Winters are ace, but I have nowhere to store them, so I'm stuck on summers. Luckily Cheshire doesn't tend to get much snow so I'll cope I think.

Meanwhile, I just see this:

From your post title it seems like you're after an ECU chip that will allow you to pass emissions with no cat. Sadly such a chip doesn't exist as there's no way to tweak the ECU to make it do what a cat does. The only thing that can make an exhaust MOT legal for emissions is to have a cat fitted.

Javelin trackday - Bedford GT - Friday 2nd December
Rich replied to surrey86's topic in Social Meets
Sadly I can't make this one, too much on, and a lack of funds. -
1. Tein Flex A (6/6 spring rate) + EDFC 2. I have them set to 56 (out of 64) base and then firmer with speed and Gs, usually about 20-40 in actual driving. For track I have them firmer, 32 base and then firmer with Gs. Mine are a 20 mm drop from stock and clear almost all speed humps. Any idea what the spring rates on your are?

Nitpick: VAG stands for Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft, where the AG is the German equivalent of PLC, i.e. it means it's a public company. GL with the sale though (a VW forum might get more interest though).

Pretty sure I'm not fit to drive yet, so I'll not be making it. :-P

In the market for a exhaust system - One that isn't too loud!

They get recommended because they're cheap I think. And the tips look good. But quality they are not. Just waiting for mine to break at this point... -
Didn't pick it up at JAE?
-
I doubt it would be that bad for the people who worked there; easy to blame it on mismanagement or publisher pressures.

Still a maybe as it's the work Halloween party the night before...

Handbrake worked fine without adjust.

New rear brake discs and pads today, went for Cosworth streetmasters to match the front. Getting the discs off was a right faff, ended up using a hammer and bending the stock jack handle which I was using as a pry bar. Done now though, old pads were down the the wear limit.

PC dev makes developers lazy IMO. Game too slow? Tell them to buy a faster PC. Loading too slow? Buy an SSD. Etc. With fixed hardware you actually have to think about what you're doing more and push the development harder, rather than just assuming a faster PC will come along and solve your problems. So no I wouldn't say frustrating. Frustrating is trying to work out why your game doesn't work on a specific set of drivers and hardware when nothing is properly documented and the IHVs just give you blank looks. It was even better before patching as you also had to make sure the game ran properly without the opportunity to fix it.

I generally prefer developing for console to PC, even during development, it's just much more straightforward. And especially when it comes to graphics programming, the tools are much better on console. I guess that just makes me shit though.

Must be all those burnouts.

I'm up for Manchester meets.

Lower offset can affect drag as well I think - if they wheels poke a bit they're in the airflow round the sides of the arches.

Had my Advans on for just over 10k miles now. Around 4mm left all round (marginally less at the rear than front). Very pleased with the wear rate, seems I'm easy on the tyres.

I switched from non-res to res due to drone and overall noice levels. I do have a decat manifold though, without I think it would be a lot more acceptable. I didn't get drone when cruising, but if the engine was loaded at fairly low revs (2-3k) it would drone a bit. Very noticeable leaving the M56 at J7, the road goes up a hill which is 50 limited and in 6th would be really annoying. Overall noise is lower with the resonated pipe, but it still sounds like a Milltek. There's not really any rasp at high revs now. A new resonated centre pipe will set you back around £200.

I had mine done along with a couple of warranty jobs and got a courtesy car for the day.

Think I'm going for a set of Cosworths for the back, and new discs. I like the idea of running a consistent compound, and the Cossies have been good on the front.
-
So my rear pads are pretty low (1mm remaining), time to think about new pads. I have Cosworth Streetmasters on the front which are fine, so I'm considering getting a set to match for the back, or maybe staying OEM, but the squeal is annoying there. Any thoughts? Also why are rear discs so much more expensive than fronts?

Grounded mine out on a multistory car park kerb the other day, you just have to put up with it on a lowered car I think.

Bit of a resurgence with the new expansion. General feel is that it's gone in a better direction than the last couple.
