Ah, you just wait until they finally get around to doing the A14 upgrade betwwen Cambridge and Huntingdon - that will be a pig for years to come but it is needed. The other Monday there were five accidents (one fatal) within 7 miles of each other on the A14 - closed the whole thing for around 6 hours - took my wife 2 and a half hours to cover 12 miles though the '86's sat-nav lady did manage to guide her around some of it. So, you're a snapper eh. Me too - well once upon a time - not any more. But I was in regional 'papers with some agency stuff thrown in - nothing exotic like Toyota garages.- but I do remember having to spend 2 days snapping motorhomes for something or another.

Just a thought, (from one who knows nothing), If I do some minor mods to a car and clear them through my insurer - what happens down the line should I ever want to sell the car without putting it back to stock first? And what happens if I were ever to buy a modded car and through ignorance not declare all the mods to my insurer? - in that case could I be driving something where the insurance was effectively meaningless?

Had my GT86 for a few weeks now - ex dealer demo, nav + leather, with 7k miles on it - well, 7k when I got it - few more than that now. Have a few niggles with it - just the usual stuff though - like trying to get my head around the smart key system, the lack of visibility when trying to reverse park, the odd knock and rattle and the annoying way it picks up new stone chips (often in the weirdest places) every time I go out in it. But I forget all that every time I buckle-up and press the big black GO button. It's even still a buzz just getting it out of my garage - very narrow garage - not much margin for error. To give you an idea of how much i love it - always been a petrol-head - first time I've ever bothered with a forum or club

So, One of the things I've been seriously thinking about is getting a centre console armrest - I wouldn't of thought this would have troubled any warranty - but would it class as a mod? and have to be declared as it wasn't factory fitted? even if I got a dealer to supply and fit?

Yeah, good to see you Chilli Funny thing is - I don't normally go that way as you can get stuck at the big Spittals A14 roundabout - I normally cut through Huntingdon itself, but today hadn't been brilliant at work (not bad - just meh) and I wanted to blow the cobwebs out a bit I don't know if you travel that way very often but the bit of dual I saw you on has had a 40mph restriction on it for months (they were replacing the central barriers) and it only got opened up again a week or two ago That restriction was a right pain - especially as they were only working at night

About a week ago I was waiting my turn at a set of lights and as I started to move off I caught a glimpse of something out of the corner of my eye so slammed on the anchors and then saw a black cat scurry on to the pavement - I'm not sure who was more shook up - me or the cat. My worst was about when I was in my early 20's - I'm no biker but was borrowing a mate's 175 trail bike. Was riding down a narrow, twisty road with very high banks either side when a duck came out of the bank to my right and hit me square in the chest - I was only doing about 25mph (I said I was no biker) but it knocked me off the bike and left me sat at the side of the road gasping for breath for ages. I used to drive through the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire quite a lot - and I've hit both a sheep and a deer (not at the same time) - but that was in a Volvo 240 so guess who won those encounters.

Thanks guys, That's really useful and means I'm going to think very carefully before unleashing the spanners

Yeah, I'm not a fan of leaving her outside - I have the option of getting her under-cover - so I do. And on the upside.............when the rest of the family is in bed I can creep into the garage with a beer and just sit and stare....... ........I think I'd probably look like a proper div if I took an armchair out into the street.

Hi, Just been messing about on the DVLA's "How Many left?" site Apparently there are currently just over 4k GT86's on UK roads - with another 60 on SORN (track cars I guess) Plus around 500 BRZ's And according to the same source there are around 3-and-a-half thousand road legal Triumph Stags Find it hard to believe that I'm just as likely to see a 1970's rust-bucket as I am another 86.

Meet Daphne - even with a wide angle lens couldn't get back far enough Hope this gives you an idea of the squeeze getting in and out On the other hand though - my next door neighbour (mirror image garage) keeps a Ferrari in his - but it's a rag-top so I guess he doesn't use the doors

For those who are considering the new Mustang..
Bobbynog replied to a topic in Non GT86/BRZ General Chat
Oddly enough I was looking at the Mustang on the official UK Ford site last night - the thing I couldn't work out though was whether or not UK models would be right=hand drive -
I take on board all comments about getting an 86/BRZ because they are unusual But unusual doesn't always mean good Back to my thing about trying to find my wife a replacement for her mini - according to "how many left" there are just under 1500 Proton Wira's on UK roads a third of the amount of 86?BRZ's One's up for sale not too far away proper 4 seater, under 40k miles, FSH, straight body, 1.5L engine through a manual box - even got a spoiler - all for under £700. Now I'm not saying that all this is a good thing but my antenna for the quirky is twitching.

Too true, But the situation has just been resolved for me - She currently works in London and commutes on the train but has just been offered a job a bit more local but it will mean a daily drive instead so I need to find her something reliable and practical. As I said I part-ex'd her mini to get my GT86 so I owe her something And apart from that we've got 2 kids (13 and 16) and we can't get all 4 of us in the 86 without a confrontation between legs and axes. The wife fancies a Mito - but reality says we'll need something bigger. And at the moment she's having to drive the 86 when she has no choice - a proper shame coz she's curbed it a couple of times - good job I took out the extra insurance on the alloys.

Hi all, Need my mind put at rest please, Had my GT86 for a few weeks now - an ex-dealer demo - so I thought it was fairly safe to assume that any niggles would have been sorted. But I've got one concern that I can't stop worrying about even though I've talked to the dealer and they say it's OK. As you know, when you start up, on the display panel below the AC controls there is a display for the on/off condition of the airbags for both passanger and driver - both come on and then only the passanger side indicator goes out - leaving the driver's airbag display on permanently. My manual says that the lights should come on (as a self-check) then go out again and (so the manual says) if they don't come on - or don't go off then check with your dealer - as I said - i've checked with my dealer and they say "don't worry" Should the light stay on? - or should it go off like the one for the passanger side? Should I worry? BTW - no problem with the airbag indicators on the main dash and I've checked the settings on the airbag switches by the door hinges. cheers

Always believed that parking sensors were for old folks and wimps but, reluctantly, I am thinking about it - well, it's either sensors or seriously improving my skills

Cool, where did you get from?

I think I've seen 2 maybe 3 GT86/BRZ's in the last twelve months Funny thing is - three days a week - on my way too and from work I drive past the dealer where I got my ex-demo GT 86 from - I know that their new demo is a white aero but I never see it apart from the one time I had to pop into the dealers - but I don't class that as a spot. There's a Stag for sale at a small independent car sales place up the road from me - they want 10 grand for it - to be fair it looks quite tidy and my wife fancies it - but I'm trying to persuade her otherwise but have allow her a bit of rope because she let me part-ex her mini for the GT86. Back in the day I had a Capri - Mk1 2 litre - orange with a black vinyl roof. Looked cool (or so I thought) but handled like a grand piano - stuffed it into a wall and wrote it off. Whatever happened to the black vinyl roof?

I'm in the corner with anyone else that thinks G-Shocks are cool Was going to get one to replace a very old, very un-cool, but still functional Timex, But a couple of years ago lady luck decided to look in my direction for once - so I was able to get a Rolex submariner Curiously, the only people who ever comment on my watch are car dealers

That's a relief, Thanks

Hi all and thanks for the welcome, Biggest issue with my garage (apart fom it's general width) is that it has an automatic roller door that actually narrows the door width a tad so that you have to be dead square to make sure you don't clip it - but - about half way down the garage on the inside is a structural pillar that sticks out about 6 to 8 inches - exactly where the driver's door opens - so to get in and out of the car you have to park at a very slight angle - I've fixed an old rubber car mat to the pillar to try and limit the inevitable knocks but, as my daughter says, you have to be liquid to get in and out of the car. And because your now on a slight angle - you have to straighten up as much as possible before reversing out. Ah well. Rattles and knocks I'm getting my head around and I'm not that bothered really - though I do have one technical issue I am concerned about but wil talk about that in a different thread - I've talked to my dealer and I don't think I've had a satisfactory answer from them. Paint chips - never had a car like it for them - got one in the centre of the top edge of the boot - just under the rear screen - no idea how that happpened. As for reversing - I'll get used to it - car for the last five years was an estate - just a question of sorting out where the invisible corners are.
