22k is about knocking the VAT off isn't it? Pre-registered or something. 27.5k was list price for a lightly pimped new car, and I couldn't see them bargaining themselves 5 grand under.

I'm not sure Facebook will still be in business by the time I get to 150k. -
Hilix with shed on the back. Am I mad?

Depends on whether you want to drift it or not. -
Interesting to see, and highlights a major problem with intake tuning. Mostly you're just lying to the engine about airflow and causing it to run leaner than intended, a kind of hardware hack of ECU tuning. This brings me to the follow-up problem - most fuel-injected cars trim themselves over time to re-establish their commanded AFR. LTFT can also be applied to add fuel in open loop mode when gunning it, so depending on the ECU setup of the '86 and friends, the car can potentially correct out the false lean condition created by the intakes. I haven't found anything definitive, but without a remap, it's possible many of these intakes will have their benefits compensated back out after some typical driving. They will definitely learn out the changes in closed loop driving. I suppose the top end will stay mostly uncorrected, because the car will never be able to learn at those RPMs. Anyway, thanks for posting Deacon! We know this car likes a remap, so it's good to choose an intake to work with first. There are some definite bad options in there.

My last car didn't like having a phone left inside.

All wheel drive huh? That would be an interesting transfer box.
-
The 86-alikes are not out there in huge numbers so far, less than 10000 on the road to date. There's a scattering in and around Cambridge, so you'll have reasonable odds when you go anywhere but the coast.
-
You know, it's not a country mile from becoming a boxcart. You could mount wheels!
-
Yeah, except that's not what the dyno chart shows. That would translate the whole line up a substantial amount more than it is. Perhaps it's corrected for gear ratio?
-
To be fair, the car is still a bit young for the full list of troubles to emerge. At least they're pretty good for the first few years, albeit with rattly interiors. I'm expecting rust to manifest, just because it's Japanese.
-
Well, 4.67 to 4.1 isn't a huge difference, maybe a foot pound here and there, but within error of the dyno. The lightened prop shaft might even have a bigger impact on the perceived power output. You can even see the shift in the bumps caused by the ratio change. The flywheel has way more angular momentum, so a kilo off that will make a bigger difference, but you do have to mess with the clutch to be sure.
-
Super linear up to 6500 RPM, nice! Does the prop shaft take some weight out of the transmission? I trust that the final drive didn't cheat the second dyno pull by futzing with the expected gear ratio...

Cripes, looking superb, while simultaneously feeling like adult meccano. Inverting the pedals was smart, but you'll need a big-ass screen to not look tiny at the end of your frame. -
The hooligan car of choice. I'm shocked at how big all the series have become, the 5 series is massive!

The fuel syphon is from the bottom of the tank. If the filter works, you'll only consume the filth that fits through it. That same filth will be agitated on every fill, so it's not like it's being kept somewhere safe until your rainiest day. I can confirm the oil temp PID mentioned earlier works a treat. Fairly convincing numbers, with sensible oil temperature being achieved a bit after the water hits the normal mark on the temp gauge (which seems to be damped above about 80 Celsius).
-
Well that should be loud and flamey.
-
But does the binnacle cover get rid of the annoying reflection you get when driving into the sun?
-
That's snug! Also looks expensive.
-
I certainly would. The fuel pumps don't like being run to the last drop, and the accuracy is off when you're either very full, going round corners fast, or otherwise below the minimum measurable. Does the '86 have a saddlebag fuel tank? If so then it's already approximating both sides.
-
The default fuel level PID in Torque is probably quite sufficient. Not that it helps you unless you're flat-lining the fuel gauge.
-
Wow, what a long and mostly empty thread (the FT86 one). The only useful thing in it is the oil temp part, the rest is just confused people. The accuracy of some of the other elements requires a sensible car weight.

Nice little tweak. The silver makes more sense when there isn't quite so much red everywhere.

I've got some tocks and ticks to find in my cabin, and this is the year to do it! I'd appreciate any suggestions to help me find them. 1. Driver door clonks under high G cornering. Something is sliding around inside 2. Ticking and tocking from rear left quarter (I think) in response to jiggly road surface. Comes and goes with temperature/time. I peeled back the boot trim to have a look, found what I think is the rear suspension top mount (two nuts and a hole with a third nut in it), didn't budge to fingers but I didn't have time to try a socket on them. No signs of scraping, so they're hopefully staying put. 3. Speaker shroud on driver's side dashboard. Probably just need to wedge it in with some padding. 4. Sound of poorly lubricated machinery between ears. Persists outside the car.
-
Probably for a different thread, but ooh those speakers look proper. I'm pining for better clarity.
