    Next Generation GT86?

That article makes it sound like there will be no follow up to the BRZ. Not sure how I feel about buying one knowing this and may explain the difficulty in getting a new one.

    AutoExpress Cosworth GT86 Review.

BMW used to feel amazing in 2nd and 3rd gear so will be interesting to compare. Didn't get to use the TVR much but that seemed to be able to pull away from most cars in 5th. [emoji1]

    AutoExpress Cosworth GT86 Review.

My 325i coupe had something like 218hp with a manufacturers time of 6.6 seconds. My 156 had 155hp and a time of 8.6 seconds. Based on this my mathematic calculation says 7.2 seconds for 200 hp. [emoji1]

    AutoExpress Cosworth GT86 Review.

Slightly related, I've read in various places that the 0-60 times of standard factory cars is actually faster than the manufacturers reported figures of 7.6, with some places reporting times of less than 7 seconds. Is there any definitive answer out in the internet world of what the real 0-60 time is?

  6. Hi all, first post from a newbie. I've recently decided on a BRZ (pending test drive tomorrow). Have a couple of questions that hopefully a few owners can help me with (pretty basic things). Firstly, the colour. On the website there only seems to be 3 colours available (thinking of the SE model) but in the brochure I downloaded there is 6. My current preference is white and although this shows in the brochure, doesn't show on the site. Is this available? Secondly, the very basic audio system. I can't believe that in 2015 it comes without bluetooth and DAB so this is going to need to be replaced. Are there any controls on the steering wheel for the audio system or can I just replace it without a loss of features? The final quandry I have is whether to buy a new model or 2nd hand. The cars are cheaper than I expected (£22,495) but the dealer I'm going to tomorrow has a pre-registered model with delivery miles for £20,995. I'm not sure whether this is good value because if I come to sell it in the future the next owner will be the 3rd rather than the 2nd owner and the car would be black rather than my preferred option of white. Also, can anyone advise if Subaru dealers have any flexibility to offer any kind of discounts on new cars and if so, how much? In the past I've always found that dealerships will give some form of discount, but as only around 100 BRZs are sold annually, not sure if discounts will be possible.

    Potential BRZ owner

I already have a private plate and still deciding whether to get it on the car from new or enjoy the 65 plate until Feb 2016 first. My current thoughts are to stick with the 65 plate.

I don't think you will lose much at resale, but you will only enjoy having the current "new plate" for a few weeks before you are trumped by the 65 plate. If this is your first new car may as well make the most of it being new!

What date have you been given for delivery?

It is very odd. Almost like they don't want to sell the cars in the UK.

One on order - new GT86 in GT86 Blue

If there is any chance you will sell it in the future, wait for the 65 plate. If it makes you feel slightly better, the BRZ I ordered yesterday is expected December.... Will they put a private plate on directly from new? I also have one but was planning on enjoying a few months of 65ness first. I also was a fairly long term Alfa owner, had a 156 from new in 2000 until 2013.

No, they aren't built to order, seems like they have a planned production run that will become available to the UK. The dealership told me yesterday that there are only 3 BRZs available to the whole of the UK network with an expected delivery in December. A blue LUX, a white SE and a black model (can't remember the spec). He also said that Subaru are reducing the colour options. Fortunately I'd finally decided on the Blue LUX so I didn't have to compromise on choice. Subaru are making it very difficult for the UK dealers, the test car I drove was actually a model they were trying to sell. I'd arranged a 2nd test drive for Tuesday but they called me yesterday to say the car had been sold but they would have another vehicle I could test drive in 3 weeks. This wasn't going to be any good for me because I'd be on holiday then so the dealer has agreed a price with me and taken a deposit for the car (so he can reserve it in the system) on the understanding that if I am not happy with the 2nd test drive they will refund the deposit.

I did go on there, you won't get the LUX model in WR Blue for £20k. Try it and see what it comes back with....

As an added bonus it is the MY16 model. Which comes with extra features, such as different EU compliant emissions. ...and nothing else.

BRZ ordered. Gone for WR Blue Pearl, the LUX (leather edition) and optional extras of rear parking sensors, side fin blades and mats. Could be some time until I get it though, expected December.

Best Way To Run In New GT86...

Like you should with all cars, keep the revs low until the engine has warmed up (do this during run in and for the life of the car). You will then be safe to go up to 4,000 if this is what it says in the book. The reality is, if the book says 4,000 it would probably be safe to do more than this - you have a 5 year warranty which the manufacturer needs to take care of so they are definitely going to give you a very safe figure to stick to and if you accidentally go above this it will still be within an acceptable tolerance. As someone else said, you also need to take care of the new brakes and tyres - these normally need a few hundred miles for run in (something like 500).

Having thought about this some more I'm thinking I might go for the leather, if I can get the dealership to bring the cost down. I'll be in a position to actually go ahead with the order next time I visit them. If we can't come to a compromise I'll probably delay my order and see what I can get through Drive the deal with Toyota.

Sounds like the warranty is very similar then.

Not convinced about the seats. We have that kind of leather in the Audi and cloth in our Dodge. Really can't think of a time I've used heated seats apart from when we had them in our Fiat Brava, and that was just to test it worked! The dial colours look nicer on the GT86 and the Audio system looks better, but I've already seen a few I want to replace it with so that won't be a problem for me.

Where exactly is it? I didn't notice it during my test drive last week, but I'll look for it in the next. Still pondering the seats. They are nice but I'm not sure £1,500 (on the BRZ) is good value or going to add a lot more comfort.

On the subject of warranty, on the BRZ it is 5 years, but first 3 years for everything and years 4 and 5 just for the Drive train. Is Toyota 5 years for everything?

New GT86 owner... Picked it up today!

Thanks, that won't be a problem for me. The only problem is that if the power is unleashed at the higher rpm, you have no way of checking all is good for a while. If I get this car it is probably likely to take me about 3 months to complete the first 1,000 miles!

I've seen this 1,000 miles mentioned a lot. I assume this is the running in period of the car. Do you need to go back for a 1,000 mile service and check?

Definitely not our only car. I have 2 teenagers and they would not appreciate sitting with legs around their necks! This is actually going to be (if I get it) a decadent 3rd car.

    Hello from potential new owner

Started with a pain in the back of my head and then changed to ringing/blocked/pain in my ears the evening/night after each use. I had some 2nd thoughts last night though that maybe these problems (at least the head and ear pain) may be related to another source....
