  1. Back in November 2015 I created this topic -> I reported the issue to the dealer on the day I purchased the car and since purchasing the car they have had 3 or 4 attempts to fix the issue but still the issue persists. The last time I took the car in for it to be worked on was 16th Feb (2017). I have never been able to replicate the issue on demand (basically, sometimes when you put the car in reverse you just get a constant tone rather than it doing nothing until something comes into range, followed by a beep-beep to let you know how close you are to a near by object). I think they have changed the module twice, the sensors once and on the last visit, wired the live differently and also replaced the reversing lights as someone within Subaru said that could be the issue. 2 days after the last "fix" I got the problem again so wrote to them to say I'd had enough and that they should make me an offer to purchase the car back. Each time I've visited the dealership I've had a 1.5 - 2 hours round trip and then sat in the waiting area for between 1 hour and 2 and a half hours (at the last visit I arrived at the agreed time but the guy doing the work didn't turn up for half an hour). The dealership owner called me today and said that neither they or Subaru will buy the car back. When I suggested I should be compensated for my time, costs and inconvenience of the issue he disagreed saying that neither he or Subaru give compensation. When I mentioned that with hindsight I could have rejected the car within the first 30 days as it was a fault and it wasn't fit for purpose, he wanted to argue that it was fit for purpose as it didn't always happen. The final excellent bit of customer service he offered was when I asked him to put in writing that he won't give any compensation. I was then told he won't do it, I asked why and was then told it is his company and he can do what he wants. So my question is, do you think I am being unreasonable asking for compensation for an issue that has been present since I bought the car 15 months ago? Or does anyone agree with the dealer that I shouldn't get anything because I can't demonstrate the issue on demand (although I do have recordings of the problem)? Regardless of what the responses are here, I won't be going back to Woodford Motor Company, they will not be getting a further penny from me for servicing or anything else. What I'm not sure about though is whether another dealership will take on the reversing sensor issue as it was dealer fitted so may not be covered under the normal warranty.

    Parking sensor - comments please

I can't take it to another dealer under warranty because the parking sensor is not a Subaru part - they allow dealers to source non Subaru parts and if they are used, you are limited to warranty services from the dealer that fitted them. Of all the cars I've owned from new (Alfa, Fiat, Dodge, Audi and Subaru), when it comes to after sales service, Subaru collectively (both the dealership and Subaru UK) are in a different league. The one right at the bottom.

    Phone ban - watch out...

Perfectly understandable that you can't touch your phone - otherwise people could easily claim they were answering a call or doing something with the navigation to avoid admitting to texting or updating their Facebook status.

This has left me very disappointed with Subaru. I specifically told them that I don't want to use Woodford Motor company as they have had 4 attempts at fixing the issue. Subaru UK said that the dealership are entitled to use their own supplier for parts and as a result, they can only be fixed by that dealer. IMO, if I buy a brand new car (and the parking sensor was on the original order) the complete thing should be covered by the warranty and I should be able to take it to any dealer. Subaru UK should be responsible for their authorised dealers and if a dealer is of a poor quality and using parts that are of a poor quality, they should not only be stepping in to be taking care of my case, but also blasting the dealer as they are damaging the Subaru brand. Still a lesson learnt. The first and last time I will be buying a Subaru and I will of course make sure that I relay this story to everyone I speak to about cars.

Subaru UK have basically said they can do nothing and if I want to use a different dealer, I will have to pay. They kindly included a link in their e-mail that goes to their site showing the list of dealers. Customer service at its finest.

New owner .. well will be in March 2017

Nice dash display, quite a lot more modern than my MY16. Does the audio system now have DAB or is it still stuck in 2011?

Saw this last night, I'll be logging something appropriate later today.

This is what I'm coming to realise. When you compare Subaru dealership customer service with Audi's, it is pathetic. When our A6 arrived it did not have the folding mirrors as ordered. As a result of this they retrofitted them (which is the minimum you'd expect) and in addition, provided a lifetime warranty on them, gave me 3 years of free servicing and a £100 worth of Audi goodies from their catalogue. When I had the car serviced this year (4th service so with a different dealership), they washed the car even though I'd told them not to and they had recorded not to wash it. When I complained I was given a £30 car wash kit. Fairly certain I won't be buying a Subaru again.

Yeah, I'm not taking it to somewhere I have to pay to get something fixed that I ordered with the car and has never worked properly. The dealer have said that they will continue to work on the issue, but I think I've given them enough time and given the owner's attitude on the phone today, I've no intention of ever using them again. I'm going to have a word with CAB tomorrow to see if they think I have any grounds for compensation and then I'll see who my next closest Subaru dealership is.
  10. Just got back from a 20 mile run tonight and getting out of the car noticed a high pitch whine when idling. Sounds like something is loose, if I had to guess, a belt. Going to call the dealer up tomorrow to see when I can take it in for a listen, but not impressed as only on about 6k.

    Best tire option for me?

Thanks. I might consider this a bit longer. I think what I'm worried about more than anything, is having an accident as a result of the tires.

    Best tire option for me?

I think you are right, it is a combination of the wet and the temperature as I'd not really noticed a problem before (other than a slight wobble once) in the other months.

    Best tire option for me?

The problem I've had is over the last few weeks (when maybe a little damp) the car has slid which I would not expect from my "normal" style of driving. I'm not really interested in easy oversteer, I just want the car to handle as I expect it.

    Best tire option for me?

Thanks, just to confirm, the stock tires grip is pretty poor and I'm not going to feel there is no improvement by changing them? Any views on Goodyear efficient grip? My local Costco has these.

  17. · Hi all. Need to clear my garage so want to shift some exhaust parts at bargain (I think) prices. First up I have a Milltek resonated or non resonated secondary cat back exhaust system (I have both centre pipes so you can take your pick). I'm looking for £400. If you would like to buy one of the centre pipes separately I'm looking for £125, but once I've sold one I will want to sell the other with the exhaust system. Lastly I have a Berk Technology front pipe with high flow cat, I would like £165 for this. All of these parts are nearly new having been used for between 25 - 200 miles. I live in Essex and can deliver if close by or maybe meet you half way (depending on where you are located).

From looking at UPS website, I think it will be about £20 for next day delivery (this is based on my guess of 15KG and the box being 1 metre X 40 cm X 40cm).

Don't really know for sure whether you can use this, but as it works with the Milltek cat back I would guess "yes". If you are seriously interested I can investigate courier costs, but I expect it will be quite a few quid.

I tried to sell the non resonated originally, but lack of success lead me to have another stab. I will put them all up again soon (plus on Pistonheads, Gumtree and another couple of forums) for a knock down price. I just want to see the back of them now (plus my wife wants the space in the garage).

I think you are spot on, unfortunately. I had the same issue with a TVR, I'd just hoped that switching from non-resonated to resonated on the BRZ would fix this for me, but clearly not. In other news, my stock pile of parts that I can't use and seemingly no one wants to buy will be growing. If anyone has any ideas for "exhaust sculptures", let me know. Ideally you will also have a buyer for said sculpture.

Prior to changing exhausts (and when returning to stock) I have no problem.

Thanks. I think unless this piped noise is increasing the total cabin volume, it probably isn't going to make any difference when I cut it off. It won't hurt to try though....

    The Exhaust Thread

Thanks. I will look at this next time I use the car. Yesterday's trip left me with a kind of pressure feeling at the back of my head and a bit of a "buzzing" sensation and a headache this morning (probably due to a combination of those things and lack of sleep). I've booked the car in to have the stock exhaust returned on Monday but will cancel if blocking the noise generator tube does the trick. Just out of interest, is the noise "piped" in impacted by the exhaust (i.e. now possibly louder than it was due to the Milltek being on)? I am sceptical about this giving me the improvement I need, but it will cost me nothing to try.

    The Exhaust Thread

Just wondering, have you blocked the noise generator tube? I had the same sort of thing after fitting my Milltek system and found plugging the tube helped quite a bit. You don't need anything special, I just plugged mine up with the 12v cigarette lighter cap from the glovebox. Where about is this tube? Getting a bit depressed thinking about the money I've spent getting the exhaust and fitting, returning to stock, buying a resonated pipe and then paying for the Milltek to be put back on. I'll give this a try (if someone can advise where to find it) but after that I think it will be back to stock and just not touch the car anymore. [emoji20]
