Ok, I confess, it was 2 weeks ago. Car is still pretty clean though, only been bringing it out of the garage when it has been dry.

The link doesn't work for me, but I spy Inchcape in the IRL. One of our other cars is a 62 plate Audi A6 which we bought new from an Inchcape dealer. The reason I ended up with them is because they just gave a straight 15% discount over the car plus all accessories we ordered against the list price. You said the car seems to be near the bottom end of the price from Toyota (which I assume is the new price), so why not see what price Inchcape will sell a brand new car for?

Unfortunately the problem cannot be created on demand and happens quite rarely, although often enough to be an annoyance. I don't have a massive amount of confidence in the dealer so I can't see it being rectified unless I get to a point where the problem always happens.

I had a dealer fitted reversing sensor which was fine when I picked up the car (had to make a quick stop at a garage as it was running on fumes) and when I got home from the dealership, but when I went to collect my daughter from her school drop off, putting the car in reverse just had a constant beep tone rather than actually warning me as I got nearer to things. When I got back home the car did the same thing. When I go on a longer journey it works fine, but there seems to be a pattern that if I use the car for a short journey (say less than a mile), when I select reverse I get the continual tone. Has anyone experienced anything similar? I'm going to take it back to the dealership but I just want to check my theory on drive distance is correct first as this is likely to be the kind of issue that appears intermittent and difficult to fix as a result.

I filled up on Momentum 99 from Tesco yesterday. Yes, Tesco, not Shell. So far I've used BP, Shell and Tesco and not noticed any difference between the three other than Tesco being cheaper (paid £1.04 per litre yesterday). Maybe I need to thrash the car to see a difference....

Unexpected things you Disike about the GT86

I'm driving this all wrong. Filled up 3 times so far (just crossed the 1,000 miles run in barrier) and had 34.25, 38.34 and 35.33 mpg returned. Going on a longish trip tonight and going to aim for the magical 40! -

I think you could level this complaint at most of the buttons! Mirrors and door lock also spring to mind. Still, think of the performance gain we receive thanks to the weight saved from unnecessary lighting. -

Really? It was 3 years before I realised it was on our Dodge so easy not to use. -

Yet the car has heated seats and automatic lights. Some very strange design decisions. -
That is a good point about the cost of the repair, it must have been a pretty extensive repair estimate to write off a 2 year old car.

if you get the tapturn relay you can get that feature back Shouldn't have to, it is a basic feature on most cars. There are a load of features that should now be considered basic that we are missing. -
If this is the stealth PSN thread, also add me, Kiran- (pay attention to the '-', otherwise you'll get someone else).

Take the car down to Kwik Fit and get them to test the battery. If you are using the car regularly either the battery is not holding the charge or the alternator needs replacing. Or call out your breakdown service and get them to test both.

Hello Paul. My office is in Bracknell so I pop in once a month or so. If you see a Blue BRZ, could be me....
-
I'll probably reset every time because I get a bit anal about figures. Reasonably pleased with the consumption so far, first was 34 mpg and on this 2nd fill up, currently at 40mpg according to the computer but won't know real figure until I fill up.

Is there one? I scanned through the manual but couldn't find anything to suggest there is one. Just want to know whether I have to start thinking about refuelling when it gets to a quarter full or whether there is a light that will come on when there is only a certain number of litres left.

Continuous. I've e-mailed the dealer to see when I can take the car in for an inspection. I've built up enough issues now to make it worth my while taking it in - this issue, white mark on the driver's door, reversing sensor sometimes has a continuous tone and scratches on the roof that can't be felt but can be seen in light.

Sometimes when accelerating I get a kind of "pinking" sound. In the manual it says if you get a slight knocking sound on acceleration, this is normal. Is this what I'm hearing? Kind of spoils the effect....
-
After checking again earlier, the sound is not heard when labouring, it kind of accompanies the exhaust acceleration sound, something it seems only I can make out. Maybe it is related to the exhaust but I just think it is something different.
-
But today it did it, took it out of reverse and then slipped it back in and it went away....
-
Just took my son out with me with the aim of him recording the sound but he couldn't hear it! I'm not going to overly worry about it, it has a 5 year engine warranty.
-
Yes, it is a new car but I would describe the sound more like pinking than knocking. Using it just now and accelerating in 3rd I couldn't get the sound. Going to monitor it a bit longer, could be the fuel type, possibly me trying to accelerate in too high a gear or something else.

First tank was Esso, just filled with Shell yesterday.

I've got a "window stick on" sat nav that I'm happy with. I've e-mailed a mobile specialist in my area for options and they said they will get back to me shortly. I might consider a unit with sat nav but really don't want to spend more than about £500 all in.
