should be happy with putting their customers in a difficult situation whereby they need to borrow money to send back a faulty item. Ok, in this case, that story was slightly exagerrated, and thanks to a very kind vendor on this website (which I will explain further when it's gone through), it looks like I'm gonna have a manifold to put on the car anyway, and an offer which puts me in no worse of a position than I'm currently in.

Yeah, I originally paid £388, now I'd be getting £425, so that'a bonus. I have mentioned that option to them via email. I said they can either arrange courier for me to send it back, or if they refuse to do that, just give me the $250 refund and I'll try and sell it on.

My experiences of buying abroad mirror yours up until this point Rob. Americans tend to be known for their customer service, but I get a feeling the guys at 1320 aren't American. The replies to emails come back in broekn English with very poorly structured sentences for one. I accept that some people are just a little poorly educated, but it sounds like English is a second language. Either way, my main hope is just that nobody from here buys from them again. I know their products have been ok for other people, so they've not had to deal with aftersales, but it's really not worth the risk.

I agree with you, however I'm not at all interested in their warranty. I want the send the manifold back to get a full refund and therefore do what I should have done in the first place, and buy a manifold from one of our trusted vendors in the UK. As the manifold was fairly cheap (less than £400 before courier charges), every little bit I have to pay for eats into the refund. I just want to minimise losses as much as possible, and honestly think a business should accept that they have to pay for returns of faulty items.

Yes. That's the LEAST I expected. But no. They told me to pay for delivery and provide them with tracking details as soon as possible.

Be VERY careful who you buy parts from

Further to the above, they have now asked me to return the manifold to them, AND ARRANGE THE COURIER. I am fuming. As if already being hundreds of pounds out of pocket, they now expect me to pay for international, signed for, tracked delivery.
  14. I can see the appeal of a Mountune style upgrade path from the factory, I think it would be highly successful. The problem is, who would offer it? The biggest advantage with Ford is that their engines are built in the UK, so it's easy for them to work directly with a UK based tuner to offer a UK friendly tuning package that's tested on our roads, and therefore be suitable for warranty, as they can do it during the building and testing stage of the engine. As far as I'm aware, the GT86 engine is built in Japan, so it's not so easy for the tuning packages to be as strictly tested, unless they were to work with a Japan based tuner, in which case their UK branches would have to have knowledge of the Japanese tuning packages, whereas Ford can just call directly on Mountune. We all know TD, Fensport, Abbey etc. are fully capable of this sort of work, so there's an argument for Toyota working with one of those companies to offer factory tuning, but the problem there is, none of the UK based tuners we all love are strictly GT86 specialists, whereas Mountune are 100% Ford, so it works. I don't know if any of our favourite tuners could take on a production run of GT86 tuning packages for the factory models. That's a lot of work. It's a great idea, but I can see many reasons why it was never pursued.

    Carbon Bumpers anyone?

My point isn't practicality really. Realistically, nothing I've even done to my car is practical (it's lower, no longer has usable back seats, has a loud exhaust etc.). My point is more about being sensible. I've been around the modified car forum scene for over 10 years. I've seen my fair share of people spending thousands on their cars for various reasons, and seen my fair share of failures and disappointments in the aftermath (especially when spending money for the purpose of getting attention or impressing others). I was just trying to get you to think about WHY you want to spend so much money on something so unnecessary. If you are doing it to impress people, you're following a dangerous path. That's all I'll say about this. It really doesn't matter to me what you do, it's you rmoney haha. I'm just trying to be Mr. Sensible.

    Carbon Bumpers anyone?

You know what, I just deleted about 5 paragraphs answering you, because as I've learned many times on here, and generally around internet forums, my opinion counts for shit and you're gonna do what you want anyway. Why make myself look like a dick and try and make you see another perspective, when it's a complete waste of both our time If you truly believe the best use of your money is to buy a carbon fibre bumper, you go right ahead and do that

    Carbon Bumpers anyone?

A carbon wrap is maybe £100. A carbon bumper is maybe £1000. Worth it? Plus, re-iterate my final point, various parts of his car aren't genuine carbon, just carbon skins/covers.

I wasn't saying ergonomics aren't important for keyboards, but in my eyes not nearly AS important as a mouse. The mouse is something you hold in your hand, and everyone's hands are different. The keyboard is just something you rest on and occasionally press. That being said, there are some aspects of modern keyboards I would never avoid from an ergonomic standpoint. For example, some of these Logitech/Corsair keyboards with huge wrist rests in front of the keys, or huge panels of macro keys along the top or down one side. Just completely irrelevant. Of course, it's all personal preference. When it comes to mice, the most important thing for me, without a doubt, is the feel when using it. Just try and use a RAT mouse with big hands and you'll know what I mean. Sensors are of course a consideration, but most modern mice have customisable polling rates and DPI settings, so I would much prefer to have to spend an hour playing with settings on a comfortable mouse, than buy a less comfortable one just for a slightly better sensor.

    Carbon Bumpers anyone?

The point of carbon fibre was always either aesthetics or weight saving. In the past, if you wanted weight saving and aesthetics, you got real carbon fibre. If you wanted aesthetics, you got things wrapped to look like carbon fibre. The bumpers are already light enough, so the weight saving aspect is irrelevant. Surely if you just want the aesthetics, getting the bumper wrapped achieves that. At the point where you go real carbon just for aesthetics, you've done it so you can brag about having real carbon, but from memory, I'm sure when I looked at your car at Japfest there were a few panels which were just covered in a carbon skin as opposed to being real carbon (the roof and perhaps the fenders also from memory?), so with that being the case, is it really worth spending hundreds, or perhaps thousands of pounds on real carbon, when other parts of the car are just covered/wrapped anyway?

Mouse is generally more on the ergonomics for me. I would prefer to go into a store and try a few mice first. I eventually settled on the Logitech G502. I tend to rest my palm on the mouse, and have relatively big hands, so needed something long enough that my wrist isn't dragging along the desk. Keyboards are a different story. Once you delve into the world of mechanical keys, everyone develops a favourite, and because certain keyboards only come with certain switches (unless you go for something more customisable like Ducky), it really does narrow your choice down. I went into Overclockers in Newcastle on Lyme, they have a shop full of keyboards and mice, and stations for you to play games on. I just chose a few I liked and played a game of BF on their rig.

    Bob the budget GT86

As nice as the wheels are, that's always been my issue with black, it loses so much detail in pictures, and even in real life. It also makes your tyres look grey, no matter how much you clean them. It's a shame, cause black wheels have always been a favourite of mine.

How often should the TC light come on?

It depends on what driving mode you use. If you keep it in normal mode, the traction control is very intrusive. Sport mode gives you a bit more freedom, but any slight bit of upset will likely still bring the light on. I tend to drive with TC fully off for most faster driving as the car is communicative enough to keep it under control without any computing, however, even when driving in normal or sport, I can't recall hearing a clunky noise from the diff. Perhaps an oil change may be in order? It's a recommendation from most knowledgeable places anyway.

    Bristol/Southwest specialist?

It's easy to avoid Litchfield. Email them, call them, do whatever you want, as soon as they find out you have a GT86, and not a GTR and deep pockets, they tend to avoid you, not the other way around I have a local Jap specialist I use for servicing, maintenance and general fitting, but anything specialised I'm happy to drive to Abbey (2.5 hours) or TD (3 hours). Fensport is over 4 hours for me, so kinda out of the question.

Abbey Motorsport Cobra larger capacity HFC

We have a very strong feeling it's the, likely cheaply made flex joints used on the longer runners. Another member mentioned that he had the same noise I'm experiencing on a previous car, which was fixed by the flex joints being replaced. I also found out that my fitter didn't leak test the flex joints, only the flanges. Gonna see if I can get the exhaust place that made my catback to either cut them out and replace them, or try and seal them up properly. That is, unless you have any suggestions and/or solutions?
