GT86 BRZ Tuning Package from Tuning Developments
Paul replied to Mike@TD.co.uk's topic in Tuning Developments
Mike, do you recommend a particular HFC pipe for those who want maximum power but to still pass an MOT without issue?- 231 replies

Took protected no claims this time, just in case.

Got any wrap on your car? Don't bother. Had this last year, phoned up and they refused to even quote me, saying their underwriters don't cover wraps whatsoever. Had a conversation on the forum as well and the rep here said that was not the case, but guess what, a year later and the same conversation. Wouldn't quote me despite just my mirrors and roof being wrapped in carbon, not exactly in danger of being liable for a re-wrap are they? Will go with a competitor and strike them off my yearly checklist.

It's just mind blowing, I have over £10k worth of mods on the car but they get scared off by a piece of vinyl on the roof which cost £50 to have done. In any case, I ended up going with Greenlight, they're cool with me going FI next year and I get dirt cheap trackday insurance (which is now as vital as oxygen if I want to keep living!).

Big roundabout near my house has the main carriageway running through the middle so traffic lights control entry off the slip roads onto the main stretch. At the lights yesterday morning, TC on, merc next to me, gunned the throttle and the back end just sort of moved to the right without going forwards too much, after a second or 2 forwards progression appeared but the merc was long gone....

Discs and pads all need doing in the new year. Money's tighter than I'd have liked (no BBK ) so looking for the best aftermarket brake upgrade package, discs, pads, brake lines and fluid. Would like to get rid of the horrific squealing if at all possible. Who's running what and would you recommend?

I'll go take a look in a bit and let you know.

I may have mine knocking around, what's it worth to you?

Drill a hole, run a cable. Job done.

Hi Mya, Generally speaking, from my experience, a high flow cat (for example the Berk) will get you through emissions IF you have a good-quality "backbox" style catback exhaust. I got through my 2016 MOT with a Tomei UEL, Tomei OP, Berk HFC and an Invidia Q300, and they said it was fine. This year however the HFC has deteriorated and I JUST got through the emissions test, and that was with the stock catback rather than the Q300 which is one of the higher quality exhausts. As a caveat to that, I did spend the best past of 18 months blowing flames out of the exhaust and therefore probably burnt the thing to a crisp (no regrets!). So it can be a bit hit and miss with the cheaper HFC pipes if you have a Y style catback, or just if you get unlucky. A high quality HFC pipe like an Invidia, OR a higher-capacity HCF like the Cobra may be a better bet for futureproofing but will cost you more and still limit power in the long term. Alternatively, go full decat and find a friendly MOT tester (I believe Mike @ TD has a local one that he points his turbo customers to ) who will fudge the emissions test for you. A better alternative, and one that many people use, is go full catless for the max power, and simply swap the stock pipe over for MOT time. only 4 bolts and 2 gaskets and doesn't take long.

***PRICE DROP**** Supercharged GT86 62 plate
Paul replied to Bfranklyn86's topic in For Sale GT86 / BRZ Cars
That's a bargain. -
I am torn between wanting to replace the front speakers and knowing I'll make a bloody mess of the install. Will probably wait until I can afford to do a full sound setup and then get it professionally done.

Use new, trust me, the state of my gaskets when they come off....urgh.

The 3" you deffo need a tune. I drove around without one for ~6 months and it was noticeable. Not world-ending, but noticeable.

Got some questions: How long have you had it? What condition is it in? How easy is it to fit? Will the OEM fit in the back of the car? If I were to buy it, and drive up to Coventry, how willing would you be to help me fit it before I drive home? -
I can't comment on specifics around the 17" size regarding wheels and tyres to be honest, I put 18x8.5s on my car the month I got it and haven't changed them since.

I know you're very generous! Not what my wife says about you (something about tempting me to spend all my money on stuff that isn't for her). -

Notes, cheers! Would we get a group buy discount if a bunch of us wanted bronze ones? -
if you go 17x8.5 instead, there's tonnes of choice, and no real difference to the tyres you use or the way the car drives. As long as you stay away from the really cheapy reps most stuff should be strong enough for road and track use, although to save weight you should look at forged wheels like the TE37s, or something like the XXR range which are pretty light. How important are looks to you?

Hi Lucas, I don't believe that's the case, I've seen them in other colours straight from factory (I know the website just says blue and black though!) -
But......racecar!

Sold a while back, I bought this replica from TarmacSportz and had it painted, or you can buy a genuine pre-painted one from Fensport.
