Go Japan! - Brands Hatch, Sunday September 13th

Missed the boat for a club stand ticket, but just bought general admission, so will pop along and say hello if I see you guys -
Hi everyone, I'm having trouble with my climate control; last week, I noticed it was stuck on footwell and face vents, and after trying to reset the system by pulling the fuse/disconnecting the battery, it's now stuck on the face vents. I know the motors still work, cause if you pull the fuse, they reset, but as soon as you put the fuse back and put the ignition on, they turn back to face only. I've tried manually moving the motors, but they don't seem to want to move. I've put the system into diagnostic mode to get the error codes (see video), but I don't know what they mean, does anyone have a list they can share? Or does anyone. Know how you completely reset the system? Cheers VID_20191129_180632.mp4

Coventry Motofest is coming round again soon, just wondered if anyone was heading over? Or if there are any plans for a stand? I think applications are still open, and it's free! (bar a voluntary donation)

Hi everyone, I have a pretty chill girlfriend, and she's planning on giving me £200 to spend on a project car. I am considering an E34 525i, as a friend at work is selling a rolling shell (no engine or gearbox) for £200. I've seen photos of the car, it's red, with pretty poor paint condition (rear quarter and spoiler are heavily faded), however I'm told the rest is in good condition, and drove well before the engine was pulled out due to excessive smoke. It has a cream cloth interior by the looks of it. Does anyone have any experience of these, and is there anything I should look out for when I see the car? I just wanted a bit of advice as to whether this would be a good project car? I have a small garage and minimal tools atm, but I plan on spending a couple of years fiddling and gathering tools I need. With the ultimate goal of sticking something like a manual coupled with a straight six out of an E46 328i, or an M62, and possibly going supercharged. Am I likely to bite off more than I can chew here, or is this something that is doable over a few years with a meagre budget? Any project advice would be appreciated! Cheers!

Thinking of a project car
Maxwellphillips replied to Maxwellphillips's topic in Non GT86/BRZ General Chat
Cheers! I did think of an mx5, but I'm worried it'd be too similar to the GT, but your point about learning how to handle the car and apply that to driving the GT is very valid, and like you say, better to crash a £1500 mx5 than my treasured Toyota! -
I should be able to make it too

Thinking of a project car

Cheers guys. Probably going to stick with something that actually works then! I like the E46 idea, would consider a touring, maybe go for an Mot failure that still runs? I have a friend who had an Rx8 and he's just sunk a load of money into it to have it blow up on him, so I'll try to avoid them! -
Hi everyone! So I was unfortunately in a minor crash going to work the other day. Slow speed, relatively small amount of damage, but annoying non the less. I've never been in a crash before, but I let my insurance know straight away, and they set things in motion to get the car inspected and fixed. The other party admitted fault at the time, and has also let her insurance know it was her fault. The question I have is; do I get my car fixed through my insurance or through hers? Her insurance have said they'll sort everything, Inc. Hire cars etc, so I was just going to do it through them, but my insurance have now called me back to say I won't be covered legally if her insurance fails to repair my car correctly (won't have any come back etc). Is this right? And on a related note, are there any good/proven body shops in the Midlands area I can suggest to either insurance company? Thanks!

Accident and insurance help!

How long is the corrosion warranty? I thought it was 3 years, but my car is nearly 5 now -
I spoke to Greg Howell, but he came across as a bit of a bellend, so I left him alone. Didn't try the others to be fair. Where abouts are you based? Looks like a TRD? Might've seen you driving down wedgenock lane, Warwick a few times?

Accident and insurance help!
Maxwellphillips replied to Maxwellphillips's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
Had my first estimate back... *drum-roll* £4078.28. This was done through Listers body shop, as they are the dealer I bought the car from. Now I don't know much about accident repair, but this seems astronomical considering the damage done. I'm going to Southam Bodies (Greg Howell) for a second opinion. -
Accident and insurance help!

Thanks everyone. From the general consensus on here and at work, it looks like the best option is to go with her insurance (as they've said they'll pay) and choose a decent body shop that'll actually do a good job, especially with the pearl paint. I'll ring around a couple and go and visit (thanks Will and Deacon and others for the suggestions), and start to get some quotes in. I'll feedback so you can get the sweepstake going. -
Also a maybe. The date rings a bell, but my calendar organiser (missus) is away atm, will let you guys know

Not really a social meet, but is anyone going to Coventry motor festival next weekend? I went last year, and it was the first time I saw/fell in love with a GT86 in the flesh, so it's almost like an anniversary for me

Maxwellphillips replied to Maxwellphillips's topic in Social Meets
Yeah, I'll be there Saturday too, probably get there about half 9 10, have a mooch around, not sure about leaving though, but as long as the weather isn't awful I'll probably be there for most of it -

They're still organising it I think, you can still apply for a classic car stand, but probably a bit late notice for people -
I hadn't seen that :') incredible, but that's basically the reason I want them haha

Anyone think these are legit? Made in India apparently, and the seller sells a load of random stuff. Seems too good to be true, what do you guys reckon? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Hella-3AG-003-399-801-Horn/dp/B000CRZXPI

Ordered, thanks!

I have the rattle in the left rear quarter, but I think it's something to do with the rear seat back board rattling off the parcel shelf/boot, need to stick some foam in there and see if it helps

Anyone heading down there this weekend? It's a little pricey and chav but should be good fun, might have a go at chucking the old GT down the strip!
