Thanks Dan. I'm considering your offer. Any rubber on them?

So I'm coming up for renewal (£368 my current best. no extras, minimal excess), and I found the following in the policy docs: 8 6. Use on airfields We will not cover any injury, loss, damage or liability caused by using your car in any area where aircraft are normally found to be landing, taking off, moving or parked. Apparently they've figured out the only places left for us to hoon about. Very disappointing! I know these airfield events are typically non-competitive and only have one car loose at a given time, but it annoys me all the same.

Unexpected terms and conditions

Well yes, but the Nordschleife is in a different league for risk than 20 blokes slithering around some cones. Same for track days, that's fine. Does that include parking at Duxford? I think they are overreaching a bit on this clause. At least it's clear. -
Is she trying to kill me... Tracking and tyres

What winters did you fit? I've got some Dunlop Wintersports on, and indeed the front grabs well but the back feels loose. It's infeasibly good fun/slightly scary. As long as I keep the sudden moves out, it handles very well as long as it's 6 degrees or less. Felt pretty floaty in the unseasonable warmth recently. I think the thing about the winter tyres is that they have more flex in all the extra rubber blocks, which means it takes more movement to load up the tyre to full grip. That's my take on it anyway. I'll keep having fun with them until the weather improves and I acquire spare rims! -
Having come from a car with a ferocious battery habit, I would point out that a drained lead-acid battery is permanently afflicted by being taken to a flat state. The electrodes get heavily corroded and don't reform properly in the charging cycle. You can probably get away with it once, maybe twice, but after that it's better to just replace the battery. I suppose warranties complicate preventative maintenance though.

Last New Year, we went on a trip to the Peak District to escape everything. Great holiday, but packed my pants on the snow there. The car parks were deadly and heavily cambered roads scary as anything. Now I have some Dunlop wintersports and they're struggling in this darned heat! Who knows what the climate will throw at us next? They feel fairly good down at 6 degrees though, where I know the Primacies would be skittering in search of traction.

Unexpected things you Disike about the GT86
nerdstrike replied to remal's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
Ok, I'm going to complain about: Useless speedo dial. Digital display is all I need. Waste of dash that could be filled with oil temp Basic brake feel The bits of the rear screen I can't clean properly bonus item: stupid stupid USB that throws phones into a fit -
Greetings TDU, gotta work on that post count! Thank you everyone else for your welcome. Plans for the car: NA tweakage for the time being Get some spare wheels for summer and play time Keep it out of the hedges Track it at least once Get an all-over respray once the goddamn construction boom has stopped. I've already lost one windscreen! It's my commuter and occasional family taxi, so I need to keep it fairly hospitable and well-behaved. I hope you 86-ers will be able to help me in keeping it in tip-top shape.
