Mainly comfort level and how loud the engine is at higher speeds in the higher gears. Noise may or may not be an issue for my aging hearing!

In Grays, near the Dartford Crossing. I really need to go back for a 2nd test drive because there are a few things I want to check from the driver's perspective.

You don't need to take the car to the manufacturer to maintain the warranty, pretty much any VAT registered garage can do the servicing so the warranty is honored - this is the law. So I could just let Toyota do the servicing if much cheaper, I'm sure they will know a little about the car. [emoji6]

I have to wonder if it is noise related. I didn't find the BRZ any noisier than my diesel Dodge, which gives me no problems. It might not be the car at all, could have been something else. I'm confident a further test drive will prove whether it is the car this time. I'm sure they will have no objections to a long test drive, unless they don't want my money of course....

My ears and head feel a little off this morning and I'm a little concerned that this is similar to the problem that made me have to get rid of the TVR. Going to need a longer test drive before and wait a day before I can place an order.....

I didn't find it a problem in traffic, I was just stating that it didn't feel as good as the BMW. It was by no means bad and coming from a TVR, the BRZ is luxurious in traffic by comparison.

So went for the test drive today. It was pretty much around town so this probably wasn't the best environment to test it in, but left feeling that my 325i Coupe drove better. Having said that, I am interested in the car and my main interest is due to it being fairly rare, which doesn't change due to my initial thoughts that the BMW drives better. There are other colour options other than the 3 shown on the website and even better news is that the colour I want (Crystal White Pearl) is considered the default colour, i.e. there is no charge for it. I'm kind of OK with the price I can get it for because I've checked a few on-line places for this model and they aren't any better than what the dealer is offering. I also checked Drive the Deal for the Toyota GT86 and although that will get me about £4k off of list price, once I've chosen the colour for the GT86 the price before discount is £25,650 which is basically £3k more than the BRZ. It is a bit difficult to tell which offers the best value for money as the specifications aren't identical, but I'm going to stick with the Subaru. I think though that I will have a 2nd test drive in a couple of weeks before going ahead with the order.

Purely down to the BRZ being a little more rare.

This is different though, he isn't making a claim on his own insurance. In your circumstance I guess you had to claim on your own.

There was nothing wrong with the TVR, I was just incompatible. Something in the car was operating at a frequency that was causing ringing in my ears a few hours after using it. Only seemed to affect me and changing the exhaust didn't resovle the problem so I've had to sell (and this is funding the BRZ if I get one). No immediate plans for mods and track days.....

Make sure that your 12 year body work warranty is still good for the replaced parts....

Not sure I like the sound of that. Do you have 2 or are they terrible and you want to get rid of it?

Thanks for the replies. The reason I'm going for the BRZ over the GT86 is mainly because there are less about, they look the same but the BRZ is more exclusive (I understand that 1,000 GT86s are sold vs 100 BRZs annually). Assuming I get the car, ripping out the audio will be the first thing I do - you can get a pretty decent double din system for around £300.
