  1. Hi all, I had the windscreen replaced on my GT86 last week (by National windscreens - Peterborough). I now have a very irritating rustling noise that seems to be coming from the top of the windscreen, where it meets the interior roof lining. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue after a windscreen replacement? The noise manifests on the slightest road bumps, so it can be heard almost constantly on anything other than a perfect surface. If I run my finger along the point where the windscreen meets the interior roof lining inside the car, there is a little bit of clearance at the extremes of the driver and passenger ends, but no clearance in the middle; I'm not sure how it should be, and I'd be really grateful if someone could check this out on their GT86/BRZ. Thanks all, Matt.

    Rear Speakers.....will these fit?

There's an example here of someone bodging the OEM rear brackets to fit a 4" speaker: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJzRDDDbM9w&feature=youtu.be&t=1367

    Dash speaker wiring question

Great, Thanks @JohnM. For the benefit of anyone else interested, cheapest I've found so far is £5.99 here: https://www.bassjunkies.com/connects2-ct55-ty02.html

    Dash speaker wiring question

If you know of an adaptor for the stock tweeter connector, could you tell me where I could get a pair of these? Regards, Matt.

More members set to benefit from Chris Knott service

I would just like to say that I'm in my second year of insurance with Chris Knott and the service has been absolutely first class, like no other insurance company or broker that I have dealt with previously. When I call, I always get through to someone straight away and their staff are competent, articulate, and efficient. When they say that they will call you back, they always do. They seem to take a common sense approach to modifications. I recently phoned to add another minor mod to my policy (some poly bush inserts), and I was told "no problem sir, we'll note that down on your list of modifications"; an amended list confirming the changes was Emailed to me within minutes; there was no rip-off admin fee for adding the mod. Price wise, they were not the cheapest for me this year, but they were not far off my best quote. I know that people will say that you only find out how good your insurance is when you come to make a claim, but on the based on the service I have received so far, I feel comfortable that I would be in good hands should an unfortunate situation arise. Matt.

    Problem With Heat Wrap

Just a thought @MartinT, if you rotated the coolant hose through 180 degrees so that the bend is going the other way, would that give you any more clearance? *EDIT* Just re-read your post and seen that you've already done that. Matt.

    Problem With Heat Wrap

These manifolds also sit really close to the crankshaft pulley, which I'm not entirely comfortable with, but I think you have to be willing to accept some compromises when modifying cars. Matt.

    Problem With Heat Wrap

Clearance on mine is approximately two inches. I'm wondering if this is due to differences between the EL and UEL design? *EDIT* This is EL.
  10. Cool. I'm sure your neighbours will approve.
  11. Just out of interest, what are you going to replace it with @Paul?

    Steven Eagell Toyota (Cambridge).

Took the car back there this morning. After a 25 minute wait they took some pictures and said they'd get back to me, as there were no managers in. I'm not holding my breath.
  13. So, took my car to Steven Eagell Toyota (Cambridge) on Friday to have mud guards fitted, and just noticed this at the bottom OSF of the car. To say I'm pissed off is an understatement.

Did he reject the car? They've got one in the Cambridge show room.

I find it so irritating that these dealerships can't do a very basic job without cocking something up or damaging something. And they wonder why I don't have my car serviced by them. Does anyone have any idea how hard it will be to fix properly? It's dented and it's torn through the stipply under-guard stuff.

    Miltek non-resonated Catback video

Yes, bring it around to my car park one day (I guess you've noticed my car has a car park all to itself), it would be fun to get a picture of them both together. Matt.

    Miltek non-resonated Catback video

I heard it in the car park this morning Lewis; It's definitely louder than my TD resonated. Enjoy.

    Bang goes another windscreen

It's not just you. I've been through two windscreens in the last year, both times the A142 Soham bypass was the culprit road.

    Best catback exhaust

Plenty of Japanese manufacturing is outsourced, so it doesn't seem infeasible.

    Best catback exhaust

I don't know how true it is, but I've read that a lot of the Japanese branded exhausts are actually manufactured in Taiwan, shipped to Japan in bits, then packaged. Via a legal loophole they are able to market the final product as "made in Japan". Anyone else know anything about this?

    Best catback exhaust

Fair enough, that didn't show up on the page I was looking at. That's not a bad price then.

    Best catback exhaust

As a consumer, you don't get anything for the import duty you pay.

    Best catback exhaust

That's just for a rear silencer (£750), not a whole catback system, and that's excluding VAT.

  25. I recently had my Primacies changed for a brand new set of Yokohama Advan 105's all round. Since the Yoko's were fitted I've not been happy with the way the steering feels and have lost a bit of confidence with the car. The car feels twitchy at the front and pulls to the camber of the road at low speeds, the pulling is also noticeable when braking at low speeds; it also steers itself over bumps at low speeds. By 'low speeds' I mean 30 mph or less. The issues do seem less noticeable at higher speeds, although I haven't yet had the opportunity for a really spirited drive yet. First thing I did was check the tyre pressures, they are presumably correct at 35 psi all round. Then I got a laser four wheel alignment carried out at a local garage, who reported that it was basically OK, just one minor adjustment required. The alignment made no noticeable difference to me. As someone who only became interested in cars relatively late in life, I appreciate that I may not have articulated my problem particularly well, or what seems weird to me may be normal, but I would welcome your comments and suggestions. Thanks all, Matt.
